We were happy to choose this place on our first day as it was awesome. We ate there three times as our only meal of the day other than hotel breakfast. it was all we needed to sustain us even after activities and had different food each day. The starters had a couple of unique treats and the savoury bowls tasty and filling. Lots of choice friendly staff tasty cookies and smoothies too. Good wholesome tasty food

If you are looking for high protein meals this is not a good option. For desserts and very veggie meals could work. Waiter also seems lacking information about what they are selling.

On a adoré ! On a pris leur plateau de dips accompagné de leur banane plantain garni à la sauce fromagère. Leur houmous et leur banane sont délicieux ! En plat, nous avons dégusté le bowl océan qui était très bon et très complet (avec ce houmous, c'était joué d'avance) et les pâtes curry lait de coco. Ce dernier est délicieux ! Cependant, il est bien épicé, vous êtes prévenus !

This food is extremely delicious. It’s the third time that I try something and it’s all been perfect. Finally some fresh and crispy veggies after so much rice and beans and bananas. You can get the food to go as well. You can’t sit it in the sun but you probably shouldn’t at lunch time anyway. Gracias to the team and Pura vida!

Stopped here during our visit to Manuel Antonio. The location is not fancy, but the food was delicious. My favorite was the pad Thai, and pesto bowl. The plantain was very flavorful with a little kick. Wish we had time to visit again!

Perfect spot, filling healthy food - Edit
This was exactly what we needed after a long day hiking around the Manuel Antonio national park. The portions are huge and filling and feel healthy and wholesome. The guacamole appetizer is also incredible. For the main course I got the hummus salad "Ocean" and husband got the gallo pinto dish. Also highly recommend finishing dinner with nice cream. It's super delicious. The staff is such an awesome bunch. We are returning very soon to try more of the menu.

The portions are very generous. We shared 2 dishes between 3 people and it was perfect. The zoodles were fantastic, spicy and creamy and the tico bowl was delicious aswell. The restaurant is very cozy and the staff so nice. The have lemonades made with coconut water (pipa), very interesting and good.

My husband and I ate here while staying at the Los Altos, it was right across the street! Very convenient! The staff was super friendly and the food came out really fast. We got the plantain and the Varuna bowl and the Pad Thai to share. The plantain was not cut up and was cold, was not expecting that! The Varuna bowl was very filling and huge. The Pad Thai was fresh and delicious but i probably would not have been full just eating that as it is just veggies. With some tofu, it would be perfect. Or if I wanted a light fresh meal. I wish I would have had room for dessert, but we were pretty full sharing both those bowls. Price is very reasonable, especially for the Varuna bowl.

1. We were four people during lunch time with zero other costumers around and we had to wait for almost an hour for our food.

2. The main dish arrived before the starters and also not at the same time with each other, which is super weird regarding that there were NO OTHER customers and I counted 4 staff members / chef / waitress.
3. The food itself looked good but none of the four main dishes were really tasty… it was quite bland. My wife’s dish was in part bland and in part too salty.
4. I ordered another juice cause it was quite hot and we had to wait FOR SO LONG already and the juice took also like 15 minutes.
5. We saw the staff chatting and doing everything else but taking care of our food. I don’t get this customer service.
Pros: 100% vegan , That’s it.
Cons: Waiting time way too long., Bland dishes.

Initially we were a bit hesitant to visit this place, thinking that it only has some boring salads, cold bowls and some juices/smoothies. But we were blown away the very first time we tried their food. They have amazing warm bowls, which made us go back again and again and again to try all the varieties, lol. Their love and passion clearly shows in their food and friendly behavior. In general we found the food in Costa Rica tasted way better than what we typically experience in the US, but Varuna is at a different level altogether, we felt so blessed 😇

Worth a repeat visit - Edit
We came here 2 days in a row. Both days were great. We got juices, an appetizer and 2 entrees on the first visit. Everything was excellent. Good taste, healthy and not heavy. The coconut curry being the highlight. My photos show what we got today. Highly recommended to any vegans in this general area. This is straight up very good, not just good for the area - if we lived near here we would visit regularly!
