Home away from home - Edit
Such a lovely atmosphere! I ordered on uber eats before going, and it was definitely even tastier in person. I personally preferred the tan tan style ramen the best. It’s thick and creamy and filling. The vanilla ice cream is also one of the best vegan ice creams I’ve ever had. I would definitely go again and again.

Like dining in someone’s home - Edit
The most excellent ramen in soy milk based soup, served in a very cosy setting that feels like you’re in someone’s home. Very much worth the 20-30 minute trip from downtown.

Lovely - Edit
Cosy place for lunch. Soy milk ramen was a first for us and we didn't expect to love it but it was tasty. As it is out of the way we would not personally return but very glad to have gone. Would recommend if up for the trek.

Delicious bowl of soymilk ramen! - Edit
Wonderful rich and creamy bowl of soymilk ramen, delicious selection of sides and a few desserts as well. Lots of options to customise your bowl to your liking. I especially recommend the Musashi and Tantan ramen, also don't miss out on the eggplant sushi! Very cozy atmosphere inside and friendly owner. Definitely come here if you are in Kyoto for a while!

You must go here! - Edit
I would literally fly to Kyoto from the USA just to eat here again. Los Angeles has some great vegan food but there is no place like this place… 😭💗

This is my favourite restaurant in the world - Edit
I may change my mind in the future as I haven’t been to every country yet, but as it stands this is my favourite restaurant in the world. I will travel to Kyoto every time I visit Japan to go here. I last visited in 2020 (working through a review backlog) and I still dream about the Tantanmen sometimes.
Read moreNot only is the food delicious but the restaurant itself is cute and quaint and ethereal at the same time.

Amazing! Favorite place in Kyoto - Edit
Really tasty and original ramen provide the main course for the set meal, in a beautiful Japanese home setting. The Yuba shashimi and eggplant unagi sushi are excellent as well. The sesame latte was a nice drink. The cake was fine but didn’t live up to the rest of the food

Cozy restaurant - Edit
Very friendly staff and nice sesame ice cream. The mushroom ramen was not salty enough for my taste tough. Next time I‘ll try the tantan ramen.

Creamy soy milk ramen - Edit
The soy milk ramen from Towzen is creamy and very rich in flavour. I had the chance to eat there a few times and tried two versions of soy milk ramen: tantan for the spicy lovers, and musashi. I was feeling brave and had the electrifying musashi! Such and experience. I also had the aubergine sushi and tried the ramen soy milk soup with rice, it was like a super-creamy risotto. All very tasty and filling, and with generous portions. I tried other ramens with soy milk, but Towzen one is different because the broth base is soy milk, not just one of the ingredients that you add at a veggie broth, I guess that is what makes it so special and creamy. I can't wait to go again and try the rice bowls and chlorella noddles. Don't miss Ramen Towzen if you are in Kyoto. They also do DELIVERY!

Great food, friendly staff, cute venue. The restaurant asks guests not to use phones or take photos inside, so I didn’t take pictures. A lot of the reviews say it was hard to find, but we used google maps and had no issues. Would highly recommend the green cake!

Uniquely amazing ramen. EDIT: Twice in two days - Edit
This is my second visit and I guarantee it won’t be my last. The memory of how good their ramen was what brought me back to Japan for another holiday.
Read moreWe ordered the Musashi (a little spicy) and the Tamtam (a little spicy). Both with chlorella. The first thing you notice when they arrive is how thick the broth is. Normally vegan ramen is a little bit on the thin side, but this is one of the thickest broths I’ve seen. The ramen itself is one of the tastiest things I’ve ever had and has a flavour unlike any other ramen.
I originally wanted this holiday to be a food safari, but I’ll probably go back there in a few days. I wouldn’t be mad if I had to eat every meal there until I left Kyoto!
Also they do UberEats, which seems great!
Edit: went back the next day for Lunch. Had the tamtam (spicy). Still very enjoyable but not as great as the Musashi.
Pros: Unique and amazing flavour, Cute shop, Friendly staff

This place wasn't easy to find, and it was raining a lot which didn't help, but all's well that ends well! Check out the photos people have posted before going, so you know what to look for, and that should help you find the place. I forgot to do that before going and the photos wouldn't load while I was out and on data.

Delicious ramen in a charming place - Edit
Vegan Ramen Towzen was a pleasant surprise, with perhaps the tastiest ramen I've ever had, served with gentle sweetness. I had the traditional ramen with the addition of chlorella, which I'd recommend (unless you're after a more traditional ramen). Service was very warm and helpful, with some English spoken.
