I left feeling disappointed.

Based on the reviews, I was expecting something extraordinary.

Out of the ten courses, only one was a pleasant surprise. The rest were mediocre, with nothing particularly special about the flavors or ingredients, and a few dishes were even bad enough to be left uneaten. This isn’t coming from someone new to vegan food either.

The Experience was boosted by lack of air conditioning and the constant company of banana flies.

On the positive side, the service and wine pairing were both excellent, but overall, it felt like a waste of four hours and a considerable amount of money.

Pros: Service, Wine

Cons: Food, Banana flies, Way too Hot

Have fun wasting money

2 stars is valid though, and I was really in between 2 or 3 in my enjoyment of this place, but honestly the high-end status of the place, the Michelin star and ultimately the price had to bring it down to a 2 star rating. I would recommend going to this place if you have lots of money to throw away and want to see what this is like, or you just prioritize food experiences regardless of their outcome. You will have some good dishes, even great ones, but those will be in the minority.

The flavoured tubes at the start: good palate cleanser, was excited for the meal.

Crackers with watermelon foam: nice subtle flavours

Savoury churro: good but not great

Asparagus with flowers on top: good but not great

Little brioche with vegan sour cream and miso filling: amazing, got my hopes up

Cotton candy with beet root: delicious but confusing in the flow of the meal

Daikon with chilli, kombu and plantain flakes: 0 spice, even though they specifically asked us if we wanted it spicy and we said yes, and very little taste otherwise

Bread plate with vegan butter served with cured tomato in wakame sauce, the latter good but not great, the bread, very good but confusing AF- why are we getting a mountain of bread before our meal, it doesn't make sense and is strangely paired with a dish it doesn't go with? Also we had a choice of olive oils which in retrospect felt silly and pretentious in context of a tasting menu (thoughhh the brioche was phenomenal thank you for that)

Beet dish: actually amazing, stunning, spectacular, thought we were going back on a good track

Warm salad: okay, could have used 1 more component for balance like a roasted squash cube or something

Sunflower soup: was Sunflower soup that I could have microwaved with rice crispies, not sure why the servers said it was their favourite dish. 0/10

Peas in soup: bad to me, way too salty, the sauce or soup or whatever was not good enough to have a soup of

Asparagus sorbet with strawberries: was actually good but not a comeback at this point

Corn yogurt with mango custard and balsamic vinegar: actually delicious, but too much balsamic (it wasn't balsamic btw I'm just being a [censored]) BUT corn pastry that came with it- fabulous texture, revolting bitter taste
All in all, this place was what I think they mean when they say pretentious modernist cuisine, and I'm an artsy/food loving [censored] who loves food as art/art as food. Because of that and because of some highlights, it gets a couple stars

Good experience

Was apprehensive about visiting as don’t often splash out on an expensive meal. We had the snacks and then mains with juice/wine pairing. It’s such an individual taste thing but for us, we adored the snacks. The mains were ok, nothing that inventive and also very overly salty. Knowledgable and friendly staff, good atmosphere but I’d say expensive. But you know that as it’s Michelin starred. The juice pairing, snacks and mains for one was £170. Very accessible from nearby train station and all meals can be veganised. They were good at amending the meals for my friend with an allium allergy.

An experience like no other

It was my second visit to VeVe last week and it succeeded even the first one. The presentation is elegant, even playful at times, and the flavors are out of this world. The attention from the staff is excellent as well.

Pros: Remarkable staff, truly, The awesome combination of flavors

A 10 star sensory delight

Spectacular from start to finish. If I could give Veve more than 5 stars I would.
This is the best tasting menu experience I have had to date. It beats three Michelin star dinners. This my first tasting menu where there was not a single disappointing or bad course. Not a single course that felt unremarkable compared to the rest. Every dish was exquisite: beautiful, colorful, and incredibly flavorful. And every dish surprised me when I first tasted it. Nothing was what I expected based on the description or appearance. Dishes that I thought I wouldn’t like, I loved. Dishes that I expected to taste a certain way or have certain textures were everything but. Veve was a true delight to the senses from start to finish.
Service was impeccable — I never waited for more than a few minutes between courses and all staff members were polite and friendly.
I cannot say enough good things. If you have to pick a single restaurant to try in Copenhagen, this should be it.

Pros: Spectacular experience , Amazing food, Impecable service

Incredible cuisine and unique dining experience

A unique (almost completely vegan) dining experience. Only non-vegan dish the evening we were there was the beetroot cotton candy appetizer. The dining experience starts with 6 small plates in a separate section of the restaurant. This really adds to the uniqueness of the dining experience. Each appetizer was more delectable than the last. For dinner, you are given the option to pair with juices or alcoholic drinks—we did one of each—or you can mix the two pairings, or not pair at all and do juice or wine by the glass or not at all. Once finished with appetizers, moved to dining table for dinner. The bread selection and vegan butter amazing. The dishes and pairings are highly original and superb vegan cuisine. Service was truly impeccable with plenty of waitstaff to ensure we were never looking for someone to help. The only two downsides were the quantity of the juice provided in the juice pairings—a bit skimpy, and the limited wine selection. Consider a bit more in the juice glass and a more extensive wine selection. Otherwise, simply divine!

