Fancy plant based vegan eatery

I enjoyed the beautiful classy ambiance of Twelvemonths. They also have a little bakery next to the restaurant and a bar also. The food is tasty and the staff are nice and very attentive. Yet it was a bit too pricey for what we got $72 per person for coffee, dessert, entree, and shared appetizers.

Pros: Ambiance , Wait staff, Food was tasty

Cons: Pricey

OnI of the best restaurants in the Bay Area

Inventive filling food. Their soft serve only served here, is the best soft serve ever! Great desserts too. They also have a vegan bakery with delicious baked goods. Highly recommended! Restaurant is huge with an outdoor area as well.

Excellent!

One of my favourite places to go in the bay! I’ve been twice now, both times for the Chef’s Tasting Menu with the wine pairing, and both times it was just absolutely brilliant – delicious food, fantastic atmosphere, great service

Yummy food

Update review 10/09/2024
We came for anniversary dinner and had the Chef’s Tasting Menu. We sat at the counter, pretty cool watching all the action going on with making our food.
We had a 5 course dinner and the Tamale sounded good so I had one.
Another great dining experience.

We came in at 5 pm and were seated promptly. It was tough making meal choices. We split the Twelvemonth salad. That was good size and enough to split.
Next I had the Paella. I asked not to have broccoli in it and sub cauliflower. The Paella tasted good. Not a traditional Paella tho. Only complaint was way to salty.
Next was the brownie batter. Not sure who came up with the concept but it was really good😀 The wife let me have one of her malasadas. Pretty good.
Really nice dining experience.

Outstanding Vegan Restaurant

Everything is 5-stars; the decor, the service and most importantly the food! Highly recommend gnocchi and carrot curry plus potted pudding for dessert though menu changes with the seasons.

Pros: Outstanding plant based food, Efficient and friendly service , Elegant decor

Cons: Pricey, Parking can be a challenge

Tasty food with trying-to-get-richer-off-me prices

The burger comes as two sliders and if you put them together it doesn’t even make a whole burger. Guess how much they charge anyway? $18! 🤦🏿‍♂️

Oh yeah. And they serve lamb along with other slaughtered animals. So they’re not fully plant-based. Just another restaurant tryna rack up off of words like “vegan” and “plant-based”.

I think the “lamb” is not slaughtered animal lamb. It is imitation meat.

You’re right. I just called and confirmed. I was wrong. It’s imitation, not slaughtered.

Upscale vegan dining

We sat out on the patio on a beautiful sunny day. The service was top notch. By far the most creative and refreshing appetizer was the Clear Melon Gazpacho. It's not to be missed. The 'lamb' gyro with tater tots was delicious and perfectly spiced. They have a great wine and cocktail menu too.

Pros: Beautiful patio, Great service , Dog friendly

Cons: On the pricy side for lunch

Maitake and Mac & please could I have some more!

Was only able to order off the Bar Bites menu as the dining room was full/required reservations. There was still so much good to choose from. Even as I'm writing this review I'm glancing at the menu and wondering if I'll get more. This is a must stop if you're nearby.

Pros: Beautiful Bar Bites & Beer, Great atmosphere and energy, Even the tap water tastes good

Amazing!

Superb vegan cuisine. 5 Star vegan restaurants are very hard to find. The food is fresh, innovative and seasonal. The gazpacho was phenomenal and that was just our first dish. The craft cocktails were inventive. We sat outside and watched the sun go down. It was quiet and easy to visit with our friends who, although not vegan, loved every course. I highly recommend Twelvemonth!

Lucky find

Got out of SFO a little late and found this 10 minutes away. Got a salad and the sliders and those sliders might be the best I’ve ever had. Thinking about them the next day…

Pros: Only two plates but both were excellent, Beautiful build out - interior and exterior , Lots of parking nearby

Cons: Only bar menu available after 9pm, A little pricey but fair value once I tried the fo

Every month

I've been here several times and I always enjoy it. The space is magnificent and vast with lots of modern charm. The menu changes with the exception of a few permanent items. I love the bean stew don't mistake simple for bland. It's packed with flavor and the beans are from Fifth Crow farm iykyk so it's delicious. I wish the portion was a little bit bigger, haha. The dinner menu usually has multiple options I order and go family style even in a party of two. This is a great spot for date night, birthday parties, or any special occasion in Burlingame. Highly recommend.

