Serves meat, vegan options available. Family-run small café just off of Rayleigh High St. Has a separate vegan menu which includes cashew nut cheese. Reported closed November 2021.
The only vegan options currently on the menu are mushrooms on toast or they can do a salad, neither of which are even marked as such. Gone are the lovely cashew cheese flatbreads and other options. The server gave us a blank look when we asked for the separate vegan menu they used to do and we had to ask someone else to explain what we actually could have. It’s a bit weird as they have just started stocking DoYos vegan donuts, while more or less completely doing away with their vegan mains. We didn’t stay to eat and headed over to Wild Health in Leigh instead. I will keep any eye out to see if they reinstate their vegan offerings as the food used to be really nice, and would be happy to return, but this time round it was a wasted trip.
This is a very friendly family run café. Lots of options on the vegan menu including soups, flat breads, jacket potatoes. The cashew cheese was so delicious I asked where it was from and it is homemade along with their hummus. I will return every time I am home in the UK :)
Bad service - felt my veganism was awkward for them - Edit
Being local I really wanted to like this place. Cut a long story short the service was very poor. I asked if the hot chocolate was vegan if made with plant milk and the servers response was to look at me with a blank face and say "I don't know I just serve it". I later asked if the sides on the vegan/veggie menu such as garlic bread and sweet potato wedges were vegan, the server walked off into the kitchen without saying a thing and someone came out and said "I can do you a bagel"...totally confusing I didn't ask for a bagel?!
I had the BBQ jackfruit jacket potato. From where I was sitting I could look into the kitchen and saw the chef open the can of jackfruit, 5 mins later my meal is in front of me...no wonder the jackfruit was horrid and not cooked down enough, it should be cooked down for a long time so it falls apart and flavours develop, not just have BBQ sauce poured on it and served. My boyfriends flat bread did look tasty though and he enjoyed it.
