Good choice - Edit
We had the Hana ramen and gyoza and thoroughly enjoyed both. You are given some spices and can add different taste if you like as there is an English discription of how they flavour your food.. staff were lovely and friendly and nice service. You can’t book so advisable to go during the day when it is less busy.

Delicious creamy ramen - Edit
The ramen was creamy and delicious (my partner did not like it but he does not like creamy food. If you don't like creamy food probably don't come here). It was really interesting as an alium free menu. We didn't need to wait but there was a long line as we were leaving!

Good food, long wait - Edit
Waited about an hour to get in for dinner, very tiny restaurant. The food overall was good, but I would have liked more options.

Yum! - Edit
We had a wonderful lunch here today! We had a 'Hana', a 'Gekka', the croquettes and the soy cheese on brown rice, which we ate as recommended (stirred in after the noodles etc are eaten). A cocktail each as well. Everything was really nice. They forgot about the cheese/ rice dish so that came out a little hurried I think, but overall a great lunch in a lovely vegan restaurant. Definitely recommended!!

Definitely worth it 🙏🏻💚

Good ramen - Edit
The place seems to be very popular so we had to queue for a while. But it was worth it. The ramen were delicious and creamy and the side dishes were lovely. The only issue is that we struggled to find it as it is a bit tucked away in a weird garage looking place. The restaurant itself looks lovely inside tho. The staff was really friendly and polite. The cook came to personally apologise after we reported an undercooked side dish. Overall, great experience.

… but could be more flavorful. The toppings are great! Many different and surprising additions. Clearly marked menu and super friendly staff. The broth where a bit bland though to my taste.

I wish tipping was a thing in Japan because the lady who served us was there by herself that day. Almost full house and she was cooking, taking orders and serving tables, and of course at the counter.

Out of this world - Edit
Ok, the food here was absolutely amazing. I’m amazed they can get so many flavours and textures into one bowl of ramen! I’m not sure I can describe the flavours, but the broth was both somehow light and creamy and the noodles were soft but chewy. I had the hana ramen option and was excited they had spices on the side to add, but didn’t end up using them as the ramen was already perfectly flavoured. We also shared the dumplings and they did not disappoint.

Creamy ramen - Edit
The ramen broth was so good and loaded with toppings. I'm not usually a huge noodle fan, but these ones just tasted so nice in the broth, and everything had a nice texture.
Read moreWe also tried the dumplings, which I wasn't crazy about, but to be fair, they came after the ramen, so it was a tough act to follow and I was already very full from the soup.
I'm not sure what happened, but on the day we went, they closed for about an hour between 5 and 6. I think they ran out out of something in the kitchen and had to prepare for the dinner rush. When we came back at about 5:50, there were already people queuing up. There are 14 seats in the restaurant, and these were filled instantly, with more people queuing up behind us - all foreigners might I add! I suppose this is the balance of being a vegan tourist in Japan; establishments such as this seem to exist for visitors, and not so much catering to the locals. So if "your thing" while travelling is to hob knob with the locals, you might be dissapointed here (but trust me, you won't be dissapointed by the food)

Best Ramen Ever!!! - Edit
What an incredible find in Kyoto. Vegan and Gluten free ramen at a very reasonable price. Such a fantastic variety of flavors in a creamy sauce. A very filling and hearty meal. Try the spices as they add to an already incredible dish. Also the King Edamame is fresh and buttery.

Simple, straight forward veggie Ramen place, they had 3 choices, great portion size, good flavors, clean simple atmosphere, easy to find, english menu, friendly staff, they made it super easy.
Read moreWhen I'm in a new city I like to try as many different veggie places as I can find. We ended up having a second dinner here because it was so accessible and easy (and we enjoyed our meals). It's a tourist filled place, seats about 12 or so, slurp or don't slurp, be clumsy with your chopsticks, nobody cares. Enjoy your meal as you like.

Vegan ramen - Edit
We had the soy milk vegan ramen and I followed the recommendation to have it with the brown rice and fermented cheese. Adding this after eating the noodles to the remaining soy milk broth. The bowl was big enough to fill me and the additional small bowl with rice not too much. I liked this combination! The fermented cheese was very good. We had to wait outside for about 10 minutes, until a table was free for us. They have 4 tables for two each and a long counter for about 8 people.

Down the Middle, 2.5 Stars - Edit
This place was really close to my hotel, so I checked it out. Maybe it was that night, but the noodles were slightly undercooked (and all bunched together). The dumplings were a waste of 1000yen. You get four small dumplings that clearly have some sort of premade soy meat middle and then the "dumpling" part was really horribly executed. Just fell apart and not cooked nicely. I tried to ask if they made the soy in house, made the dumplings fresh, etc. but language was limited. The dumplings in the ramen were far superior...
Read moreIt was very busy. There is hilarious hardcore EDM music going on which really doesn't fit the atmosphere!!
The choco brulee was half decent, a bit burned up (but that may be the Japanese style, as a vegan brulee I got in Tokyo was also overly burned in my opinion).
I think your best bet is the ramen and the 400yen rice extra.
Pros: Ramen not too bad!, Fun atmosphere, a bit comical
Cons: Avoid the dumplings!

Delicious ramen, quite an experience with different flavours, not your average ramen. Nice location. I recommend adding the fermented rice to the ramen, to be added to the broth once the noodles are finished, I liked that even more than the ramen itself!!
