Pricey but oh, so worth it! - Edit
Our joke after eating at The Soup Company was, “We just paid $90 for soup. Who cares.” when considering prices for other things. Is paying $90 for soup a little crazy? Yeah, but we would do it again in a heartbeat.
Read moreThe restaurant was PACKED and for good reason! The service was absolutely wonderful and had a system in place to handle the large crowd that made it seem so much better. I ordered the only vegan soup but it was so good that I didn’t mind having only one option. If you’ve been traveling around Iceland already then you know soup is going to be your best bet in a lot of places as a vegan option. So I definitely ate my share of it. But I enjoyed this soup more than any of the others! It was so hearty, so comforting, and the perfect ending of a day on the glacier.
My husband ordered the trio and tried all of the other options and LOVED them. In a review of another restaurant I said a pizza was his favorite meal of the whole trip. Until I was reviewing Soup Company and remember that actually THIS was his favorite meal.
The best part of the restaurant is that everyone gets a free refill of a bowl of soup and all you care to eat bread.
Also, if you are in the area and looking for a glacier hike and ice cave tour 20/10 recommend Heading North. Reynir is 5 Stars all the way and wouldn’t have wanted to do the tour with any other company!

Great to have some soup and warm up on a rainy day. There was one vegan option, a sweetcorn and spinach soup. 1 free refill.

They seem to rotate their 1 vegan choice given previous reviews. You get 1 free refill.

Came with unexpected bread which was great, but it came with butter so maybe ask them to leave that of

Vegan macaroons! - Edit
The creamy roasted cauliflower soup was tasty and had some heat from cracked peppercorns. Free soup refills and free bread for dipping guarantees you’ll leave feeling full. A nice surprise was vegan macaroons! Coconut and almond paste with aquafaba and a caramel filling. They were delicious and I wished I had bought more than 6 as two of us gobbled them up easily as a snack the next day.

Delicious soup with free refill - Edit
The soup was really good, it came with a lot of bread and you could get a free refill which made the price worth it. They always offer one vegan soup which, in our case, was a cauliflower/Brokkoli-soup.

Tasty soup with refill - Edit
They serve a vegan cauliflower soup, comes with bread and (not vegan) butter. Taste is good, little spicy. Really good to warm up after a cold day. Friendly and fast service. 2290ISK (13€) - including free refill - really cheap for icelandic standard.
Read moreRefill is for free (they also asked if more bread is wanted).
Its a more touristic place, but so the whole cuty seems.

The best vegan macarons - Edit
The cauliflower soup is good to drink after a cold day. I love the vegan macarons are the best I have ever had! The free butter is not vegan.

A fine and filling option - Edit
Vik is a small town so you only have so many options, but who doesn't love soup in a bread bowl? The one vegan option (an Indian-themed soup) was great, as was the lava-themed bread it came in. With the refill of soup, it's more than enough food. You might have to request the bread bowl as an add-on, and another reviewer says you can ask for olive oil instead of the butter they usually serve with the vegan option.
Read moreMy traveling companion got the broccoli cheddar (is it actual cheese? Is the cheese vegetarian? Who knows.), and thought it entirely unremarkable. She got a refill of the Indian-themed soup instead. The hype that this is the best soup ever is way too far, but I was more than satisfied.
Pros: Convenient, Will give you energy for your longest hike
Cons: One option

Just one vegan option, but tasty! Filling "vegan Indian soup", with bread and refill (for both). Great on a cold day!

Yummy Soups! - Edit
We got the soups which were served with the bread and butter. We thought this may not be enough and ordered a panini each ( pesto panini and salsa panini). Only after payment the staff informed that the soup was unlimited which was a bummer considering now we had too much food😒If you are a small eater, for 2 people just soup and sharing a panini should be enough. Food quality was great.

Almost no vegan options - Edit
There is only 1 option for vegan soup here which is baffling, considering soup is one of the easiest things one could make vegan.
Read moreThe very medium sized portion was disappointing at best, a watery vegetable broth with almost nothing in it - and no protein other than a small sprinkle of pumpkin seeds. Yes they offer 1 refill but that wasn’t enough to leave feeling remotely full. The bread & butter is not vegan.

Delicious! - Edit
The soup is so good and not that expensive! You get two servings of soup and it comes with bread! There’s always a vegan option. When we went, the winter vegetable soup was the vegan option and it was sooooo good after a super cold and blustery day. The Icelandic herbal tea is also a must!

Amazingly good! - Edit
They have one vegan soup and this time was the Indian winter soup. They were really kind and ask if I was vegan so they won’t add the cream and changed the butter that comes with the bread for olive oil. Dessert was delicious. They have more than one option. The apple pie was to die for and the carrot and pistachio was good but a little bit to sweet for me, I would still order it in the future!

Our tour guide took us to this restaurant in Vík. I had the Thai soup. It wasn’t bad, but nothing to write home about. Slightly disappointing as I’ve had good vegan options in Iceland.

Not Special - Edit
The only vegan soup they serve called indian winter and its very spicy. So its no good choice for a vegan who dont like hot things. One advantage: you can get a second portion for free.

Not bad soup - Edit
Had the Thai noodle soup (the vegan option) and it was not bad. We also had the falafel salad (sans feta cheese) and the falafel was good but the dressing was weird. Delicious coffee and unlimited bread (comes with butter which is obviously not vegan). The soup isn’t too pricey and comes with a refill but it adds up if you get a salad and drinks.

Worst soup in Iceland - Edit
For a restaurant that specializes in soup, I truly don’t know how they’ve survived this long. Probably be a it’s one of two restaurants in Vik.
Read moreI ordered their one vegan soup option, a Thai noodle soup, and it was absolutely disgusting. It tasted like water with oil and cheap vegan stick cubes. No flavor, seasoning, or anything. Inside floated some overcooked pasta and two edamame beans. The bread that came with the soup was stale white bread of the lowest quality.
The price is high because each soup includes a second serving, but although I was still hungry, I could simply not make myself eat more of that. I also got the falafel salad and while the falafel was ok (it was clearly some frozen supermarket variety) all it came on was iceberg lettuce with a horrendous mustard dressing.
And apparently even the non vegan soup my boyfriend ordered was gross. So I truly don’t get the appeal and good reviews. Especially because service was SUPER slow (and all they had to do was put a pre made soup in a bowl) and very unfriendly. We were ignored for a good ten minutes when we came in and stood waiting to order. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place.
Cons: Disgusting food, Unfriendly staff, Expensive

Vegan winter soup - Edit
I had the vegan daily soup which was an Indian winter soup (doesn’t seem to change). It was filling & tasty with the right amount of spice. Unlimited bread on the side & a refill on the soup made it a great meal for the price (only about 1750isk I think). GF had the vegetarian mushroom soup and she really liked that too. Great to find a vegan option in such a small town in Iceland!

The vegan soup was "Indian winter soup", it had a nice spice to it and was very tasty! You get a second refill included, and the bread is unlimited. Therefore you can have a really filling lunch for a reasonable Icelandic price
