Tasty mac-nut veggie korma - Edit
Had the veggie korma that came with a sort of fried rice that was all very tasty. Pretty quick and the place seemed to do a good deal of take out.
Read moreIt's actually in the other side of the large building from where the Happy Core location shows. Turn into the parking lot next to the sushi place and it's the last spot on the left.
Pros: Variety of choices, Open later than 5:30!, Tasty curry

A good selection of sandwiches and wraps. Quick and satisfying dinner. Unfortunately they use disposable packaging instead of reusable dishes.

Yikes - Edit
This place is rough. I ordered the burrito and got, for lack of better words, the whitest Mexican food I've ever had in my life. The owner upsold MAYONNAISE with the burrito for Pete's sake. Everything inside of it was practically unseasoned, it had no flavor other than the salsa I dipped it into. I also got some baked tofu which was dusted overpoweringly with nooch and had an unsatisfying starchy coating with gross little burnt pieces. That was mediocre, at least (better than the burrito). My partner got a pad thai which had zero spice or savoriness, and just sat in a sad tangy sweet sauce. If I hadn't been hungry when I ordered, it would have been totally abysmal. I think this place is trying to do the "health food" thing that permeates a ton of Hawaiian plant-based cuisine, but fails miserably. Points for being mostly plant-based, but this was the worst restaurant we went to on Maui out of many.

This was my very first time at Veg Out. I ordered falafala and it was very disturbing.. - Edit
TOTALLY Unprofessional place, Bad service, inappropriate mean behavior from the owner who was a MonsterBitch to me. I was willing to put up with almost anything:) for my falafala wrap until yesterday when the owner was acting violent saying I was crossing over (whose) boundaries? The owner was crossing over my boundaries, in almost attached me because I was offering her some of my really great homemade cookies that I make to share as thanks for her coming in to make the falafala, so my husband and me could have a nice dinner. What mixed up, horrible situation for me to be in.. I am a maui resident and I have integrity and care about others. This was the first time that i went to the Veg-out and OMG.. forget it, I will never go in there again. That was a very unpleasant situation and more upsetting then I can even say.. I went to the India food truck across the way.. much nicer, kinder, better food, more caring people that appreciate I am spending good money with them thank-you ♥

Sweet vegan options in Hana - Edit
I was looking for a place with more vegan options & some guy told me about this place. Couldn’t search it on Happy Cow & when I did it said closed on here when it wasn’t. This is a great option if you are vegan! I got the falafel wrap & the pad Thai & they didn’t disappoint.

Decent veg food - Edit
Everything without cheese of dairy is vegan. It is a tiny whole in the wall with a staff of two, but they are very friendly and welcoming. I had the pad Thai and my friend had the falafel wrap. It was not great pad Thai, but it was ok. We also shared a salad and the chocolate cake. Both were decent. I wouldn’t say the food is amazing, but there are a lot of vegan options and I like supporting an all veg restaurant.

Good Veg Options - Edit
Veg Out is in a small strip mall with a very basic interior. So I guess what I’m trying to say is don’t expect anything fancy. You order at the counter and your food is served to you on paper plates. As far as the food goes I thought my burrito was good but nothing that I couldn’t make myself at home. My husband got the beyond steak sandwich and seemed to enjoy it. They have a small variety of vegan cake slices and cookies for dessert. Overall, if you’re in the area and not looking for anything fancy this is a solid veg option!

vegetarian place. nothing special - Edit
Pizzas, burritos, veggie burgers and a so-so yellow curry. They used to have vegan cheese, apparently it’s too expensive. Their one vegan pizza is a pile of veggies covered in far too much nutritional yeast. With some extra sauce it was palatable. My favorite item was their sweet potato soup.

Pile on that Nooch! - Edit
Visited February 2018 on our way to Twin Falls. My husband and I split a small pizza and a seitan sub sandwich which were both very good and had a generous topping of nutritional yeast (love it!). Only 2-3 options which could not be made vegan, but we still had a lot of options to choose from. Stopped by again on the way home for a slice of chocolate cake. Yum!

