Portugese hours - Edit
We came half hour after it was suppose to be open, but it was just slowly opening then. So expect portugese hours when you come here. The experience was very nice because Monica is a lovely lady, but you can’t be short on time when you come. So bring time and a good mood and eat delicious food. The coconut pai is amazing!!

Just what you hope for a concious eating place to be. Veggie Momi is a simple beautiful premise with some very good food on the menu. Whatever you don't get , Momi helps you and sometimes customises things that she senses you'd like ...:) . Go and eat here if you are vegan /gluten free person.

Albufeira Fave - Edit
Veggie Momi was our "go to" restaurant every day during our 4 days in Albufeira. I can't say enough good things about Monica and her restaurant. Among our fave dishes were Toasties, Chilli, Pizza, Tofu Scramble, smoothies, and a variety of creative desserts made daily.
Read moreBeyond the food, Monica is friendly, authentic, engaging, and very knowledgeable about animal advocacy, a cause she believes in passionately, and lives/acts accordingly.
Go for the food, but linger for the chance to spend a little time with the animals best friend in Portugal.
Pros: Delicious, fresh food, Low prices, Authenticity

Okay place to go - Edit
Veggie Momi was okay. The curry was quite tasty and so was the coffee, although it would have been nice if it was warm. The "samosas" were a bit too salty and could have had more taste. The owner is very friendly and welcoming, so we would go back again even if it was not the best meal ever.

I left feeling like an awful person - Edit
I drove out of my way specifically to find this restaurant because I wanted to eat some vegan food... I didn’t do any research so all I knew was that they were vegan options at this place After traveling all day on a plane and then renting a car from Faro and stopping on our way to Lagos .. I was really hungry because I hadn’t eaten anything all day.
Read moreSo I entered this place and there was no greeting no one even looked up from what they were doing to say hello and there were two people working. The sign on the door clearly said that you should order at the bar. So I checked out a menu and I ask if you questions about the pizza like if it had vegan cheese on it and so on .. then I decided to order a burger . I was so hungry and oblivious that apparently I never bothered to look around me and see that there was a lot of PETA posters and things on the walls. I WAS JUST REALLY HUNGRY. Even while ordering I got nothing but dirty looks and sarcasm so I was obviously i was really confused and hurt. The woman asked me things like if I wanted it to go because I was just standing there and not sitting... I was really confused because I thought I had to order at the front. Then when she told me she could put cheese on the burger I ask her if it was vegan because I just wanted to make sure and she gave me the craziest attitude ever and told me that I needed to take a look around me
I have never felt so belittled and so small in my entire life and I left that place crying and had my husband tell her that I didn’t want my food anymore so that I could get out of there. I have no idea what I did wrong But I hope no one ever has to feel the way I did walking in that place.

Incredible, completely vegan food, all homemade, in a cozy, peaceful and intimate environment, like you're visiting a good friend's home. Full of positivity and love, but without compromising the strong importance of justice and freedom for our animal friends.
I highly recommend visiting, not just because you won't regret the delicious food or the connections, friendships, and sharing of great ideas, but also to experience the great energy and vision of peace and justice. It's a business (and hostess) not afraid to show the truth, that wears its heart on its sleeve and doesn't succumb to society's pressure. This raw attitude of truth and ethics is exactly what people need, and won't regret, hearing.
We need more of this in the world; principled vegan businesses with true activism as their main objective and not just as a profit gimmick, who could sell out at the first sign of problems.
A cause definitely worth supporting!
Pros: Comfort Food, Homemade, Positive, Cozy Environment, Uncompromising Ethical Message

Not too impressed - Edit
I went here in September 2018. This was pretty much the only vegan place in the Old Town / touristy side of town. It's quite small and has a bit of an alternative vibe going on. It's full of animal rights posters and info materials which is a positive in my book. The owner is very passionate about veganism and really plays a pioneer role in Albufeira which deserves to be honoured. Yet he food, unfortunately, isn't quite up to scratch. I ordered the "prato do dia" - lasagna - and a mushroom dish. None of the food is cooked fresh -- there are apparently no cooking facilities in the store -- but the owner just sticks them in the microwave and a small oven. The lasagna was unfortunately not all too appealing on first sight and taste, too. It just tasted of undercooked tomato puree and salty soy cheese without any subtle flavours. The mushroom dish was served on "fries" which were just completely soaked through by the sauce on top. Bill came to approx. 16 euros. All in all, it was a bit disappointing. Luckily, Albufeira has some better options on the East side of town.

Welcome to a friend's house! - Edit
It's more than a restaurant. It's a place of education. The restaurant manager is very educated and informed about all the animal and vegan cause, and she does not hesitate to explain and spread knowledge. We arrived after 3pl, but we still tasted the dish of the day that was delicious. It's homemade food invented and personalized at the moment. I didn't feel that I was in a restaurant but a friend's house! I highly recommend!

É comida caseira, inventada e personalizada no momento. Não me senti num restaurante, mas sim numa casa de uma amiga. Recomendo muito!

Cute little café and shop run solely by one vegan animal rights activist. There are daily specials and also pizza, burger a a wrap on the menu. My partner and I shared a pizza, plate of the day (salad and seitan) and chocolate cake with coffees. The food was all very tasty, especially the chocolate cake. The lattes were huge and only €2! Everything was great value and we enjoyed it all. The owner is very friendly and raising awareness of veganism in Portugal through her cafe and activism.
