Large open Buddhist vegan restaurant in Binh Thanh District. Offers a buffet with over 30 dishes including: steam vegetables, raw salads, spring rolls, fried food, different soups, rice, noodles, beans, mock-meats, fruits, pancakes, fruit juices, and more. Fairly typical of many of the type, with Buddhist imagery around the walls and a small garden. Facilities are generally basic, but the atmosphere is calming. It has the typical wide range of food and drink options, including noodle, rice and hot pot dishes. Reported to offer condensed cow's milk January 2024.

On our multiple visits to Thien Y Buffet Vegan Restaurant, we've been charmed by its vast selection of vegan dishes and the tranquil ambiance. From fresh salads and spring rolls to delicious mock meats and noodles, every dish we tried was a hit. Thien Y is a must-visit spot for anyone seeking a peaceful dining experience with an abundance of vegan options.

Great choice of food. - Edit
There’s an excellent range of Vietnamese foods on the buffet covering the full range from rice to noodles to hotpot. We checked and the cheese on the pizza is vegan
Read moreHowever beware there’s a carton of condensed dairy milk that customers can pour on desserts so it’s possible they use this in cooking (I don’t know one way or the other but it may be worth checking)
Edit: they confirmed the milk isn’t used in cooking, it’s just available for pouring.

Nice, out of the way place. - Edit
Thien Y has good tasty food in the standard format for these larger Buddhist vego places. A good choice of rice or noodle dishes or hot pots. Not too much reliance on mock meat. Plus a range of drinks as usual.
Read moreThe food is nicer than many similar places and fresh. It passes my Vietnamese friend's taste test - this is the place she mostly brings her vegetarian mother (and not only because it is nearby her house).
Be welcomed by the big red name, just off the road. The place is basic but atmosphere is relaxing (although on Buddhist vegetarian days it might get busy). It is open walled, but the garden isn't that inspiring. A small point.
One thing though: this place is out of the tourist radar. It isn't that far from District 1, but is very much in 'real' Ho Chi Minh City. It is a good experience for that, but consider the travel.
The menu is in VN only. Perhaps a youngster around speaks some English as is usual, or better ask a VN friend to come along...
Pros: Very good food, Relaxing atmosphere
Cons: Out of the way, No English menu
