My fiancé and I shared the Buffalo Chik’n Nachos which were great, but the desserts were out of this world good. Prices were also incredibly fair and staff was nice and welcoming. We will be back for sure!

holy (happy) cow... the food here is just wonderful. service was excellent. i love the vibe of the place. what a gem to find on our road trip! i got the queso taco and it was basically a cheesy gordita crunch from taco bell but way better!!!! (i used to get them all the time before i went vegan so i was very excited). my partner got the hawaiian burger and it was so savory, sweet, and had a kick to it! the mac and cheese is to die for!!! i wanted to drink the cheese after i was done.

I was in Wilkes-Barre last month for the weekend and I went to this restaurant. I walked in and the welcome we received from the owners was like a warm embrace. I ordered the special for the day, the Delizioso Burger and it was one of the best burgers I have ever had!!! I also ordered the macaroni and cheese and it was phenomenal! We also ordered the meatball sub and potato salad and they both were fresh and tasted amazing!! The food was so good, I ate there all three days that we were in Wilkes-Barre!! All of their food was fresh and made to order. The young lady who also owns the restaurant makes fresh bakery items and the brownie she brought us was so good! She was just the nicest lady ever!! What I value the most about my experience was that the food was absolutely made with love. Hearing the chef talking about his creations and even having him just make whatever he felt works during one of my visits, just showed me how much they value making good food. He explained to me what he put together and why! I haven’t found many places that give such love to their food! This is rare! As I have traveled and eaten vegan food in many places, this establishment for sure, ranks in the top 3 of my favorite vegan restaurants!!! If you are in the area and want some amazing comfort food, made with love from some amazing beings...please, try this! You won’t be disappointed!! Can’t wait to go back on my next weekend visit and eat there everyday!!

This is such a important place to have in this area. Most entirely vegan places have crazy expensive prices and when I went inside for the first time and looked at the menu I was so impressed with the prices and the portion of the burger/sides that I got. When my mom and I go to other local places we spend $50 and we get hungry after 2-3 hrs. When we went to Umami Gorilla, we spent $50 and both got huge burgers, split a large Mac & cheese, had two potato salads, got a side of pasta salad and each had a large take away container of desserts that we ate off of for the next 3 days.

I work near Umami Gorilla and frequently stop in for lunch. They are always so friendly and the food is DELICIOUS. Love the atmosphere inside of the grab-n-go deli as well. I usually call ahead and it’s ready by the time I get there. If you do not call ahead you may wait.

I haven’t tried all of the bakery items, but the peanut butter brownie is scrumptious. Also their milkshakes are delicious and they have a discount if you bring in your own containers. My family and I are very happy that we found Umami Gorilla! We found out about this gem from Happy Cow. I have a family of 8. This includes 6 children. My husband is vegan. I am mostly vegetarian. The kids eat meat. Everyone in the family loves this food! It truelly is comfort food. I never leave hungry! My meat eating kids love the food too! Thank you Umami Gorilla!

I was first introduced to their amazing food when they catered my wedding. My husband and I are vegan, but none of our friends or family are. We had a little over 100 guests and they were blown away when we announced everything they were eating was vegan. Some of our guests are still in disbelief that what they ate wasn’t really a steak fajita, chicken buffalo wrap, or salmon lox crostini’s. The owners were complete professionals from start to finish. We could not have asked for better service or food. Now we visit their store front as often as we can because they literally have the best vegan food!

Lovely staff talked me through menu and are obviously passionate about their food. The panini was to die for, including pepperoni and bacon cheese with a chipotle sauce. Mac & cheese was creamy, but not very flavorful. German chocolate brownie was amazing, the first vegan brownie I ever ate. Wish I lived closer; prices were reasonable and there was lots more I wanted to try.

It is so hard to find good vegan food around here, and these folks have some of the BEST vegan food i've ever had! I got the Umami cheesesteak with candied jalapeños, a side of mac and cheese, and a puff pastry. Not only was everything delicious, it was only $11! And the portions are big as well! If you're ever in the area, do yourself a favor and stop in I promise you it will be worth it!

I made an account just to review this place! We were so happy to find Umami Gorilla while visiting the area for the weekend. The owners, Kyle and his mom, were so friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in. We got the chili, steak fajita tacos, potato salad, and a cinnamon roll. We loved their signature pickle so much they gave us another. Everything was AMAZING, and there was such a sense of care and expertise in each dish. We're going back today just a few hours after our first visit because it's just that good! We will definitely be making the 2+ hour trip from Philly to go back! If you're looking for some downright delicious comfort food, you have to check this place out!

I am so glad I found them! The owners/staff were beyond welcoming and friendly. They walked me through the entire menu, gave me samples of their (amazing, house-made) vegan meats and cheeses, and even showed me one of their recipes when I asked about the ingredients. I ordered stuffed shells, a panini, and dessert - which were all absolutely incredible! 100% of their tips are donated to an NEPA Youth Shelter to help homeless teens in the area. I am so impressed with the service, food, and overall mission of this restaurant. I’ll definitely be going back!

This was a great place to stop for some amazing vegan comfort food. I’m not going to lie Wilkes Barre is a little depressing. Visiting from Raleigh, this was the highlight of my weekend. I ordered a Swiss mushroom burger with potato salad. My boyfriend ordered loaded nachos, and a sticky bun for a sweet treat. His non vegan son devoured a grilled cheese and Mac n’ cheese. The owners are passionate about the food they make and were wonderful to talk to. They just opened about a month ago so I wish them the best of luck!
