Delicious Sunday roast - Edit
The walnut and cashew roast was one of the tastiest I’ve ever had. Plus the added rare bonus of a Yorkshire pudding

Sunday v-roast - Edit
Seems unlikely you'd get a full vegan menu in an East End London pub... but that's the case here. Sunday roast offers 3 main dishes. I had the celeriac roast, another option was beet Wellington. Lovely warm comfort food. Roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding, unctuous gravy, carrots and greens. Like the way they made crackling from potato skins.

Cons: Drinks menu for table could be a bit more varied

The Good Pub - Edit
Great vegan sunday roast in an easy going & buzzing pub. The vegan roasts on offer were creative and tasty served with well cooked, bright greens, crispy roast potatoes, a (slightly too thick but still) satisfying yorkshire pudding and a super gravy. Definitely worth another visit.

Cons: Could do with wider selection of beers

The Spread Eagle - Edit
It was fine. This restaurant is super out of my way and I didn't find the food good enough to entice me to come back. The presentation was on point, but the flavor missed the mark in a big way. Maybe I went on an off day...

Great vegan pub - Edit
I didn’t know sweetcorn fritters could taste so good! Plantain starter was a little on the small side but super tasty and the main more than made up it size-wise. Great service from the friendly staff and they have vegan wine🍷 Highly recommended.

Hadn’t realised it wasn’t Club Mexicana in the kitchen anymore, but now it’s really great pub food with generous portions. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff.

Great venue for a night out - Edit
Without a doubt a proper pub where you can enjoy a night out. Spacious with friendly staff !
Read moreBeen there around 2 years ago, the vegan Mexican style food on that day was unbelievable. After returning just recently for lunch, I must say that the current British twist on the menu it's a brilliant vegan interpretation of the typical pub food. Although less colourful and fun than the Mexican food tried previously.

Loved it here but gluten free options are unfortunately very limited so would not go often. Baked shamembert was incredible.

So tasty! We had the roast dinners, and both mine and my partners were really tasty! Best vegan roast we have had out I would say! Cosy pub with great vibes and delicious cocktails too. I would say the price is mid range, not a cheap eat but certainly worth it!

An absolute must visit if you’re in or around East London! All vegan menu and drinks with some classic pub dishes reincarnated beautifully from a plant based perspective. Super cool and polite staff and quality quirky decor. Love it!

Just stupendous! - Edit
Been for a late afternoon visit twice now. Covid restrictions in place both times which meant table service.
Read moreGorgeous pub surroundings and a huge range of vegan beer, wine and cocktails. Even without the vegan food menu this would be a very good pub.
But oh man, what a menu! Pub classic items reimagined and recreated in vegan style. Ploughman's lunch replete with excellent pork pie and vegan blue cheese. Pie, mash and liqueur on a blue china plate. Burgers, fries with curry sauce (chickpea fries!!!). If you're a vegan who wants to try traditional British pub food, this is the place.
Booking recommended for mealtimes.
Pros: Lovely staff, Amazing food and drink, Nice surroundings

Food now made in house by Spread Eagle, not club mexicana - Edit
Menu change over lockdown did not disappoint even though we came for the club mexicana. Still 5 stars and so so good, 100% vegan menu, drinks included. Had the hen of the woods buffalo burger, chickpea fries with curry mayo, pie and mash and croquettes with truffle mayo (really tasty). Can't recommend highly enough, great to have a vegan pub to visit.

A must when in London! - Edit
Arrived at a time when they were only serving drinks (3-5pm), however the staff checked with the kitchen and kindly made us some food as well as we’d visited for a late lunch. The food was great, as were the cocktails, and the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating!

Me likey - Edit
Had the triple fried chips, wings and quesadillas and a bit too much beer!
Read moreThe quesadillas were the best out of the three - they were gooey, yummy and there wasn't enough! It's really good.
The chips were a bit oily and salty for me but they were cooked perfectly.
The wings were also a bit too oily but had a nice batter on it - it's a good one to try.
For the price, the servings are small but I'll be back again to try the other offerings.
The pub, as a pub goes, is a tad bit loud.
Pros: All vegan pub bro!
Cons: Pricey, Oily

Very good pub grub - Edit
Club Mexicana provide the food in this "all vegan" pub. Thankfully their food is not "all spicy and hot" but for those who like it so there are plenty of spicy condiments!
Read moreThe menu is limited and we were tempted to order one of everything to share between the two of us. Only the spicy dip was left at the end of our meal and some things like the mushroom scallops and deep fried cheese could have been eaten all over again.
The only gripe I'd have is the rather boring nature of the burger bun bread, but the rest was sensuous.
Only one dessert, and it is sweetened without refined sugar so we had two ice creams in batter and left aside the chilli chocolate. very nice. It's not cheap but its good. the pub got rather busy and noisy as they do.
Returned in December 2019, and had the Xmas menu. The food is still exciting and different. You can tell that despite their success there is considerable effort made in the kitchen to keep standards high. The portions are still not generous but they are still tasty!

Mexican food at a classic pub - Edit
Before you go, make sure you’re aware that it’s not classic pub food here! The menu is fully Mexican-inspired. We had a Cheeseburger quesadilla, a KFC burger and potatoes. All were good. We enjoyed the vast gin & tonic options as well!