What a find! - Edit
WOW, what a find! We drove about 45 minutes from south Maui to eat at this gem and are so happy we did.
Read moreWe ordered a HOT ITALIAN SANDWICH and a MUFFALATA SANDWICH and both were spectacular! So flavorful and different from the normal veggie choices in most places.
The vegan chocolate cake was amazing----so rich and freshly baked.
The chefs and people behind the counter were so warm and friendly.
We are so glad that they'll be opening another Veg Out in Kihei (southern Maui).

Delicious! - Edit
My step-father and I are visiting here, and he wanted to try a vegetarian/vegan restaurant since he's an omnivore. Great choice! Pleasant customer service, good prices, and the restaurant was nice. I got the falafel and he got the vegetarian lasagna. The food was delicious, fresh, and generously portioned out. Highly recommend!

Great Pizza and Phad Thai - Edit
This is my favorite place to eat in Maui (used to love Fresh Mint also but that's gone now sigh). The Freedom Vegan Pizza is awesome. The Phad Thai is really, really good. You get a lot of the price so taking leftovers back to the condo is a treat. Can't wait to go back.

Ample, filling, hearty, delicious - Edit
While visiting Maui we met a friend at Veg-Out who recommended it for its vegan options and quality. We ordered the burrito that had everything in it and made it vegan, as well as the Italian sub that had seitan and tomato sauce. Both were huge, delicious, and easily ordered. Although Veg-Out was out of our way, we made sure to return for takeout on our trip because the food was so good. The Taro burger was also ample and delicious-and Maui-made, and the vegan chocolate cake was huge, decadent, and satisfying. All of our meals stretched out beyond to leftovers. Ordering vegan was so easy, and asking for ingredient listings seemed common.

Wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised - Edit
After reading the reviews on here I didn't expect much and haven't even added this place to my list of places to check out. I totally forgot it existed. When I was out and about one day in Haiku heading over the Maui Kombucha, I noticed the sign saying vegetarian. I was curious so I went here and tried it out. I took forever deciding what I wanted because the menu is so different from one item to the next. I wound up settling on the taro burger. It took about 15 mins to come out. It was in a to-go container which I thought was weird because the place had tables and was inside. I sat there and enjoyed my food. I was surprised by my burger. It was quite good. It wasn't like a traditional burger and the patty was a little softer because it would made out of root veggies but it was a nice change. The burger was decently priced ($6) but didn't come with a side which was ok for that day. They also had curry and pineapple cake but I was so full from all the other food I had already eaten that day that I didn't get a chance to try them. I'd probably check this place out again.

Not Impressed - Edit
My husband & I visited Veg Out on our last day on Maui. I had higher hopes for Veg Out. I had the falafel and my husband had the italian sandwich. The falafel was dry and tasted like what we have made at home from a boxed mix, I ended up having indigestion the remainder of the day and the flight home. My husband said he liked his sandwich but he thought it could be better. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back to Veg Out if we’re on Maui in the future.

Haiku's Old Standby - Edit
I live in Haiku, so of course it is great to have a vegetarian restaurant so close. It is a casual place with lots of choices - Mexican, pizza, Thai, etc. They also have salads and smoothies. The prices are very reasonable and the people who work there are very friendly. Try it out!

Maybe my tastes have changed, and I look for healthier food. I've been going here for years as a standby when we don't want to cook at home, however after every single time I eat here, I wake up so parched and thirsty that I know they must put way too much salt in the dishes. This only happens on nights after I eat here, so I know that is the cause. Needless to say, I don't eat here very often anymore. I am well aware that other restaurants are probably just as salty, not just Veg-out.

not very good hippie food - Edit
We got a lot of food after an active day, nothing was very good. The chips and other food are sourced from Costco, fwiw. We split a pizza and salad for apps, neither of which came before our entrees, so we wished we hadn't gotten them. The pizza was not very good, the crust was soggy and let the toppings fall right off. The salad was the same as the wrap my date had, minus the wrap. The tofu on the salad had zero flavor. The salad was a weak point. The wrap was reported to me to be good, but qualified as hard to mess up bean and rice in a wrap. My seitan samich was not good, baked w tomato sauce. First, when squeezed to bite all the oil, which was a lot, emerged to the top. It was so much that the bread could not tolerate it and it disintegrated and fell apart. It was very oily. The flavor was just alright nothing special but it was hot in an area that is not bubbling over w veg food. I think if you thought about what was hard to mess up and ordered that it may be ok.
