Lots of options!

I had a great experience at Veggic! The food does not seem to be more expensive than the other local restaurants nearby. May not be as cheap as some local falafel but definitely worth the price. I’ll be going back there for lunch again tomorrow.

Pros: Lots of vegetarian options, Good location, Friendly staff, speak English

Delicious food, friendly service

Plovdiv is a beautiful historic town, yet not so big and up till recently there were not so many veg options. I was pleasantly surprised during my latest visit to find new vegetarian and vegan restaurants have opened and even more surprised on my visit to Veggic to see the place full on a workday afternoon. The food was much above what I had expected - so rich, tasty and beautifully presented. The Hommos was one of the best I have tasted, the Burrito was out of this world. Definitely going again on my next trip to Plovdiv.

Pros: Delicious food, Reasonable prices, Friendly service

Great vegan GF options, Ask about honey

We ate in, and liked it so much we had a take away another time (try food panda) great to find somewhere that caters for GF V in Plovdiv. A few dishes contain honey, so just need to ask. Recommend the spicy potatoes.

Pros: Vegan restaurant (except honey), Delicious food, Good service

Cons: Use honey in a lot of dishes

Very good vegan food

We went for dinner and had the tapas( bruschetta with vegan cheese), burrito and burger.
The tapas with vegan cheese was amazing, the burrito was awesome too and the burger was very good but I liked the burrito more.
Very friendly staff and nice place to sit outside.

Pros: good value, great tasty food, alc free beer

Cons: they still do serve plastic straws in soft drinks

We stopped here for lunch and we were so glad we did!
Lots of options we could have ordered everything on the menu.

Great find in Plovdiv

What a treat to find this veggie cafe/restaurant in Plovdiv's old town. I ordered burrito and craft beer and both were excellent. Perfect after a long day's travelling.

Definitely have had better

Quite small restaurant with some indoor (also on 2nd floor) and outdoor tables.
We were disappointed by the food. We chose two dishes from the cooked section and a salad. The first one turned out to be a small portion of rice with some raisins and cashews and the second one fried tempeh on a cold green salad. (In the menu there was also a seitan option, but obviously that one was not available during winter season.) Thus, we were lacking a cooked, fried or whatever warm vegetable component that would satisfy our need for vitamins (without the risk of feeling even colder as after the salad) and that would also fill our stomachs. There was no such vegetable choice even not as add to another dish (actually I think, we already got the dishes with the highest amount of vegetables from what I saw).
Furthermore, we perceived the food to be quite salty if not to say too much salted.
The atmosphere could have been nice, if not for the noise of the semi-open kitchen and the door that was left open by the waiter any time he went out (it was winter!). The staff could have been friendlier, too.

We gave two stars because firstly the dishes were decorated appealingly (so they gave it a try) and secondly because they were vegan, which is not common in this area of Europe.

Pros: Food was arranged appealingly

Cons: Lacks vegetable components in main dishes, "Cooked" dishes rather cold in nature (salads!), Too much salt

Tasty!

It’s easy to find on a little pedestrian street in Kapana, the creative/hipster neighbourhood of Plovdiv. Fairly small place with a few tables inside and a couple outside on the street.

We had a bruschetta, tofu burrito, and the daily special, which was a kind of curried rice with coconut milk, veggies, apple and nuts.
Everything was really tasty and the prices were very fair for the portion size. Eg. the burrito and bruschetta were only 4 leva each and the daily special was 8. The rice dish came out cold though and definitely would’ve been even better hot, every time we order the “daily special” in Bulgaria it seems like they don’t bother heating it up haha.

Overall great lunch, would recommend :)

Pros: cool location, fast service, affordable

Comida excepcional, servicio malo.

We only had an entree and a main. A little expensive but really really tasty. Nice vibe, friendly waiter. Wish we had time to go back and try other dishes

The new Veggic is great

I ate here recently for the first time since they shut down and moved to a new location, but can I just say how much better it is.

The location is so much nicer, it's in the centre, and there is more outdoor seating now.
The menu has so many more interesting things than before, such as tempeh and seitan! They also do wraps and sandwiches which are soo good.

So far I've been three times now and tried different things every time. All of it has been delicious.

However, there is still honey on the menu, which is a shame. Make sure to check the contents of the desserts and drinks if you're vegan.

Pros: The food is really good

Cons: Not fully vegan

Amazing food

This place IS open and easy to find in Kapana. The food is lovely - we tried one of the bruschetta options and their wraps ( I recommend the tofu one!). We only ate lunch snacks but they were large portions and washed it down with lovely wine.

Pros: Many choices, all vegan (check no honey), Fast service and inexpensive , Lovely location in Kapana

Cons: Not many tables

Veggic is no more!

Turned up today, to find sadly that this place has closed down and is in the process of being converted into an Armenian restaurant. Very disappointed!!

LOVE THIS PLACE!

Finally, a place in Bulgaria that can make proper vegan food. It really is a beautiful place, with creative dishes, huge menu, and also daily menus and special menus periodically. The hot chocolate was incredible, as was the hummus.

Keep in mind, though, they some of the dishes are made with honey, so for some that's a no-no. For me, I didn't mind, but just a warning!

Would highly recommend

Pros: quality of food, price

disappointment of holidays

We tried this restaurant during holidays and we were a bit disappointed with the food (especially because all I have tried in this country was very good). We waited for a longtime and were surprised that the food served was almost cold.
A lot of choices but not really tasty. Nice staff.

Pros: nice staff

Cons: not tasty, small portions

Fabulous vegan cafe

What a wonderful vegan meal. We chose the daily offerings and the food was fantastic, as were the fresh juices and especially the raw desserts. The lady there explained some of the desserts were not vegan as they have honey, I was very impressed with her understanding of this.

They were accommodating when we took a baby in, there was a high chair but it was being used.

Lovely decor and atmosphere.

Overall 5* and great to see vegan in Bulgaria.

Pros: Choice, speed of service, quality of food

Nice restaurant - watch out for stealth honey

As pointed out by the previous reviewer, this restaurant serves honey so is not 100% vegan! Despite this, the staff will assure you everything is vegan (this happened to me elsewhere too, maybe the definition of veganism is slightly different in Bulgaria for some reason?) - just make extra clear when ordering that you don't eat honey and you should be fine. (I have also asked Happy Cow to change this listing from 'vegan' to 'vegetarian').

Food-wise, the menu is clearly aimed at more health conscious vegans than myself - the majority of the menu is raw. I opted for a cooked meal of quinoa and vegetables with basil which was ok at best - very watery, tasteless and it didn't fill me up. Because I was still hungry I had a chocolate tart for pudding (they had lots of puddings but this was the only one which didn't contain honey) which was very tasty and kind of made up for the disappointing main course.

The meal was also quite pricey- a main, dessert and smoothie was 20lv - the most expensive meal I ate in Bulgaria by far.

Overall it was fine - there aren't loads of vegan options in Plovdiv and the restaurant itself is quite nice - perhaps I just got unlucky with the main. Just be careful of the honey!

Pros: choclate tart, nice restaurant, they have vegan wines

Cons: restaurant staff assure you everything is vegan bu, not impressed with quinoa main, expensive

Good selection

Really well presented food with equally great taste. Service was great and the location was only a few minutes walk from the main city street.
