The staff will assist in identifying ways to veganize. Sample dishes such as green curry, red curry, spring rolls, noodle bowl, Lao sandwich, and stir-fry bowl. Can ask for bobo tea with coconut milk.

Good food

First time eating here. We ordered 2 fresh spring rolls with tofu, a red curry, and grandma's stir-fried noodles with tofu and no egg. We also had mango sticky rice for dessert. Everything was tasty, but the noodles had no veggies and were also a small portion (so not very filling). We were a bit bummed given it cost $15. The hostess who seated us was very kind and quick. The first person who waited on us didn't understand what vegan meant. We had to do the "nothing from animals, so no meat, no dairy, no eggs" spiel twice, which made us nervous. Could've been a language barrier? We didn't get there at a crowded time, so I was also surprised at how long it took for the food to come out. Glad we got an appetizer because of that. Thankfully the food was all vegan.

Pros: Tasty, Nice staff, Large curry portions

Cons: Not all staff knowledgeable in what vegan is, Some dishes have small portions, Small rice portions

The Rice is to Die For

Probably my favorite sticky rice I’ve ever had! I had never had Laotian food, and I cannot wait to try more.

The rice is just so nice

This place has a few things on the menu that are vegan and a few others that can be made that way no problem. The papaya salad has fish sauce so ask for that to be left out and bring a little vegan fish sauce from home to splash on it and you find nirvana instantly. Very friendly people and cozy little dining area. It’s nice and holy wow, the rice.

Pros: Sticky rice, Little indications on the menu , Friendliness

Cons: Small, Parking, Strip mall location

Vegan and Gluten Free options

Most dishes can be made vegan by omitting meat and are clearly marked on the menu with "V." I had the noodles and vegetables and the panang curry. You could get both with tofu as your protein but I got extra veggies. Bonus is that they have multiple gluten free options as well. Very friendly family owned restaurant and good prices.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Gluten free options, Good prices

Holy coconut!

So the Menu is clearly marked with "options that can be made Vegetarian". And that's really great. They also have several gluten free options. The veggie stir fry is definitely amazing.

Pros: Parking lot, Vegan options clearly marked

It puts the Laotian in the basket

Great place with some vegan options. You can order iced coffee or boba and ask for no dairy. They have coconut milk.

The tofu sandwiches (similar to bahn mi) are the best. They get fresh bread on Wednesday and Saturday and serve until they run out of bread. Sometimes they run out the same day.

Veggie fried spring rolls and tofu fresh rolls are good.

Pros: Friendly

Cons: They can run out of bread

Excellent in every way

I’ve been to this amazing family owned restaurant more times than I can count. They have a handful of scrumptious vegan options. They are also very mindful of diets and if you let them know then can make slight changes to make something vegan. The grandmother does all of the cooking and most of the staff are family. They are incredibly helpful, friendly and accommodating. They all work together and watching them during a rush hour is amazing. Prices are reasonable.

Even though a stir fry doesn’t sound very exciting, theirs is amazing! Their fresh spring rolls, not fried, are wonderful. The curry plate is very good, but be prepared for spicy. And the Kow Poon is equally as good and spicy. If you want a sandwich, just ask for their Lao Sandwich to be made with oil, not butter. Also the Noodle Bowl is very good. I like mine with the friend spring rolls inside of it. And yes, they serve traditional sticky rice in bamboo containers that is meant to be eaten with ones hands.

I highly recommend it. The menu is also well marked.

Pros: Handful of vegan options, Super friendly , Good service

Cons: Can get very busy during peak times

Amazing!

Today was my first visit to Sticky Rice Cafe and my first time eating Laotian food. I loved it!! The staff was friendly and knows how to help you pick veggie options. I got the panang curry with tofu and sticky rice and I loved it so much!! It was just the right amount of spice for me. I will definitely be back. I got to speak with the owner briefly and she said her mom is the cook. I’m happy to support a local, family owned, veggie friendly restaurant. You need to go!

Pros: Homemade food, Many options to veganize, Family owned and operated

Amazing food!

I've never had Laotian food so wasn't sure what to expect, but the Sticky Rice Cafe far exceeded any expectations that I had. The restaurant is locally owned by a family from Laos and the owner's mother is the cook. While there are meat/fish dishes on the menu, the opportunities for vegans and vegetarians are numerous. We had a large group so tried various dishes. I have to say that the Green Curry with tofu may have been the best southeast Asian curry dish that I have ever had. The Red Curry was also amazing. There is a Laotian sandwich in which you can have whatever kind of "meat" you want and my daughter had tofu and vegetables as her "meat" and the sandwich was very filling. Our group also had the Stir-Fry vegetables. The waitress offered a Red Curry soup that is similar to Tom Yum soup but was vegan. We also bought Bobo teas which were veganized by using coconut milk. All in all a delicious expereince! I just wished I lived in Knoxville as I would go there all the time.

Pros: Food is amazing-fresh and tasty, Staff--friendly, helpful, Willing to "veganize" anything!

Cons: Only one location in Knoxville, Does offer meat and fish
