Disappointing

Given the recent negative reviews, I really wanted to have reason to push back and offer some praise. But, those reviews were accurate. The food was mediocre and amateurish. The tofu appetizer had a decent taste but it was overwhelmingly salty. The meatballs were plentiful but undercooked and over sauced. The mushroom pizza oozed cheese and had an underwhelming sauce. Even the mushrooms lacked energy. The food tended to be greasy.

Pros: Attractive restaurant , Not pricey , Many options-maybe some are okay

Cons: Just not that good

It's quite good

Sure, it's not exceptionally special but if you feel like having a solid greasy pizza with lots of melted vegan cheese, it's a good option after long hours of sightseeing.

Pros: Good options on fastfood, Lots of cheeze on your pizza

Cons: Rather expensive

Very lacking

Limited menu with limited imagination, this one lace gives Vegan food a bad reputation.

The food is bland and unimaginative, we had the Taco Combo, which was greasy, over cooked and in some areas felt stale and cold. The samosas were ok but not great. The vegan bacon burger was charred underneath. The ‘bacon’ was not rashers but burnt bits of soya protein. The cheese slice was burnt at the edges and uncooked in the middle.

Very disappointing considering the great Vegan burgers that exist throughout London.

The fries they came with were horribly undercooked and some of the worst I’ve ever had in a restaurant. Considering the price I’d expect a much better burger, and some quality chunky chips.

In my opinion they need to educate themselves on Vegan cuisine and maybe get a new cook.

Cons: Few options, Bland food, Expensive

Cheap looking and tasting food, basic vegan fare. No care or creativity in the food. Atmosphere-less place. Would not go back.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Quiet place, Good enough service

Cons: Expensive, Low quality food, Bad taste

Nice decor bad food

The decor tricks you to eat here. We were the only table inside at lunch time. Ordered a burger and Thai curry dish. The kitchen took 25 mins to make those 2 items. The burger had a frozen taste and the curry with rice was over cooked. It was clumped together. They cannot cook rice. French fries taste like cardboard. This is the place if you want to bring someone to talk. It's quiet and the brasserie are in a very charming location. When we asked for extra plate, the wait staff said : "I cannot give you plates because I don't work in the kitchen." I am confused if she is the bar maid but why did she take our order ? Anyways. It's nice to sit down here but just don't order any food. Maybe some drinks....

Pros: Nice decor , Quiet, Nice booth seats

Cons: Terrible food, Terrible service, Confused wait staff

Good dinner

The restaurant is located in the Rochester Hotel by Blue. Food is tasty, nothing incredible, but we ate everything. Plus they are doing still 20% discount on everything which is nice.

Pros: All vegan, Big restaurant, lots of seats

Lovely little place serving great food

The Brasserie was sadly very quiet on the night we visited but deserved to have more people there. The staff were very friendly and the food was really good. I had the taco mix which was three different tacos - chicken pieces, cauliflower and a mushroom one, all were really good and tasty. They also do a selection of four desserts, cocktails and a great selection of beers, ciders and wines. definitely worth seeking out this little gem

Pros: Great menu, Good cocktails - Pina colada was great, Reasonably priced

Worst food I had in London

I seriously wonder how this place ever got reviews with more than 2 stars (wanted to give 1, but Happy Cow automatically adds one for fully vegan places).

The food was really bad: The tacos were swimming in oil and didn't taste like much besides fat and garlic.

The curry was basically a watery broth with pieces of vegetables and rice swimming in it. No taste besides spicy af.

The staff wasn't too caring either and the WIFI didn't work - that was the least of our concerns though.

If we weren't that tired we would probably have sent the food back entirely.

Nice vegan spot near London Victoria / St James Park

The menu included pizza, burgers, curry, tacos and a range of starters and sides. I ordered the sweet potato and chickpea burger in a brioche bun with fries. The burger and bun was tasty, with a generous amount of avocado. It was a bit soft, could have done with a bit more structure to the burger.

As this is part of The Rocheter hotel, there was a great wine and cocktail list. Nice decor and very friendly staff.

Prices very reasonable for this part of London and at time of writing, 20% off.

A nice addition to the vegan offerings near Victoria and great to see a large hotel being so brave as to have an all vegan brasserie offering.

