Brought donuts all the way back to Boston!

Worth the hassle of having to check a bag just to bring donuts home to Boston! Husband and son loved the surprise when I walked through the door :)

Pros: Lots of great vegan options!

Best vegan donuts I’ve had

The vegan donuts here are amazing. It can get a bit crazy at night with a huge line. Make sure to look at the menu before going up as it wasn’t too clear to me what was vegan (if anything) in the rotating cases.

Pros: Best. Vegan. Donuts.

Cons: Could make it more clear which donuts are vegan

Tasty but signboard needs clarity

This was my first time visiting Voodoo Doughnuts, and I was very excited. They have a rotating display case with their flavor selections, and the bottom shelf has all vegan doughnuts. Their signboard also lists some of their specialties, including the doughnut that I wanted to try (the Old Dirty [censored]). Next to some of them, including Old Dirty [censored] is a little 'v', which signified vegan. So, I took this to mean that all Old Dirty Bastards (and the similarly marked doughnut flavors) were vegan. I ordered the doughnut flavor without specifying the vegan version, and as the person taking my order was putting it in the bag, I thought to check, "oh, that's vegan right?". No, this is not the case, as I was somewhat rudely informed. They did get me a vegan one which came from an entirely separate shelf. Yes, it was my mistake, but I think the signboard is unclear and a bit misleading to have a 'v' (denoted as vegan, NOT as a vegan option available) next to a flavor. I wish the person taking my order had been nicer about it as well.

The doughnut itself was quite good, but I was disappointed about the interaction in ordering my doughnut.

I should mention that they now do accept cards, and are not cash only anymore.

Addicting

Jeez man! I will stand in line however long it is necessary to get the donuts from that friggin vegan tier. They also have a vegan bucket available. 1-2 of everything vegan is in there for a very good price.

Few options after long wait

There is no way to tell what the vegan options are without waiting in line. Have been to the one in Portland I was disappointed with the very few options they had when, after 30 minutes of waiting, I finally was able to ask.

Pros: Affordable

Cons: Few options, Too little info about options

Vegan junk food at its worst

I was really excited to try this place after seeing it so many times on TV. I was very much let down. My apple fritter had no apples. The raspberry donut had unannounced cream cheese inside, and it was collapsed. The amount of sugar on everything hurt my teeth after the first bite. If anything had a flavor it was drown out by the raw artificial sweetness to the point it was not enjoyable. The cold brew on tap was solid, but ruined by the lack of milk choices and only having sweet and low as a sweetener. I had to clean the table furiously as my daughter was scrambling for other people crumbs. I would of sat elsewhere, but the whole place was trashed. My wife changed my daughter in the bathroom, and described it was a crime scene and the most disgusting bathroom she was ever in. Hands down will never return.

Pros: Lots of vegan donuts

Cons: Cash only, Very dirty, Mediocre vegan donuts

Another great place to get an unhealthy craving taken care of

I will start out by saying that this place has a really good ambiance and they have ideal location for their shop. They are located right on 6th street in the heart of drunk college / the startup work setting. Not only do they get the simple "snack on my lunch break" crowd who don't focus immensely on the "healthy foods" but there's also a good deal of tourists the flood here for the close proximity of the establishment to the other great sites of Austin.

If you are looking for a good spot to grub out on some donuts, then this is your ticket. They happen to be one of the only donut shops in town that prominently displays vegan donuts as an option on the menu. Donuts always being a great choice for vegetarians (unless you accidentally find yourself with a bacon donut on your plate... definitely not for the health seeker). This shop though does a good job of clearly labeling the Vegan from the not.

It also resembles the feel of a subway in terms of the seating arrangements. Some booth seating, many more small table seating. The only thing Austin I believe this place to have would be the hipsters working behind the counter and the writing on the bathroom wall. It's not a negative talking point but if you are craving a vegan junk food option with a very Austin-esk vibe then look elsewhere.

