Outstanding Vegan Restaurant - Edit
Everything is 5-stars; the decor, the service and most importantly the food! Highly recommend gnocchi and carrot curry plus potted pudding for dessert though menu changes with the seasons.

Tasty food with trying-to-get-richer-off-me prices - Edit
The burger comes as two sliders and if you put them together it doesn’t even make a whole burger. Guess how much they charge anyway? $18! 🤦🏿♂️
Read moreOh yeah. And they serve lamb along with other slaughtered animals. So they’re not fully plant-based. Just another restaurant tryna rack up off of words like “vegan” and “plant-based”.

I think the “lamb” is not slaughtered animal lamb. It is imitation meat.

You’re right. I just called and confirmed. I was wrong. It’s imitation, not slaughtered.

We sat out on the patio on a beautiful sunny day. The service was top notch. By far the most creative and refreshing appetizer was the Clear Melon Gazpacho. It's not to be missed. The 'lamb' gyro with tater tots was delicious and perfectly spiced. They have a great wine and cocktail menu too.

Maitake and Mac & please could I have some more! - Edit
Was only able to order off the Bar Bites menu as the dining room was full/required reservations. There was still so much good to choose from. Even as I'm writing this review I'm glancing at the menu and wondering if I'll get more. This is a must stop if you're nearby.

Amazing! - Edit
Superb vegan cuisine. 5 Star vegan restaurants are very hard to find. The food is fresh, innovative and seasonal. The gazpacho was phenomenal and that was just our first dish. The craft cocktails were inventive. We sat outside and watched the sun go down. It was quiet and easy to visit with our friends who, although not vegan, loved every course. I highly recommend Twelvemonth!

Every month - Edit
I've been here several times and I always enjoy it. The space is magnificent and vast with lots of modern charm. The menu changes with the exception of a few permanent items. I love the bean stew don't mistake simple for bland. It's packed with flavor and the beans are from Fifth Crow farm iykyk so it's delicious. I wish the portion was a little bit bigger, haha. The dinner menu usually has multiple options I order and go family style even in a party of two. This is a great spot for date night, birthday parties, or any special occasion in Burlingame. Highly recommend.

Tasty but pricey - Edit
What a lovely spot to sit on the patio and sip a drink with vegan snacks. I really enjoyed the Mac and cheese and drinks. I was underwhelmed by the gyro, as I was expecting a Greek style pita stuffed with all the goodies but it was a lot thinner of bread and more of a wrap. Still good, but I wouldn’t call it a gyro.
Read moreThe Bagna Cauda was tasty but one piece of bread cut in to fourths just doesn’t do it for me, especially with an $18 price tag.

Upscale but Won’t Break the Bank - Edit
For my birthday this year, I got to try this wonderful higher end dining experience designed for the plant based eater in mind. It took me way more than twelve months into my vegan journey to get here but better late than never!
Read moreThe chic decor with both indoor and outdoor seating puts this spot on the map. Their fully plant based menu is exciting to see and I was excited to try some of their offerings.
Started with their Fried Maitake Mushrooms and the House Bread. The former were the clear standouts: crispy mushroom chips with a fantastic dipping sauce. The bread was good but didn't blow me away as I had hoped.
For our mains, we indulged in their Radish Cakes and Italian Dumplings. I enjoyed both of the dishes and their presentations but would definitely go back for the latter. The dumplings were simply divine and topped with edamame and a house cream added to its perfection.
My only suggestion would be for them to incorporate some more high protein options into the mix. The use of legumes, tempeh, seitan, etc could really up more of their dishes without losing its culinary integrity. Plus it would get people to eat their "where do vegans get their protein" tongues lol.
Thanks Twelve Month for a great experience!

Amazing Cuisine - Edit
We have only been here once. It is the best vegan food we have discovered since Shizen in San Francisco. We throughly enjoyed the tasting menu. So why not all stars? The front of house staff. Such a shame with such innovative cuisine. They were dismissive, rude and just down right unhelpful. It seemed only the runners and bus staff knew how to be friendly. Even the manager was

Absolutely amazing spot! - Edit
Everything we ordered was amazing; squashio e pepe and orecchiette were both creamy and flavorful, winter chop salad was sweet and complex with great crunch, and mushrooms were perfectly crispy with a tasty dip. Definitely worth every penny. The space is gorgeous and appropriate for special occasions, too! Highly recommended😄

