I worked in VegaKucko full-time for 5 and a half months. During this time, I observed the following. - Edit
I wanted to work in a place where people think similarly to me. Although my experience in hospitality was negligible and I hadn’t studied this profession, I still applied to VegaKuckó. I worked there full-time for 5 and a half months. During this time, I observed the following. Several-day-old (up to 4 days) dishes had to be sold as fresh, and we had to say that the dishes were constantly being made. There were times when expired pastries had to be defrosted and sold. The mashed potatoes with onions served with the vegan schnitzel, were made from potato flakes kept in a large bucket in the kitchen. The chef told guests that the cream soups were made with rice or coconut milk, and oat cream. In fact, during the 5.5 months, cream soups were never made with rice, coconut milk, or oat cream. They used dairy-based cooking cream with low lactose content. They even lied to a regular customer about the mayonnaise potato salad, saying it was made with whipped oat milk. Pancake creams were also made with dairy-based cooking cream. The hazelnut cream was a cheap, whey powder-based product, which I pointed out to the owner was not vegan. In response, he removed the label from the plastic container and said, “Now it’s vegan.” The only time there was yogurt made from cow's milk in the fridge was when they made “vegan” tzatziki. And there are many more things I haven't mentioned! My heart broke when the owner-chef lied to both vegan and non-vegan customers about the ingredients, who trusted him. The owner-chef is not even vegetarian; he spends vegans’ money on animal-derived foods and products. If someone asked me what I thought of the owner-chef after the 5.5 months, I would say he is a shameless, lying fraud. And what guarantee is there that he will prepare vegan dishes? In response, I quote from the posts of the owner-chef, Csaba Gagna, on the VegaKuckó page: “I would like to emphasize that we are a vegetarian eatery and not vegan! The possibility of cross-contamination is minimal, but we cannot guarantee 100% freedom from it.” … And now he can tell guests without consequence that the dishes are made from vegan ingredients even if they are not because legally, there is currently no clear and mandatory regulation for the vegan label. And he takes advantage of this situation.

Bland and a little disorganized - Edit
The staff were really nice but seemed disorganized. We ordered a pasta/cabbage dish and a lasagna of sorts. They were okay but very bland and even though they were “warmed up” neither dish was actually served warm. Perhaps it was the time of day, we arrived late in the afternoon.

Very inexpensive 🤑 - Edit
It's a nice nice little restaurant with buffet style food selection and a couple of vegan options. I had a beetroot soup and a quinoa/spuash stew and paid around 7€ for it. The soup was very good, the stew was a little salty but still tasty. The staff was also friendly and helpful. 👌

Vegakuckó - Edit
Elég gyakran járok ide, mindig kedvesen fogadnak. A napi menü mellett egyéb ételek is elérhetőek, vegán süti kínálatuk is nagyon guszta.

Inconsistent food - Edit
I've ordered from VegaKuckó over 100 times. And I would usually get the pancakes. 90% of the time, they tasted great. But 10% of the time they would serve me pancakes that had been sitting out way too long and were about to turn bad or were already bad. I complained about it on the Wolt app and just because I gave them a bad (yet honest) review they refuse to serve me. Pretty lame.

Nicest place for quick lunchtime courses - Edit
Tiny little place with overwhelmingly friendly service by the owners and delicious meals. All the daily options are vegan and gluten-free (except sometimes you can have some hardboiled eggs as an option) as well as most of the cakes and sweets as well. A few different soups, main courses and pancakes available every day for quite reasonable pricing. Hungarian craft beer is also served.