Pros: vegan options clearly labeled, there are a good selection of vegan options, easy to walk from nearby restaurants and bars

Cons: Not the healthiest option , not a very authentic "Austin" vibe, Kinda touristy and can have long lines.

Open all day & night

Be prepared to queue. Although open 24 hours, even late afternoon the queue reached almost to the door. With 3 servers/tills, the wait was not too long however.
Good selection of vegan donuts - probably best to have a look online if you can to figure out which one(s) you'd want. I went with the Portland Cream, which was delicious and only $2. It's a raised yeast shell filled with Bavarian cream and covered with chocolate glazing.
Plenty of seating space and even a little stage - I imagine that there might be live music some times.
Will be back to try more of their donuts.

Pros: Good selection of vegan donuts, Plenty of seating space

Cons: Cash only, Be prepared to wait

good doughnuts, cool decorations, iffy on the details.

I love VooDoo doughnuts, and I visit them in Portland all the time. They have a wide variety of vegan and nonvegan doughnuts to satisfy any kind of craving.
Recommend the doughnuts 100%.
A few things miffed me about this Austin location, though.
First, no air conditioning. In a Texas summer, this sucked a LOT. Everyone was sweating, and when I asked why they didn't have AC, the cashier responded with a vague "the AC drips behind the counter so we keep it off." Made it impossible to sit and enjoy any of the food.
Second, they only take cash. There is a conveniently placed ATM right next to the register, but of course has crazy ATM fees. A $40 card reader to attach to a phone isn't a big expense for a modern convenience. The people ahead of me, behind me, and myself all had to step out of line to pull out cash.
Third, they were out of ice. They had a sign taped to the machine that said "we run out sometimes, be cool about it." It was sort of hard to be cool when you can't cool down with a cold beverage or an air conditioned shop. I was burning up. Other than that, atmosphere was great and staff was nice enough. Doughnuts are always amazing.

Pros: atmosphere, food, variety of options

Cons: no air conditioning, no ice, cash only

Always Open.

A whole shelf of choices of vegan cake and raised doughnuts. And the cake was light and dreamy not dense and mediocre like most vegan doughnuts. The frostings are a little over the top on the raised but the doughnuts themselves aren't too sweet so it worked. And, ignore the closed indicator here. They're NEVER closed.

Pros: 24/7 raised and cake vegan doughnuts

Great for vegans

Vegan donuts are tastier than the regular dairy laden donuts. Nightmare to park nearby! Long lines but worth it - very friendly.

Def worth checking out, not the best though.

Solid doughnut if in need of a doughnut fix. Go earlier in the day as I went once in the evening and they were out of some flavors.
Not the best I've ever had but still good. Try the voodoo doll, oreo cookie, and maple-bavarian cream. The PB&J is worth skipping. The cake donuts are ok but I would stick to the regular yeast doughnuts.

Pros: Yeast doughnuts, Open 24/7, Yummy

Cons: Cash only, Expensive, Can run out of flavors

Not as good as the Portland location

I was excited to hear that Voodoo opened a location in Austin as the one in Portland is amazing. This places disappoints, however as the staff is not helpful or courteous. I've been 3 times and each time the staff was terrible. They do have vegan donuts and the place looks cool, but it's nothing like the original. Plus, there are always lots of people begging for money outside. If you are looking for delicious vegan donuts, try Wheatsville Coop or even Whole Foods. Both are better.

Delicious Doughnuts!

I had the vegan apple fritter (bigger than my face!) and oreo topped doughnut! I loved the apple fritter so much! The oreo topped donught was a bit sweet for my taste but I still enjoyed it very much!

Pros: Delicious donuts, Open 24/7, Vibe and Decor

Cons: Customers bus the tables- so they aren't as tidy, Cash Only

Amazing!

I've been here several times and absolutely love it (although be prepared to wait in line on the weekends). A box of a dozen vegan doughnuts is around $18...and they usually throw a few extra your way. Super friendly staff and cute hang spot...definitely must visit.
