Good option to go with non-vegans - Edit
ViaSete is a beautiful restaurant in a nice location in Ipanema. It has a section of vegetarian dishes in the menu but only one is vegan, the Émincé Vegano. That's what I had. It is a type of stroganoff: cauliflower, tofu and mushrooms cooked in a cashew cream, and served with brown rice. It was good, but a bit too salty in my opinion. For dessert, I had the chocolate mousse and it was delicious. It is an expensive restaurant but portions are well-served and the service is great. It wouldn't be my first choice but it is a nice place to go if you are with non-vegans.

There is only one vegan entree, the strogonoff, and two appetizers, the heart of palms and chips with hummus.
Read moreBe careful with the vegetable Thai curry as it contains fish sauce and another animal based sauce.
The food can take a bit of time to arrive but it’s worth visiting.
It can get a bit loud during weekend dinner time.

No vegan mains the risotto is not vegan - Edit
I went to eat here because I saw the reviews saying the risotto was vegan and I confirmed with the waiter before ordering but once it arrived I could tell it was dairy based cheese. The chef came out and apologized and offered ti make me a salad bowl. They have several raw vegan desserts but almost no vegan options other than dessert.