Disappointing

I was really looking forward to eating here and picked it due to seeing positive reviews but unfortunately my experience was different, and the food was very disappointing. Ordered pulled “chicken” tacos and what arrived was not as described: Fry’s “chicken” pieces (nothing pulled about it) with some gherkins in warm tortilla bread. The cheese and sriracha I was promised from the menu description were nowhere to be seen. Had the fried “chicken” burger and whilst the meal as a whole was okay, and the fries were nice, parts of the burger were rock solid. Brownie was okay but lacked actual brownie flavour.

The Vegan Brasserie is currently based in the restaurant in the Blue Orchid Wellington Hotel; the hotel has its own menu which serves meat so this in not a purely vegan establishment. Service from staff was okay but for some reason they never took our starter plates away (we even stacked them in the middle of our table) and despite seeing them top up everyone else’s wine, we did not receive the same service. I’m more than capable of refilling my own wine glass but it’s nice to be catered to.

You can pass the location of the old restaurant at street level and I’m sure that place was lovely. It’s your choice if you want to take a punt on where and how this place is operating now but I’d say go find somewhere else. The food was mediocre and not worth the money in my opinion, particularly when London is full of actual 100% vegan restaurants with higher quality food.

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Fries

Cons: Chef not preparing food as described , Inconsistent service from staff, Not a vegan establishment

Nice to be waited on...

Excellent eclectic separate vegan menu. Plenty of choice. Cocktails were made very well. We skipped the pizzas, burgers and curries but had many of the items on starters, sides and chose the avocado tacos. Very good portion size. We ordered 3 of the 4 desserts - plain to look at but each deliciously different. De-caff with plant milk to finish. 4 satisfied friends (veg, vegan and non-veg) shared the £100 bill. The basement restaurant was unfussy relaxed and not a place to people watch - but a haven (with gentle music) for 4 harassed working wives to chill and be waited on...
Next time we'll start with cocktails in the magical garden (lovely piano music) and finish with coffee in the comfy lounge...

Pros: All good PLUS delish desserts.., You can have fast food on linen!, Relaxed

Cons: Basement restaurant is not for people watching

Friendly staff, a very large menu (2 pages) with a wide variety. Food was tasty but portions were small for the price.

Unexpected Delight attached to London Hotel

This really is a secret place we feel we've discovered for ourselves. It's not that hidden away once you understand it's part of the hotel. The atmosphere is cute, and has that hotel vibe where they have lots of Parisian tat on the walls for no discernable reason.

We had the tapas option which had some stand-out dishes: the paella was delicious, complex and earthy, the hand-cut gnocchi were very well-made and delivered on flavour. We also went for the taco combo option which allowed us to try out a bunch of flavours, lots of fun. Finished off with one of the richest cheesecakes I've ever had.

We were pleasantly surprised by the price, as we didn't realize they were running a discount - next time must try out the pizza as it looks like a massive bargain!

Pros: Felt like a posh treat without the pricetag, Tapas is great, That Cheesecake!

Just lovely!

The Vegan Brasserie is a gorgeous hotel restaurant in Pimlico, London.

We shared a selection of small plates, including: tacos, paella, gnocci, tofu octopus, sweet potato fries with melted cheese and bacon. All were delicious! I enjoyed the cheesecake very much too!

Friendly and smart waiting staff. Hotel lift music and pleasant understated decor.

Currently (October 2020) they are offering a 20% discount on food.

Pros: Delicious food , Friendly professional staff, Hidden gem

Ok food, overpriced, no atmosphere

Note: it isn't super obvious to find. It doesn't have a sign but says the Grange on it. Part of the Rochester hotel. There was a variety of tapas options which I like as a concept but the flavours were fairly bland and dishes tasted fairly similar. The bruchetta pizza and tofoctopus were nicest. They have main dishes of pizza which I expect would be good based on the bruchetta pizza. thankfully we went on eat out to help out otherwise would've been a bit pricey for average food.

Pros: Variety of dishes

Cons: Expensive, average food

Hope it’s just the beginning

When I came to the place it was absolutely empty. The restaurant has quite poor menu and quite huge space tho. Idk just my thoughts. About the food there’re quite small portions for example two slices of tofu with chopped nori for 6 p . But the cheesecake, damn. I tasted many different vegan desserts and this one one of the best. The look of the dish the taste of the cheesecake, awesome! Don’t wanna say that the rest of my dinner was not good. It was quite pretty. I think the portions should be bigger and more options, I see potential in this place. Hope you will develop it!

Pros: Interesting dishes, Amazing cheesecake , Nice waiter

Cons: A bit expensive, I guess that’s because of area, Music in the hall quite bad, like BAD, Feels the mood of another type of restaurant
