I ordered Rasta pasta, shrimp Poboy, greens, and mac & cheese… Yes I was hungry and yes I wanted to try everything! Everything was absolutely amazing! It’s like they cooked it especially for me. I can’t wait to go back and do it all over again. Oh wait, Did I forget dessert? Absolutely not! They had this poundcake that was every bit of life-giving. It definitely was made by somebody’s grandmother, that’s the only way it could be that good! I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to any and everyone who is in Charlotte and even if you are out of the area, go visit and eat their food I promise you will be very happy!

As a born and grown southerner, this place really hits the spot. You don’t come across vegan places that know how to season often but this place is a gem. And they’re location is so cute too! Plenty of shops and non-vegan friendly restaurants for all your picky friends and family😉

I hate doing this! I have given this place at least 5 do overs after their relocation and they still disappoint, wasting so much money. They increased the prices to not fill the to-go containers. The Mac and cheeze is ALWAYS dry (if you’re closed on Monday I would expect the Tuesday Mac to be fresh), when I tried the Buffalo mushroom bites they tasted like straight grease and nothing else-couldn’t even taste the buffalo sauce- actually made me sick, the crab cakes taste like a box of stuffing that was balled up and pressed into a patty on the grill, the potato salad tasted like straight pickles, anything else I’ve tried to order they were out of or never had so not sure why they needed to change the menu. When they were located on Tryon in north Charlotte they were the go to vegan spot with savory food and great prices (usually $12 for a burger/ chicken sandwich, two sides and a piece of cornbread). After they moved they turned into another over priced, flavorless vegan spot I can’t bring my non-vegan friends too bc it will turn them off. Really wanted to try the brunch but after 5 disappointing experiences I can’t keep setting myself up for failure. I hope your experience is better but be prepared to be let down.

The fries are seasoned and fried amazingly.
The fried chicken is absolutely divine.
The potato salad makes you literally say "that was vegan??"
The crab cakes werent on the nose in terms of texture but the flavor was spot on.
I cannot wait to come back!

This is a great location for this restaurant. I ordered food for pick up (1 meal with 2 sides and an extra side of baked beans). We were 10 minutes away and when we got there waited another 10 minutes. They make their food in order of when it arrives so the wait made sense.

First the staff was amazing! They went above & beyond to explain dishes, chk ingredients (my sons both have food allergies) & provide wonderful service... Second the space was great. It was the first time we had eaten out at a restaurant in almost 2 yrs (since covid-19 started). We felt comfortable eating here because of how clean the space was, how large the space was & the fact masks are worn by staff & customers... And lastly the food - We ordered a lot so I'll talk about each item a bit; FRIED PICKLES 4/5 ... MAPLE BACON BURGER 5/5! Deeelicious!! ... Fries 5/5 so flavorful!! ... DRUMSTICKS 3.5/5 too salty ... CRAB CAKES 5/5 ... YAMS 5/5 ... MAC N CHEESE 2/5 two did not like the mac at all. Quite.a weird taste to it ... Cornbread 5/5 ... Also they were out of all of the subs, nachos & ribs - two of those things we went there for so that was disappointing BUT overall we were content w the experience so we will come back next trip & hopefully they'll have those options then! The burger, fries & yams alone are worth going back for 🖤

i tried the not popeye’s chick’n sandwich with their sweet heat sauce and it was absolutely phenomenal, kind of reminded me of a chick-fil-a sandwich from my non vegan days. i also had the onion rings which were breaded to perfection. my friend had the maple bacon burger and fries which i also tried and were spot on as well. in terms of vegan food the prices are in the average ballpark of what you’d expect but they are a black, queer owned business so i don’t mind giving them all my $!

My first time trying VelTree, I took a random road trip to Charlotte specifically for that. I’m so glad I did! I ordered the chick’n & waffles and it was sooo good. A few weeks later, I went back and tried the country fried chick’n. It was delicious as well. The yams were def on point! The food was also fresh and hot. And there was plenty of it! Will definitely be going back.

I tried Veltree for the first time a few weeks ago and the food was pretty decent. I got the vegan chicken drumsticks, collard greens, yams, mac and cheese, cornbread and some soul rolls. My dad got the vegan crab cakes and mac and cheese. It was good for the most part, but my meal was also a little pricey being over 30 dollars. I support the restaurant mainly because it’s black owned and they have good options overall. I will definitely try something different next time because they got many things to choose from!

The restaurant is very small and feels like they don't really want you to eat there, but rather order to go. Very friendly people and the food was phenomenal. Best vegan mac n cheese I've ever had! I got the drumsticks and my husband got the curry that was a special of the day. Very generous sized portions.

I am new in town and looking for vegan food in the Charlotte area. Found these folks on happy cow and I’m so glad I stopped in. I had the chick’n sandwich, Mac and cheese, and corn bread.
