Best fried chicken I’ve ever had - Edit
Sorry to hear they closed. This was where we ate before I proposed to my partner at hickory run state park last September. We both had their kfc bowl. Was fantastic. Hope to see them in the future.

I’ve been vegan for 8 years and this is my all time favorite vegan restaurant. I was even lucky enough to work for them at one point and good god everything they make is pure serotonin. If there is such a thing as vegan gods they are some of them. Order their serene bean chili (named after me because it’s my fav side) or coleslaw, their ice creams are all incredible, their nachos are to die for, basically anything you eat from them is going to leave you fat and happy.

While the inside is not impressive, limited air conditioning and cleanliness could use a boost, the food was excellent! There were so many choices. We have burgers, nachos and a chocolate shake. He doesn’t skimp on flavor or serving..cone out and enjoy!

The chef/owner went to culinary school and makes everything from scratch, even his breading and cheese shreds. Who would have expected such a gem in rust-belt PA? We drove a long way to visit and were so glad we did. We also took home some dehydrated meals and would have bought his homemade soy curls too. We were starving when we got there and were completely stuffed due to the huge savory portions. We had the KFC bowl (since I can make a mess with sandwiches lol), the cheese sticks, and cole slaw -- this was more than 2 hungry people could finish. The prices were very reasonable, and yet we spent enough for a free meal next time.

I cannot imagine how hard it is to run a restaurant in these times, let alone an ethical all-plant one. You really have to be smart and talented. It was very enjoyable talking to all of the staff there about many topics. Wish this was closer to us.

This family run place has such a great menu. Everything was delicious and came out hot and quick. Portions are also huge, especially for the prices! They even had a special going on that offered a free meal after spending $40! Super generous overall. Will definitely be back every time I’m in the area.

Man, oh man, where do I begin? First of all, let's just say that the prices here are very reasonable, especially given the high quality of the food. Which, by the way, the food here is unbelievable. My wife and I ordered a KFC bucket meal, bacon cheeseburger with fries, pistachio milkshake and a chocolate donut and ALL of it slapped. Literally top 10, possibly 5, best vegan food I've eaten. The service was good, too. The owners are super nice, eager to help and easy to talk to. This place is bonkers. Eat here!

Read moreThe website has an old menu so when we called to place our order they didn't have a few things. They offered to text us pics of the new menu. So great. Called back with our order and then picked it up.
Staff was so friendly and very hospitable. Think it was a family run business which is always very cool.
A lot can be made gf as its mostly soy curls.
I had two different taco orders. Tried the BBQ pulled pork and the Buffalo ranch.
Both were very generous portions and so so so tasty. Loved all the sauces they used to. Hot sauce was excellent - not too vonegary and not too spicy.
Highly recommend!

Jaw Dropping Vegan Food - Edit
I drive up from the Lehigh Valley at least once a year to load up on their food. I have never had a bad order from Umami. Everything, from the cheesesteaks to the desserts, is perfect. The KFC fried chicken meal deal is a revelation: an unbelievable feat of vegan engineering. The staff is warm and welcoming. Above everything, I appreciate the love of food. You can feel the passion through the constant trying, creating, and inventing of new menu items and specials.

Had the special today- a “brunch burger” with chik’n, greens, facon, caramelized onions and more. Holy heck it was amazing! Fries were super crispy too. Was messy and amazing. 10/10 will have to go back before I leave NEPA ❤️

I got a puff pastry and it was in the top 2, if not best vegan desert I have ever had. I was sounding like a crazy person as I walked down the street eating it going “omg!!”. Seriously. Go here! Great little vegan spot with all foods being house made! The milkshakes are amazingly delicious and huge! The chick'n was very flavourful, tender and juicy and the sauces were flavorful. Gender neutral bathroom! And can't wait to return!

We detoured here because everywhere else was closed or had limited vegan options. Glad we did! My partner and I each ordered a bean burger. He got The Kingdom and I ordered the one with mushrooms. HUGE burgers and came with full size sides. The value for your $$$ is great. We also ordered a pizza (equivalent of hot wing hoagie pizza) and calzone (mushroom and spinach) to go. While waiting we saw the ice cream menu and ordered 2 pints (toasted marshmallow and birthday cake - yum!) And remembering we had kids at home we ordered 1 of each of the desserts. All this food came to under $100. Plus we were given an IOU as they offer a free "KFC bucket" for orders over $40. But wait, there's more! We were given a punch card - every meal ordered gets you a punch - and we are now 4 punches deep!

Our 3 year old asked us when we left why the man was mad. Further, we left a 20% tip ($8) on our takeout order and no 'thank you' or acknowledgement. We received another "KFC bucket" IOU.

Got the KFC bowl and it was freaking amazing, perfect crispy chkn cutlet with tons of mash, corn and gravy. Plus it was enough for like 2-3 meals. Mac and cheese side was good. Super creamy and tasty, but not very "cheesy". I liked it though.

Ice creams are great, fried chicken has a lovely breading that goes great with their house gravy (also really good). Their renegade patties evoke a corned beef, and are massive. All the portions are massive.

Can’t say enough good things about this place. I had been in the area many times for work and never made the trip here. I finally decided to come in and couldn’t be more pleased with the results. Kyle and his mom are super friendly and have a nice quiet spot with really good food. Looks like the menu changes often (which I like) because I couldn’t find the menu online that I ordered from so my pics don’t match the actual item ordered (sorry about that). Come hungry because portion sizes are as they should be (not small). I found free street parking, no issue, both times I’ve been here.

Chick’n sandwich was very good, and sticky, which I also loved - it was finger licking (you know the rest). I came back and had the train wreck … also very good.
Burger was massive and had good flavor.
Carne asada wrap was delicious and so was the spicy buffalo sauce wrap (wouldn’t mind seeing a version of this with cauliflower).
Smokey Bac’n Mac & Cheze, Serene-Bean Chili, fries, and cold pasta salad where all great sides.
Leave room for dessert. Strawberry and cherry pastries were fantastic (ordered 1 the first day and 3 the next). Chocolate chip cookie and chocolate brownie Walter also very good.

Food and service was excellent. All of their seitan is made in house, very well seasoned, delicious food. Everyone there was very personable and made us feel so welcomed. We stayed long after we finished our food just talking to the staff.

The chick'n parm special blew our minds. Everything is made in-house from scratch including the patty, which was really impressive and delicious. I've been vegan for a while, and my friend isn't vegan, both of us were blown away. The Mac & cheese side was stellar.

Visited for the first time yesterday 8/4/22. Cozy atmosphere, mother/son duo cooking up some amazing food. We had the fries, The Honolucy sandwich, The Chicken Parm, butterscotch shake, and chocolate peanut butter shake. It was amazing!!!!!!! 20 out of 10!!!