Update after 1 year - Edit
Hi,
Read moreI've been coming to 12 Month since opening. Love the spot. I've been there perhaps 20 +/- times now, usually bringing a non-vegan with me (I am vegan 12 years, veggie for 50). The initial opening menu was great and I've enjoyed most of the creative concepts in the main menu along with the bar menu.
I ate there last night on a date and I have to say the current menu is falling somewhat flat. The food quality is slipping downward and some of the menu items are a bit edgy for such a small offering. We started with the Fern dish which was underwhelming. Maybe it's because I've never had escargot, and I do know that the majority of your customers are not vegan but it was an odd play for a vegan restaurant. The main of Carrot Curry was also short of their high standard. The vegetables were overcooked. The curry itself was good but the limp vegetables detracted from the dish. I had the 12 month salad which can dusted with whatever that yummy seasoning is and it seems to have changed. It was underdressed and there was some greens past there prime that had turned brown on the tips. The bean soup and bread were both outstanding though!
I eat at all of the bay area Vegan spots, Millennium at least once a month, Both Wildseeds and Skye Cafe in SSF, several vegan spots in the South Bay too. The one thing 12 month is consistently missing in the main menu are proteins. I hope they will think about tempeh, tofu, and combined foods for aminos to assist the vegans. Tofu would have been a great addition to the Carrot Curry, IMHO.
In any case, I love the restaurant and will likely favor the Bar Menu as of right now. Hope the chef is getting out and tasting other vegan menus for perspective.
Thanks and best of luck!

Amazing vegan restaraunt and bake house! - Edit
This has become our new go to spot for date night or just to take the kids on a Saturday morning for the bake shop. Everything is delicious! Feels a little more upscale inside, but the prices are not too high at all. There is a separate bar menu if you choose to sit at the bar or in the outside patio. Highly recommend!

Upscale dining - Edit
I was happy to finally make it to Twelvemonth. It is way larger and bustling than I had expected.
Read moreI had the house made soda which was tasty and also so pretty with a piece of candied citrus peel and little flower garnish. There are also a good number of wines by the glass or bottle.
We started with the crispy maitake mushrooms with a whipped ranch dipping sauce. They were really good.
I selected the Not Paella for my entree which had a crispy rice exterior with yummy cruciferous veggies in a delicious sauce. I liked the contrast of the charred, softer veggies with the crispy rice topping. This dish was slightly salty for me but I still enjoyed it.
My companion had the pear curry and it was also very good.
Unfortunately, we didn't have room for dessert so I'll have to go back another time. The choices looked great.
The wait staff was very attentive and friendly.
The restaurant is large and it was loud making it sometimes difficult to have conversation. And being a two-top, I felt like we were right on top of our neighbors and could hear their conversation.
I think sitting at the counter or with a larger group might make it feel like you have more privacy while dining.
I'm thrilled to see so many people enjoying an elegant vegan meal.
Pros: Upscale dining, Attentive staff, Delicious food
Cons: Loud, Close to neighboring diners

All-star vegan on the Peninsula - Edit
I've been meaning to try Twelvemonth since they opened last year, and finally had a chance, stopping by for Saturday lunch.
Read moreOnce we found a place to park -- downtown Burlingame seems to have become the liveliest place on the Peninsula -- we walked inside the spacious, airy restaurant.
Our server came over as soon as we were seated to introduce herself and hand us menus. She remained attentive but unobtrusive throughout our time there.
The menu has a good array of options, enough so that I found a few potential items but not so many that I was overwhelmed. I ordered the chopped salad, which was delicious (and healthy) while other members of my party got a wrap and a spicy chicken sandwich. I tried everything, all excellent, and we got a dessert to go for later.
Since the Peninsula is mostly devoid of real vegan options, I'm thrilled to find a place that's closer to Palo Alto and much more pleasant than Greens (minus the view).

Best Vegan Burger! - Edit
We ate at Twelvemonth for lunch today. We tried two of the juice non alcoholic drinks and they were great. We preferred the one mixed with grapefruit over the one with apple juice base. For entrees we ordered a salad with falafels and a vegan burger. The vegan burger was the best I’ve eaten. It consisted of a delicious fresh bun, caramelized sweet onions, melted vegan cheddar cheese, and impossible burger meat. The salad and falafel were good, but not great. The dining room is a beautiful and comfortable setting. All the staff were friendly and efficient.

Stylish settings and all vegan - Edit
First impressions were excellent with beautiful and stylish surroundings. It’s all vegan (unless you ask the staff who are quick to use plant-based, I guess in case it scares off the locals). The menu was interesting and made a welcome change from the usual vegan fare (which I also love). It’s different and vegan places like this are hard to find so it gets full marks from me.

Elegant dining, good enough food - Edit
We had a reservation for dining at their opening hour in September, 2023. We took the Caltrain down from San Francisco and it's just a short walk from the Caltrain stop in Burlingame.
Read moreService was spectacular! There seemed to be an abundance of staff just waiting around to assist. If you looked up from your plate, someone would be at your table to ascertain what you needed!
I wanted to know what an ingredient was that was garnishing one of our dishes, and our server immediately went into the kitchen to find out.
I would definitely recommend the mushroom dish. The other dishes were just "good enough". Considering the price point on the dishes, I probably will not be dining here again.
