A standout option - just go and try it! - Edit
This is arguably the best vegan restaurant in the north east. It’s looks modest from the outside but within it has some stylish menu items particularly amongst the starters. It has a lovely atmosphere and is deservedly popular. I would love to have this as a regular weekly option and will certain make it a first choice when visiting Newcastle.

Plant based heaven - Edit
I've been longing for an eatery where the welcome was as good as the experience and finally we've found it. Vegano is a vegan's dream however, fit for everyone's pallet because of their mouth watering menu. It's a chilled environment with a great friendly service. There's a good few tables but I imagine booking a table is a good idea. We had the truffle fries, walnut and lentil pate, coleslaw, artichokes, carbonara and to finish, tiramisu. It was the only menu in a long time where even though I was full, I could have tried everything else. There were specials on and a list of other deserts.

Pros: Well priced, delicious plant based everything , Warmly welcomed, Huge choice

Comfortably Vegan - Edit
Read moreThis is a beautiful place run by dedicated and caring vegan people. They really appreciate the fact you’ve decided to spend some time with them to part with your hard earned money, paper or otherwise. We’ve been a number of times over the years since it first opened and tried their fantastically unique burgers and kebabs amongst other things. On our most recent visit in December 2022 we decided to go Italian and shared a ridiculously delicious yet delightfully unhealthy deep fried ravioli starter, a sublime penne arrabiata and a succulently fabulous pizza topped with spicy sausage. Vegano is there for your discovery and one of the last few remaining 100% vegan jewels of Newcastle upon the river of Tyne.
Pros: 100% vegan, Lovely interior , Fabulous food
Cons: No extraction fan in kitchen

Baked camembert and truffle mac n cheese = yum! - Edit
The baked camembert and the truffle mac n cheese were really incredible in their texture and taste.
Read moreStaff were knowledgeable and helpful with finding gluten free options.
There were quite a few vegan junk options on the menu which isn't our thing, so there weren't that many options to choose from. The ones we did choose were very good though.

A killer kebab on the Tyne - Edit
Great little place for 100% vegan food! There are plenty of options and the staff are friendly and happy to suggest things off the menu. The I had hot chocolate with cream 😍 and the mixed kebab. The portions are huge! We had tatter tots and garlic bread as sides, we were stuffed!

A had the Ultimate Chez Burger and it was best burger I’ve had (been vegan 6 years and had many). The burger sauce made it! You can tell everything is homemade, which I love

Great food - Edit
We booked here on a Saturday night as there don’t seem to be too many vegan places in Newcastle open on a Saturday night. The menu looked fairly simple, burgers, kebabs, pasta and pizza. I ordered a berry smoothie which was really tasty. We shared tater tots and they were the nicest tater tots I’ve ever tasted. I’m not sure if it was the sriracha, the chilli or just the spices on them but they were delicious. I ordered a verdure pizza with artichoke, mushrooms and onions, among other things. It was a good sized pizza and filling without feeling like it was too much. It was really nice, from the crust to the toppings. Highly recommend this place. The staff were nice too. My partner enjoyed his pasta dish.

Loved it! - Edit
This place has such a warm, relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. The menu is totally vegan with some creative choices, we enjoyed the deep fried ravioli, truffle mac and cheese, olives and penne carbonara followed by tiramisu. Watch out-we went late on a Saturday evening and a few things had sold or, including the home made baked Camembert😒a hearty meal for two, one dessert and two glasses of wine came to £50 plus service, pretty good. Recommended for vegans and non vegans alike!

Amazing kebab - Edit
We ate here after visiting the Discovery museum and I'm really glad we were in the neighborhood. The kebab was huge and really tasty with loads of salad and spicy sauce. If anything, it was a bit too much and I couldn't finish the chips. The desserts sounded great but we were too full and also had to leave for our train home. Will definitely return if I come back to Newcastle.

Amazing kebabs - Edit
Today myself and my mam (both vegan) went to Newcastle Quayside Market and i finally got to try one of Vegano's kebabs. I had heard many great things about them. The kebab was huge, but it was also so lovley that i was determined to finish it, it was filled with fresh salad plenty of their chicken substitute and a beautifully tasty and fresh sauce. The staff were lovely and the food was prepared to order but very quickly. Definitely will have again.

The food here is SO delicious. It tastes like food your mum/grandma would make (if they were Mediterranean, that is).

The portions are huge but so addictive they leave you wanting to eat more!

Great service, tasty food - Edit
2019: We came in the evening and enjoyed really delicious bruschetta to share, carbonara pasta and no-meat ball pasta. Really tasty, all of it! Service great, the friendly staff explained that the breakfast and lunch menu are separate and brought them over for us to see. We could see for example maple pancake stack or overnight muesli which would defo be chosen for a breakfast option, the lunch menu also had a burger etc as well as pasta. A new direction food-wise compared to the Sunday morning truck so not what we were expecting but very nice indeed. Nicely decorated cafe with shelves made out of sections of pipe and wood boards and bar stools also a mixture of wood and metal. The evening menu seems slightly limited in terms of choices but if this keeps thing simple so they can provide tasty food and good service then so be it!
Read moreJune 2021: much bigger menu these days. Bruschetta a highlight. Facon bits a bit strange on the mac n cheese as so ‘hard’ felt like bits of uncooked pasta! Burger tasty but once deconstructed not photogenic!! Lots, not hungry when left!!!!
Dec 2021: nice quiet bite after booster jab. Baked camembert starter AMAZING. Oldboy burger lovely and juicy. Special kebab pizza very nice indeed. No room for pudding!!!

Vegano - Edit
Absolutely delightful fully vegan cafe. We had the bruschetta and pate to start; both were divine. For mains I had the carbonara which was rich and full of flavour, and my husband had the burger, which he described as up there with the best. The staff were attentive and lovely and the mood and atmosphere is relaxed with a genuine sense that this business is ethically driven. Loved it 😍

Delicious food - can't wait to go back! - Edit
We visited Vegano in May 2021 and what a find it was! Lots of options - pizza, pasta, burgers, kebabs and everything sounded delicious. We had the mixed kebab (which was huge and tasty) and a spaghetti carbonara ( a bit smaller but just as tasty). The biscoff cheesecake was out of this world. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town!
