My childhood dreams come true - Edit
I grew up in Morgantown, vegan since I was a kid, there was literally nowhere to get vegan food except maybe the Chinese restaurant downtown.
Read moreVenerable Bean delivers my vegan childhood dreams in the form of cakes and cookies and pepperoni rolls (I live in Texas now and we call them kolaches, but whatever they are, you can get vegan ones).
If only I could go back in time and tell teenage me that someday there would be vegan treats in the middle of town.
If I had one complaint it’s that I’m spoiled by beautiful and colorful vegan baked treats from other bakeries I’ve been to, and VB treats are more… domestic looking, homemade, but that doesn’t detract from the flavor one bit. Maybe just not something you’d get for an office party or a kid’s birthday.
Pros: All vegan!, It’s right there! Right downtown!, Delicious
Cons: No negatives except pay parking, not the most beautiful baked goods ever

Loved your story about this place; I’m tentatively going to try it this weekend.

Good, and great service - Edit
We stopped by during the pandemic, and although we hadn't ordered ahead we placed our order from the sidewalk and were pleased with our box of treats.

Good put pricey - Edit
Pretty good but a little pricey. I got a vegan pepperoni roll for $4, which was almost entirely bread. Flavor was good.

Love this place!!!! - Edit
Lots and lots of awesome vegan sweets and some sandwiches to choose from. Also located in the Co_op so you get anything else you need. Vegan apple & pear tart was wonderful. It had lots of apples-just how I love it. The lemon cake with raspberry icing was also great. My non-vegan friend got the chocolate cake and was highly impressed.

Great place for quick snack - Edit
We stopped here in here while we were passing through West Virginia. I was impressed with how helpful/ friendly all the employees were. We got a few snacks to go, including dessert (so good!). Everything was delicious but was a little pricey for the small amount of food we got. I would definitely stop here again if I were passing through the area.

I get all of my special occasion cakes here and they’re great! They also have sandwiches and various other lunch items for purchase as well as a case full of delectable baked goods! The coop in which they’re located has lots of vegan products as well!

Lovely Bakery - Edit
During our holiday travels, we made a stop in Morgantown for lunch. The Venerable Bean is more a bakery than a lunch spot and the gentleman at the place gave us lots of other suggestions for places in the area. Looking for a quick bite before getting on the road, we stayed, intrigued by the charm of the place. The Quinoa and Kale soup was off the hook amazing, we ended up getting a third cup to share. My husband enjoyed the Cornbread Muffins and our son and I were happy to dig into a Chocolate Cake. Also, there is a co-op grocery store connected to the bakery, so we also picked up bananas and some drinks, too. (Must always have bananas.) We hope to stop by again, the next time we are headed west.

Fabulous - Edit
I've never received a bad product from VB! Everything is scrumptious and very well priced for the quality! A few items I recommend are his Double Chocolate Brownies w/ Vanilla Cream, Vanilla Cakes w/ Vanilla Custard & Ganache(GF), and Gingerbread Cookies (if it's Autumn/Winter)!

I had the lemon poppy seed scone my husband had the cinnamon roll and my daughter had the chocolate chips cookie. All Vegan. It was nice to have these treats and not have to make them myself. They tasted good and we will be going back.

great vegan bakery - Edit
The Venerable Bean has a great selection of delicious vegan baked goods and a few home made vegan sandwiches! During the fall and winter there is always a pot of soup. The "chicken" dumpling soup is great! Feel very fortunate to have such a high quality all vegan bakery in the town I call home!

awesome vegan treats - Edit
Whenever we have a birthday or any other event, I order a cake from this bakery. The other baked goods available from them at the Mountain People's Coop are excellent also. Try the cinnamon rolls, lemon cake or anything else they make. Vegan decadence not found elsewhere.

Kick-ass vegan baked goods! - Edit
Lots of amazing vegan baked goods and quite a few gluten-free options. My favorites have been by far the oatmeal cream pies. The filling is to die for. Also offer a vegan version of the pepperoni roll.
