Out of the ordinary

Despite the abundance of vegetarian eateries in this burg, my search for freshly prepared light meals kept coming up short. Finally, when wandering in an unfamiliar neighborhood to kill time while waiting for a phone repair, I stumbled upon this little gem (what discoveries can be made when not staring into the phone!). Bonus - something new for me: Korean-style vegetarian cuisine.

Although there's no indoor seating, and the outdoor seating is limited and near a busy road, the dining area still has a cozy charm, thanks to smart choices in decoration. Meals are deceptively simple - a variety of vegetables in light sauces. But with each mouthful, the subtle complex of sweet, spicy, and savory tastes that emerges not only immediately delights, but also leaves deep and lasting impressions. As a result, these meals have even inspired me to take new approaches to meals prepared at home.

There's an English menu that features hot pot, bibimbap (Korean-style rice bowl), kimchi glass noodles, rice balls with seasoned seaweed, and other delights. In addition, despite being quite busy taking/preparing/serving orders, the multi-talented owner seems relaxed and comfortable conversing in English about the dishes, and generally helping customers to feel welcome - which also leaves a deep and lasting impression.
