Lots of options, but some issues - Edit
Had not eaten here in a while, found the prices (via delivery service) very high. I really enjoyed the chicken, beans and yams; while my non-veg wife really liked the brisket and potato salad. The chicken was a little salty, but still tasty, but the portion was not that generous for a large sized platter. Finally, very upsetting that the food was packaged in polystyrene, which is illegal in Oakland, i am writing them to note this.
Read morePros: Large menu, Food tastes freshly prepared and is filling
Cons: Prices on the high side, A bit salty, They use ( banned)polystyrene packaging

It’s mostly all hype - Edit
Vegan Mob is always promoted with hella hype on their IG. They got all kinds of folks screamin bout how good it is. I also love supporting small businesses owned-operated by POC. So, on a day trip to the east bay after a nice hike, I went to devour some vegan soul food. I had the combo plate to try as much variety in one shot-brisket, rib tips, spicy chicken, for the 3 proteins, and cole slaw, baked beans, smackaroni, and greens for the 4 sides. I was pretty disappointed that I only liked the rib tips and Tasha’s slaw. Both were flavored well. Rib tips were crunchy on the outside and easy to chew with a nice texture and flavor. But everything else was bland. I’m not gonna go back if the smack

Great portions, great food! - Edit
You will not leave this place hungry. For $15 I got essentially two great homestyle meals, with a ton of variety and richness.

Pull up on 'em - Edit
If you want some great soul food with a vegan flair then hit it. I'd suggest ordering ahead online because wait times and lines can be long. The menu is extensive and the portions are solid. I always get a sampler plates with greens, beans, and mac. Outdoor seating is limited so may be a to go spot. The park is nearby so you can always set up shop there.

Absolutely delicious 😋 - Edit
My brother and I checked out the menu online and decided to go with the Mob Plate. It came with smoked brisket, smackaroni, baked bbq beans and cole slaw. Everything was absolutely delicious. Job well done 👍. I definitely plan on going back and getting their Fried Chicken 🐓

Wanted to love the food - Edit
The food is too salty, and the flavors are always off. Even though I want to love it, I feel sick after eating here every time. Watery beans, soggy fries, and the mac and cheese had the same flavor as the potato salad? Vegan Mob has a great community, and they're genuinely great people, which is why I give 3 stars. And they're conveniently located by the lake, which is a huge plus

Fried Chikn was devine, but… - Edit
This will be a very mixed review, so I’ll get right to it. Ordered the fried chickn, links, Mac n cheese, baked beans, and collard greens. Probably the best vegan fried chicken I’ve ever eaten, and I’ve had quite a bit. Breading was perfectly crispy and meat was juicy, tender, and wonderfully richly flavored. The Mac and Cheese, very good too. Rich and perfectly cheesy, well above average. The baked beans were good, nothing to write home about. Now the bad- got the Links as a side. It’s an extremely rare event that I will throw food out, these hit the trash can. They were spongy (Nothing like sausage consistency at all), wet and Completely flavorless. It literally felt like chewing on a sponge. Pretty disappointing as this was the item I was most looking forward to. The collard greens were also extremely bland and wet.
Read moreSome other observations were that the staff seem like they wanted to be anywhere but there. I wouldn’t say they were rude per se, just distant. Also 580 being above the outside eating area didn’t make for the most pleasant or quiet eating experience.
In summary, would I go back? Absolutely, positively, 100% for the chicken. But probably not for much else.
Pros: Amazing chicken, Price is not horrible for the bay area
Cons: Links and collard greens not at all good, Staff had the personality of a wet washcloth.

Best Vegan BBQ In Oakland - Edit
I ordered the Small Mob Plate ($20 from delivery) with smoked soy-brisket, candied yams, collared greens, and their mac n cheese. It also comes with a slice of white bread and their house made bbq sauce for kicks.
Read moreThe brisket here is probably some of the best vegan brisket I've had anywhere. Normally vegan bbq joints rely on jackfruit to produce a meaty-texture, but their usage of soy here was great. The bbq sauce was sweet and tangy and you really get the flavors from this dish.
The collared greens and mac n cheese were definitely saltier than I'd like, so I'd probably stick with candied yams instead, which were delightful.
Pros: Great vegan briskets, Sides are wonderful

Yes, this place is very expensive. But there are so many choices! Fried chicken was a little disappointing (just a big chunk) but the rib tips were crispy and tasty. The sauce was also spicy and delicious! Baked beans were amazing!!

Hella good - Edit
This place is expensive but the food is hella good. I had the shrimp Po’ boy and the cheeseburger egg rolls, both were delicious but the sandwich had a sweet slaw with cherries in it- wasn’t feeling that. Cheeseburger rolls were also really small and only came with 4 rolls.

Wouldn’t recommend - Edit
Ordered two combo plates the only edible things were the fried chikn, beans and potato salad. Mac n cheese didn’t taste like anything. Drumsticks are just the Kings brand so nothing special. Rib tips inedible and the brisket I couldn’t even swallow due to taste and texture. Wanted to like everything but it was really disappointing.

Disappointed - Edit
I want to be into this place so bad. The energy and menu seem really good, but unfortunately I've been disappointed both times I've been. The people working the windows seem to be trying their best, but it's extremely chaotic and both times has taken me 2 hours to get my food. They forgot to give me a ticket this last time, forgot my order, and gave me the wrong thing. They also ran out of utensils so you couldn't eat on-site even after sitting there for so long. There's a guy outside playing music extremely loudly so it's really hard to hear your number called out the window - maybe a mic or a texting system would work? The food I've tried has been a mixed bag. I really like the fried chicken and the brisket on the loaded nachos. The candied yams are incredibly sweet and kind of ruin the mob roll for me. I also think the mac and cheese does not have the flavor or texture. Idk if I can go back here to justify the price and wait times😡
