Original Mexican Vegan Option in Santa Barbara - Soon to be gone. - Edit
I had planned on reviewing this restaurant pre-lockdown, but did not do so.
Read moreA lot of the other reviews are correct - it is decent Mexican food at a good (for Santa Barbara) price.
Unfortunately, after the lockdown they no longer had my favorite option - the Jackfruit Barbacoa (which I mentioned in my review of Rascals, the new vegan Mexican option in Santa Barbara). They are still worth it, but this is their LAST WEEK - their last day open is Friday, 8/27/21. I will miss them.
If you want to try them during their last week, they have weekday specials:
Monday - Free 12 ounce Limeade with order.
Tuesday - Taco Tuesday - $2.22 Tacos (regular price 3/$10)
Wednesday - Free Guacamole add on to your order
Thursday - Buy one Drink, get one free
Friday - Free side of Queso with your order
I plan on going after work today.

Really Authentic and perfect for omnivores - Edit
A bright spot for all kinds of foodies. Vegan GreenGo sits right next to (literally) a well established local chain of Mexican fast food restaurants and this place really measures up.
Read moreNot only do they serve 100% vegan cuisine, the flavors, spices, textures all rival the best of “classic” Mexican food.
I love the Carne Asada burrito with roasted potatoes and pico de Gallo. The “chicken” alternative is amazing and if someone handed me a burrito or taco from this place and the place next door, it would be hard to tell the difference.
Reasonably priced and friendly staff. Go Vegan GreenGo!!!
Pros: Amazing meat analogs , Everything is fresh, Choices of starches and proteins.

Gigantic portions - Edit
This is a great Chipotle/Subway style vegan Mexican inspired spot. The portions are gigantic, no matter what you order. The “queso” is the type that is made from potatoes/carrots. The nachos were pretty good. The “protein” was really delicious; I ordered the chicken. I topped it with the cashew chipotle salsa, which is a must. A healthy portion of guacamole is included, which is refreshing. I would also recommend the Turmeric Lemonade! I would order again, but definitely just go with the tacos and I would like to try the horchata.

Cons: The queso isn’t my favorite

Not Gringo at all - Edit
Super spicy. The least spicy choice is still extremely spicy for gringos.
Read moreEven the side of potatoes and peppers is barely tolerable. I like the play‐on name.
Pre-made fried food then assembled per order. Daily specials. I.e. free guacamole on Wednesday.

Tons of good food! - Edit
Friendly server walked me through everything as a first timer. I got a bowl that cost $12, I think. It seriously made three solid meals for me and I eat a fair amount! It was just as good the second day. Everything was fresh and well seasoned. If I lived close by, I'd go often.

Vegan And Delicious - Edit
The vegan food and choices are plentiful. Love the concept and the variety of vegan meats and the generous portions of guacamole. Had the vegan jackfruit barbacoa burrito and overall it was delicious, although a bit on the salty side. The rice has a spicy kick and full of flavor which I appreciate. The tacos were bomb and full of flavor! Go check it out it’s worth a visit.

yummy but a bit pricy - Edit
really good food, i've ordered the vegan nachos a few times. my only complaint is that the potatoes are sometimes a bit less flavorful or less fully cooked than i'd like, and i think nachos should come with a bit more queso given the price. however, it's a really solid and filling vegan option in SB, and overall worth going to since there aren't many other fully vegan restaurants. their chipotle crema is to die for too!

Great Food. - Edit
Vegan GreenGo has really delicious burritos and is a great place to go if you want vegan food in a hurry. All the food was fresh and very good. I will definitely be going back. The only thing I think they can work on is having a bit more friendly customer service.

Decent Vegan Mexican Food - Edit
The restaurant is small, it’s basically a fast food vegan place. Prices are a bit expensive for what you get. The employee that was helping me was not friendly at all. Not sure I will return.

Good food, and large portions! - Edit
I tend to eat a lot, and this place has options for huge serving sizes, which is great. There is perhaps no better calorie per dollar ratio for vegans dining out in Santa Barbara!

Lucky they were next door to hotel - Edit
I was traveling back North and did a layover in Santa Barbara. Happy Core search pooped up right next door. I had a carne asada burrito with just the stand sides of onions and green bell peppers, rice, black beans, pico, cilantro, raw onion and the medium green salsa. It had a bit of a bite but not very hot.
Read moreI was super hungry and this hot the spot. Good sized burrito and a decent price value though not vegan can always find theirs cheaper.
Lucky find
Pros: Efficient Chipotle model of operation
Cons: The burrito wrap was a bit dry and thick bottom

Good vegan authentic mexican food - Edit
When traveling it is hard to find good plant based foods. We discovered Vegan GreenGo on Happy Cow and decided to give it a try. And glad we did. This is so far the most “authentic” tasting mexican food we have had since going vegan 2 years ago. Its a small store front but trendy and clean inside. You build your own burritos/tacos/nachos/ or bowls. Various types of plant based mexican proteins/meats. Great mexican sauces and fresh jalapeños. They have daily specials, and August 2019, it was Free guac Wednesday. So yay for free guac on Wednesdays. . Wish they had one of these close to us in the OC.

Yum - Edit
Very tasty and big burritos. They cook with a lot of oil so if you are trying to eat WFPB SOS free it is a little tougher. The black beans have no oil.😄My husband who isn’t as strict as I am loved it.

Burrito Heaven - Edit
Good Mexican Food . It is chipotle style but for Vegans.! The jack fruit & faux meats were a bit spicy for my taste, so I went with beans , rice , spinach , guacamole & a mild salsa . It was good & the burritos are huge ; enough for 2 meals or if you’re really hunger you could eat it all on 1.

Similar to a Vegan Chipotle! - Edit
We got the Nachos and Tacos. The nachos came in a large portion but were pricy at $15. Nice option for an all vegan restaurant but too pricey for what it is in my opinion. It reminded us of a vegan chipotle but with a few added dollars. That being said though the taste was great and I would definitely come back again.

Mexican Plant Based All Vegan - Edit
I love Mexican food and have been reading about the health benefits of eating plant based foods. Order plant based “meats” and carbs and veggies to make your own tacos, burritos, nachos or bowls. The flavors and textures of the “meats” were excellent. Their Kombucha’s, Lemonades and Horchata rock. Fresh and healthy. Large portions. Enjoy!

An All Vegan Chipotle - Edit
This is just like vegan Chipotle where you choose your style - taco, burrito, bowl, or nachos and then pick your protein and toppings. They have mock babarcoa, chorizo, chicken, and carne asada.
Read moreWe got the trio tacos with chorizo, chicken and Carne asada topped with grilled veggies, chopped spinach and corn salsa. All three were good but a little salty. We also got a burrito with potatoes, refried beans, grilled veggies, pick de Gallo and corn salsa. It was super tasty and filing.
We came in on a Monday which is their free kombucha day. We got the pineapple and the mango which were really good.
Pros: Check their sign for the free special of the day, Quick service
Cons: Wish they had more fresh veggie options

The best vegan burrito anywhere, made to order. - Edit
I love the selection of protein here- do many choices! Seitan, tofu, jackfruit, all prepared different ways so you can try Carne Asada (my favorite so far, but I haven’t tried them all yet), Barbacoa, etc. And everything is 100% vegan! How cool is that? Love this place!
