I sat outside and it was lovely. The review beneath me scared me off the pizza so I ordered the vegan sandwich. So glad I came it was very good. A tiny bit of spice which I wasn’t expecting but was good and not too much for me and I’m a baby with spice.
Read moreThe salad dressings are well labeled but for the rest of the menu you have to read the descriptions and work it out for yourself. This is part of why I ordered The Vegan. I thought it would be safest after the cheese fiasco below.

So we found this place via Happy Cow and we have very mixed feelings. If you are one of those vegans that likes "healthy" fresh salad/sandwich type person then you should be fine. If you're going for a vegan pepperoni pizza steer clear. I loved my sandwich and slice of pizza but their online menu says they have vegan pepperoni and they don't. The only vegan "meat" option they have is roasted tofu, which while good, was not something my partner would've come for (and he doesn't do fresh sandwich and bowls due to allergies/sensory issues). We also think the cheese on his pizza was dairy. The cheese on my slice was COMPLETELY different than on his pizza, and when we asked we were told the chef is "pretty sure" it was dairy free. Now we are on a camping trip and my poor partner is sick and spending most of today in the bathroom. So all in all I wouldn't go here again even though my meal was good. They can't guarantee their cheese isn't dairy and their options aren't super great (1-2 sandwiches and limited toppings for pizzas at a crazy price point).

Who doesn’t love a good vegan pizza?? The folks at The Tomato Head have an excellent vegan friendly pie with a build your own and/or seasonal vegan pizza options available! Their vegan friendly salad was also excellent and flavorful and I noticed they offered vegan desserts! Come hungry!

Delicious Vegan Options - Edit
This is our third time to Tomato Head. My veg daughter loved the kids Mac & Cheese Pizza. My hubby and I shared a cheese-less pizza, the tofu salad, and tofu sandwich. All were very tasty and filling.

i don’t really go to tomato head much, but when i do i always love it! it was my first time eating vegan here, and i was very happy at the large amount of vegan options. i got the black bean siracha hummus, as an appetizer, and it was so so good, i really recommend! second, for my entree i got a calzone with vegan cheese, seitan pepperoni, and no ricotta. it was amazing as well, and i certainly didn’t expect the pepperoni to taste as good as it did. the vegan sugar glaze cookie was perfection as well!

This place was great. I got the vegan sandwich with a side salad. It was delicious. I definitely want to try their pizza next time. Our waitress was super nice and very friendly. Vegan sugar cookie was good also. #Veganuary

They had several vegan and vegetarian options which were good. My issue was that they charged a pick up “tip” and then gratuity & did it again when I had to add an item. Service was mediocre at best.

Read moreI got the vegan sandwich on rosemary white with the side salad and basil vinaigrette dressing. My partner got the nondairy cheese pizza with baked tofu. We both got the lemonade which I’d highly recommend. And the vegan chocolate chip cookies were a great way to finish the meal.

Tomato Head is a staple in Knoxville. This location doesn’t have the same vibe as the downtown location, but it’s far more accessible and less of a wait. I have never had a negative experience there. I have had salad, calzones, pizza, and their veggie burger. I love how I have multiple options to choose from. Highly recommend if you’re in town.

As a vegan, just a few options, though what they do offer is good quality food. Venue cafe style, with both indoor and patio seating/eating. I like the #1 pizza with the veg pesto and vegan cheese best.

I love the atmosphere here and stop each time that I pass through Knoxville. On this occasion, I tried the Vegan sandwich. It was marinated tofu, some greens, pesto. I tried the blue corn chips too. So good. The server was great too.

I absolutely love getting to eat at Tomato Head. Their veggie burger is one of the best I have ever had. I am a creature of habit so I don’t ever spice it up, but they have lots of vegetarian and vegan sandwich options as well! The staff is so kind, and that’s one of the main reasons I return!

One of the few good places for vegetarians and vegans to eat in Knoxville, Tennessee. Plus it's a woman-owned small business and one of two Tomato Head restaurant locations. They are unique since large chain and fast fast casual chains are the norm. Vegan cheese and single add on vegetables options for a thin crust pizza that is delicious. Recommend the Roger Roger, Kepner Melt, and Cheddar Head sandwiches. Also, create your own pizza with vegan cheese. The fresh salad is good also.