Tasty but pricey

What a lovely spot to sit on the patio and sip a drink with vegan snacks. I really enjoyed the Mac and cheese and drinks. I was underwhelmed by the gyro, as I was expecting a Greek style pita stuffed with all the goodies but it was a lot thinner of bread and more of a wrap. Still good, but I wouldn’t call it a gyro.

The Bagna Cauda was tasty but one piece of bread cut in to fourths just doesn’t do it for me, especially with an $18 price tag.

Upscale but Won’t Break the Bank

For my birthday this year, I got to try this wonderful higher end dining experience designed for the plant based eater in mind. It took me way more than twelve months into my vegan journey to get here but better late than never!

The chic decor with both indoor and outdoor seating puts this spot on the map. Their fully plant based menu is exciting to see and I was excited to try some of their offerings.

Started with their Fried Maitake Mushrooms and the House Bread. The former were the clear standouts: crispy mushroom chips with a fantastic dipping sauce. The bread was good but didn't blow me away as I had hoped.

For our mains, we indulged in their Radish Cakes and Italian Dumplings. I enjoyed both of the dishes and their presentations but would definitely go back for the latter. The dumplings were simply divine and topped with edamame and a house cream added to its perfection.

My only suggestion would be for them to incorporate some more high protein options into the mix. The use of legumes, tempeh, seitan, etc could really up more of their dishes without losing its culinary integrity. Plus it would get people to eat their "where do vegans get their protein" tongues lol.

Thanks Twelve Month for a great experience!

Amazing Cuisine

We have only been here once. It is the best vegan food we have discovered since Shizen in San Francisco. We throughly enjoyed the tasting menu. So why not all stars? The front of house staff. Such a shame with such innovative cuisine. They were dismissive, rude and just down right unhelpful. It seemed only the runners and bus staff knew how to be friendly. Even the manager was
terrible. You could see the kitchen staff hustling and getting the job done, as waiters and mangers chatted with each other and looked at thier phones. Because of our experience with the front of house staff, we have not been back despite the delicious food.
Chef, don’t let your hard work go to waste. Your food is beautiful, but that staff needs an overhaul.
We all have off nights, so do give this place a try, but just know what you might be getting with the front of house staff.

Pros: Innovative food, Delicious food , Very cool looking space

Cons: Front of house staff, Cannot teleport the food to me

Absolutely amazing spot!

Everything we ordered was amazing; squashio e pepe and orecchiette were both creamy and flavorful, winter chop salad was sweet and complex with great crunch, and mushrooms were perfectly crispy with a tasty dip. Definitely worth every penny. The space is gorgeous and appropriate for special occasions, too! Highly recommended😄

Pros: Delicious food that doesn’t rely on mock meat, Interior/exterior, Friendly staff

Update after 1 year

Hi,

I've been coming to 12 Month since opening. Love the spot. I've been there perhaps 20 +/- times now, usually bringing a non-vegan with me (I am vegan 12 years, veggie for 50). The initial opening menu was great and I've enjoyed most of the creative concepts in the main menu along with the bar menu.

I ate there last night on a date and I have to say the current menu is falling somewhat flat. The food quality is slipping downward and some of the menu items are a bit edgy for such a small offering. We started with the Fern dish which was underwhelming. Maybe it's because I've never had escargot, and I do know that the majority of your customers are not vegan but it was an odd play for a vegan restaurant. The main of Carrot Curry was also short of their high standard. The vegetables were overcooked. The curry itself was good but the limp vegetables detracted from the dish. I had the 12 month salad which can dusted with whatever that yummy seasoning is and it seems to have changed. It was underdressed and there was some greens past there prime that had turned brown on the tips. The bean soup and bread were both outstanding though!

I eat at all of the bay area Vegan spots, Millennium at least once a month, Both Wildseeds and Skye Cafe in SSF, several vegan spots in the South Bay too. The one thing 12 month is consistently missing in the main menu are proteins. I hope they will think about tempeh, tofu, and combined foods for aminos to assist the vegans. Tofu would have been a great addition to the Carrot Curry, IMHO.

In any case, I love the restaurant and will likely favor the Bar Menu as of right now. Hope the chef is getting out and tasting other vegan menus for perspective.

Thanks and best of luck!

Amazing vegan restaraunt and bake house!

This has become our new go to spot for date night or just to take the kids on a Saturday morning for the bake shop. Everything is delicious! Feels a little more upscale inside, but the prices are not too high at all. There is a separate bar menu if you choose to sit at the bar or in the outside patio. Highly recommend!
