New vegetarian/vegan menu - Edit
Went to Treadwell for dinner and they had a seperate vegetarian menu with items that can be veganized. There were about 5 options (pasta, fries, brussel sprouts and a soup).
Read moreWhen we ordered we said "we'll get everything vegan please" and proceeded to order. Our server was confused between vegan and vegetarian and brought out pasta with cheese. Another server had to tell her what the difference was. They fixed it immediately, but pretty sure our soup had some cheese in the garnish.
The food was pretty good, not amazing, but you get pretty large portions.
Pros: Seperate menu , Nice atmosphere
Cons: Be very clear when ordering , Quite expensive

Very disappointing - Edit
My omnivore friend made reservations and reported that they were very positive about having a vegan.
Read moreThe server was very good and let me know that any of the entrees can be made Vegan except the gnocci. They only have two vegetarian options, including the gnocci. So you have one choice - a Risotto.
I happen to really dislike Risotto. Server explained it's not really risotto, it doesn't have any rice, and it's not the soft creamy texture of risotto (which is what I dislike). The dish was marinated pumpkin seeds (so softer than usual) with cooked veggies. It was a very wet texture.
Since I didn't like the risotto dish the server asked what I would like to do? I asked if I could get a selection of the other vegetable sides from the other dishes, which they did for me but it was really another appetizer. They did only charge me for an appetizer which I appreciated, and the pickled beet salad appetizer was delicious. Not a very satiating meal (they really don't seem to like starches at this restaurant).
They did have a vegan dessert, which the server told me would be a surprise if I ordered it. I'm not into surprise food. My friend ordered it and it was good (thick chocolate over nutty/fruity base with sorbet).
Unfortunately, my omnivore friends didn't enjoy their meals as much as they would have normally because they were fretting over my lack of meal. I had chips back at the hotel, so it was fine.
I appreciate their enthusiasm and willingness to have vegans join them, but I wouldn't say they really have Vegan options.

Good vegan options and helpful staff - Edit
My husband and I visited Niagara on the Lake this past weekend and had planed to have dinner at a local restaurant that was unfortunately closed. A woman in one of the shops we visited was vegan and recommended we try Treadwell. We popped in at around 5:30 on a Saturday, and they were kind enough to get us in before their busy time around 7:30. The menu indicates that they can provide vegan options and after speaking briefly with the chef, the man who greeted us gave us two options for each appetizers and main course. As it is a farm to table concept I suspect the menu changes frequently, but my husband got a parsnip soup, I got a mushroom salad, and we both had the mushroom risotto for the main. For dessert they had sorbet made in house. All of the courses were delicious, and the mushrooms were very good quality. They also served house made bread with oil and vinegar which was very tasty.
Read moreWe sat at the bar which looks onto an open kitchen, which was interesting to see. Our server was very kind and all the staff seemed to understand veganism. It was very cozy on a cool night, and looks like it opens up a patio in the summer which would be pleasant.
We enjoyed the food and were glad to have a high-quality vegan option on our trip!
Pros: Good vegan options , Nice ambiance , Kind and helpful staff
Cons: Expensive , Most other customers eating meat etc
