Staff Overcharges, makes up new prices - Edit
Today I went to Vegan Mob for my second time. I ordered the fried vegan chicken protein ($8) and selected the make it a combo with 1 side and 1 drink for an extra $5. Not only did the person working not honor the price ($13 as advertised), she said the price was $22 (which is $5 more than the large combo plate which includes 3 sides; I ordered the large combination plate on my first visit here). I would have happily paid a reasonable price... But when she overcharged me and charged me an amount greater than the large plate, I felt taken advantage of, so I cancelled my order and took my business elsewhere. ***Vegan Mob, please honor your prices or update your prices. Thank you.***

An absolute must for vegans! - Edit
I've been here three times and everything I've tried has been excellent! If you're craving comfort food like brisket, Mac and cheese, nachos, and big (messy) sandwiches then this is the place! They have two locations, as well as a food truck. Highly recommend following them on IG so you can see when their coming to your city!

Tried two different locations - Edit
I first tried vegan mob at their San Jose location (I think they’ve closed it down since then) and I was not disappointed I had the chicken burger, coleslaw, & wings. I would give that place 5 stars ,But when I went down to their Oakland location… it was like a whole different restaurant, the food was a little cold, it was hard, no flavor. I had wings, spaghetti, mac n cheese. I was so sad. I think because it’s a busier location the food quality isn’t as good.

I went nuts with three fake meat options that are hard to get elsewhere and they satisfied! The brisket is a must-try, 5/5 for sure. Great texture, great sauce, and smoky. The rib tips were good but a little too sweet for me. The fake shrimp is has a great texture. My friend's Impossible Burger was A top tier, though you can get good Impossible Burgers in a lot of places. The fries were meh.

OMG!! The food is ahhhhmaaaaazzzzing! I had the large plate with ribs, yams, greens and mac. I couldn’t even get to the cobbler. Sooooooo much good food. My husband thought the fried chick’n WAS chicken until we told him.

I am not vegetarian nor vegan but I enjoyed this place. The greens were so flavorful! And the gumbo was as close as possible to real gumbo. I am expanding my palate into vegan options and this was a great choice. I highly recommend.

Now I can’t judge authenticity of the soul food but the food here is pretty darn good. Everything is packed with flavor. We had the Po boy, gumbo and sweet potato pie. Po boy was greasy for me but still couldn’t stop eating it!

I was super hyped to try this place, but ended up disappointed with the food. It might just be a matter of preference, since I don’t like the taste of meat. I had the spicy fried chicken and was really shocked by how much it resembled real chicken. If you’re vegan and miss the taste of meat, then this is the right place for you. I’d rather go to Souley Vegan.

I have been here several times in the last year, and it’s been delicious each time!! I have came with non vegan friends, and even they love it just as much as I do😄The only thing that I would “critique” is that there aren’t more tables set up, but it’s completely understandable considering the location. There’s still lots of grass to chill on and have a picnic at the lake.

Vegan Mob focuses on food and people. The menu is expansive and with many unique finds like a BBQ plater you'd swear was from your good friend's cookout or a green juice that isn't bitter and gives you a kick of energy similar to diet coke. Speaking of, the staff really knows their stuff, when searching for soda on their menu the host explained how diet Coke can be considered dietarily vegan, but not ethically vegan due to aspartame. Knowledge is power. Also, everything I've ordered has been perfectly seasoned!

My partner and I have eaten here many times and we have enjoyed everything we have ordered, but we keep coming back for that shrimp po boy. So so so yummy.

THE BEST VEGAN BBQ - Edit
Vegan Mob has the best Vegan BBQ! I had the Barbequito (aka BBQ Burrito) which includes brisket, mac n cheese, coleslaw, and baked beans. It was DELICIOUS! I also got the mob fries and agua fresca to make it a combo for an extra $5. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area. I went on a Wednesday around 5pm and it was perfect. Only a 20 min wait time for food and even got a spot at one of the tables.

Been following Vegan Mob on social media for awhile. It's very exciting. Pull on up on us, baby! Plates of food. It's Da Mob! Local artists performing. Owner living his dream. All great. Then I finally tried the food and sadly, it was not as good as the hype. I ordered the biggest plate I could so that I could get a variety of things they offer that fall more under soul food. I am open to try some of the other stuff but not sure how good it will be. Recommend: fried chicken, yams, and greens. The mac n cheese was so-so. Avoid the brisket at all costs! It was weirder the more I ate it and had to stop.

I had the sweet potatoes (great) greens (wow way way too salty, I hope it was just a bad batch) coleslaw (fantastic) and some sort of dinner patty that was good. I’d def go back. It was about 35 min between ordering and the food being ready.

Maybe it’s because I’m just not a BBQ person but I did not enjoy the food at all. It was a little TOO fake meat-y for me. Fake shrimp? Yuck! The ick factor was high. The flavors were strong and I just much prefer vegan soul food. Also after waiting in line for 20 minutes they forgot one of the items we ordered and didn’t realize until we got home which was frustrating. Souley vegan is much preferred.

Vegan mob is the bomb. From gumbo soup to Mac cheese, coleslaw to potato salad and bbq brisket, it’s all so so so good. Shrimp is fantastic in any dish too.