Pros: Unique dining experience, Amazing vegan cuisine, Impeccable service

Cons: Not enough juice in each juice pairing, Limited fine wine selection

Nice and different experience

The place is cosy and modern and has two ambiances: one for the starters with armchairs, sofas and low tables, so you get as comfortable as at home. And the other with proper tables and chairs for the rest of the menu.
There is one degustation menu, you only choose if you want or not the pairing (alcoholic or non alcoholic)
We had 5 starters and 5 or 6 courses (I got lost counting with the pairing 😅) and 2 desserts. Some of the plates were really good and original, others a bit disappointing, as the last one with mushrooms and a very “meaty” sauce.
For me, too many tuber and bread and I missed tofu, legume or cereals.
But at the end, the experience is definitely recommendable.

Pros: Nice ambiance, Lots of food, To try something new

Cons: Too much tubers, No protein

Top Veggie Place in Copenhagen

This is one of the best vegetarian high end restaurants in Denmark. When I was there there was a choice of 3 or 5 dishes. Lots of very small exclusive things with a Thai twist.

Pros: High quality ingredients, Good non-intrusive service, Lots of extras for free

Cons: None

Amazing experience as a vegan/gluten free

Amazing experience! Me and my girlfriend went here in February 2020. We asked them to have our food made vegan, and one of them also gluten free, something they happily accommodated.

Upon arrival you're greeted with a nice smile and are asked to take a seat in the lounge for some snacks (4 or 5, can't remember). You are also asked what you would like to drink to the snacks, and also for the dinner. To the snacks you have the option to drink for example champagne, drink of the night (alcohol free alternative is available), wine etc. To the dinner you have the options of either wine pairing or juice pairing. You can also chose one glass of wine or juice, or a whole bottle of wine (or of course water if you're not interested in the pairings).

The snacks arrived in a rapid pace, but did not feel rushed what so ever. They are also presented in a lovely, inspirational and new-thinking way. It is very noticeable that the chefs are playing with their creativity then creating the menus. The same goes for the dinner - the servings were all presented in a very pleasant and creative way, and the staff is very nice and helpful if you have any questions.

The amount of truffle used in many of the dishes made us weep a bit out of joy, and the flavors were spot on it most dishes (some could have had a tad more flavor but everything was still tasty). The only thing we really did not enjoy as much was the dessert. Don't get me wrong, they tasted very good, but they were not very creative. First we got a coconut ice cream, and then we got a mango sorbet. To end such a creative dinner with kinda basic desserts was a bit disappointing.

We were a bit nervous that since we asked to get a vegan menu they would just remove all animal products from the "normal" dishes. However, we happily discovered that this was not the case. Instead of cheese they used either vegan cheese or made their own cheese based on for example cashews or other nuts. They also made meringues with chickpea water instead of eggs. I've seen some reviews stating that this place is not worth it if you ask for the vegan menu, but I do not agree at all. We did not feel that anything was left out due to the fact that we ate vegan. The only thing that was changed a bit was the gluten free dishes (for example I got a tempura fried flower whereas my girlfriend who ate gluten free got more of the gluten free options).

And yes, it is pricey, but it is totally worth it!

Pros: Super tasty, Creative food, Sweet staff

Cons: Not very creative desserts

Best for vegetarians

This place is really nice and the food is tasty and elegant. But the vegan options is just the vegetarian ones but without the milk og egg og cheese they don’t go the ekstra mile for the vegans and at that prize I think its a shame and a bit to ekspensive.

Don't bother

My husband and I were here in June 2019. We unable to secure a reservation in 2018 so we were looking forward to the evening. Unfortunately, we found veve to be pretentious and extremely over priced. The appetizers came at us so quickly that we asked them to slow down. They did not. I suppose they had to stay on schedule. The dining experience became almost silly. Each wine was presented as "special". we overheard other servers and realized it was all scripted. One of the "courses" was a stalk of mediocre white asparagus. The next "course" was a stalk of green asparagus! Another dish came with a syringe of tofu to squirt into a broth. Weird. The bill came to over $400. We left extremely disappointed. Hope this helps someone else.

Cons: small portions, they try too hard

Not worth it for a vegan

The food was surely interesting and original. The service was not so professional. For instance, they forgot a couple of times that we had ordered the vegan menu, and food that had already been served had to be taken out again after we pointed it out. If you are a vegan, don't go for the petit four "skattejagt" ("treasure hunt") after the tasting menu: Only half of the items could be made vegan, and you anyway pay the full price. Not worth it! In general, I would have expected more of a restaurant this expensive that specializes in plant-based food.
