The New England VegFest - Edit
I have attended four New England VegFests, my first around 10 years ago when it was still called the Worcester Veg Food Fest, and my most recent last week.
Read moreLast week, I attended during the early-bird hour, 11am to noon, when I paid admission for the privilege of being able to chat with every vendor and exhibitor with whom I wished, without lots of other people crowding around the tables and competing for the exhibitors' attention. That early bird hour was well worth the slight cost. By the time I left at 12:30pm, the huge tidal wave of people flowing in was so thick that it was difficult to go against the flow while trying to exit.
All four events have been well organized, with ample signage where needed inside and out, and an army of volunteers available, so many in fact that some seemed to be just standing around. When it was previously held at the DCU downtown convention center, parking was abysmal. The organizers were aware of that, hence their more recent move back to the college campus, where they held the first one I attended 10 years ago. At the campus, parking was ample, and outdoors lots of food trucks were able to be accommodated. Last week, the first VegFest post-covid, two entire gyms were rented, so there was plenty of room among the vendors and between the aisles.
The volunteers of VegWorcester are to be commended for their gallant yearlong efforts culminating in successful one-day events. Expressed in the vernacular, "Good job!"
Pros: the vast array of exhibitors and vendors, the ample parking now that it was moved from DCU
