Good vibes - all vegan - Edit
Casual dining located in a charming indoor strip mall with interesting art exhibits and other vegan friendly shops. They have healthy options but I went straight for the junk food. Everything tasted great and the employees were super friendly. I liked the tshirts they were wearing and found out they are available for purchase so I went home with a couple. Happy to have stumbled upon this gem.

My FAVORITE vegan spot in Lex! - Edit
This is my absolute FAVORITE vegan place in Lexington. Everything I’ve had here is great! I love the nachos and my husband (meat eater) said their classic impossible burger is one of the best burgers he’s had!

Incredible food and great sized potions. It is so cool to have a place like this that is vegan. Their drinks are very good as well. The chicken and waffles are better than any other food I have eaten in life. Best meal ever.

Indifferent - Edit
First time visit, placed order for takeout over their website. Food was ready on time and at good temperature. We ordered onion rings, vegan chili cheese queso fries & cajun shrimp linguine. The onion rings were delicious and battered well, the fries were crispy and light but the portion size or price ($9.99) needs to be revised as it was the size of a side order anywhere else not a plate. The cajun shrimp linguine was saturated in oil that went through the paper to the bottom of the box. It was good but if you’re adverse to oil beware. It lacked any sort of cajun flavor, overall it was sort of bland but it was creamy and the vegan shrimp was interesting. We wouldn’t order anything besides the onion rings again. I do appreciate that they use compostable containers and silverware, and it’s a nice building, appeared clean.

Read moreI am so happy this restaurant opened. I couldn’t wait to try it ,if nothing else just a support an all vegan joint. I ate the oyster mushrooms before I ever got home so no picture. The flavor was perfect! They could be a little more crunchy but I did do takeout versus in restaurant! . The spicy shrimp linguine is amazing. I will definitely be back in April.
I had coconut shrimp and I’m telling you…damn!
The buffaloes cauliflower was amazing!!
4/12/22 Oyster Mushrooms are best I’ve ever had!!

Delicious creative hip friendly - Edit
Delicate fried “chik” oyster mushrooms on waffle with ample syrup. Mango tea with free refills. Happening modern mall from beautifully restored bus line garage. Immaculate with good optional COVID cautions. Dedicated free parking lot in back. A vegan cupcake shop nearby and coffee/donut shop with vegan options daily. The friendly staff approached and welcomed us immediately noticing we were new and explaining the ordering process. He even offered items on the lunch menu which didn’t technically become available till later.

Neat place with great menu - Edit
I was passing through town on a road trip and this was the perfect spot for a late lunch. As other reviewers have mentioned, the chicken Philly sandwich was incredible. I also really enjoyed the oyster mushrooms and wish I’d tried even more of the menu. The venue is really neat and I’ve never seen so many frozen drink options.

Great option - Edit
While i would’ve loved to see a few more options on the menu, this was definitely a spot we would return to next time we are in town.
Read moreWe ordered the nuggets, onion rings, chikn and veg quesadillas, Cajun shrimp linguine, coconut shrimp, and street corn.
Nuggets were just as I remembered eating as a kid and hit the spot. It’s hard to find vegan onion rings and these hit the spot! Just as I remember them to be with a great crunch and not greasy either! The quesadilla would have been nice if there was an option without veggies (for my kiddos) but I thought it was very tasty! The cheese was nice and melty with some stretch, great flavor! There quesadilla was was bigger than I anticipated so that was a good surprise! My husband ordered the linguine and said he would definitely order it again. It was a large serving with plenty of shrimp in it! It had a little kick to it and had a great flavor in the sauce. The coconut shrimp was great, good crunch and the sauce was fabulous. My only complaint would be that I wish there was more coating the shrimp. I would however still order it next time. Last, the street corn. Fantastic! I have been craving sweet corn for years! This was excellent! Good thick coating of topping and so flavorful. I will get two orders next time!
They also have a variety of margaritas that looked fantastic and would love to try if we were to sit and eat vs takeout.
I was greeted by a friendly gentleman and nice conversation while another employee grabbed my food. Definitely fits the name, social vegan.
Pros: Great flavor, Options that aren’t common elsewhere for vegans
Cons: A little pricy for a meal without sides included

Thank goodness - Edit
I am so glad to have found this place! We were going to the North Lime Coffee Shop for their vegan doughnuts, and found this in the same (Greyline) building, so stayed for lunch. It's not sure whether it wants to be a bar or a restaurant. It has a nice menu full of great options -- much more than just bar food -- yet everything comes in paper take-away boxes. The seating arrangements are for a bar: stools along a bar and a few 2-person tables. But no place for a larger group to sit and enjoy a meal together.
Read moreThe food is both delicious and filling. Many restaurants seem to believe that vegan portions must be small, but Social Vegan understands that vegans get hungry too. I had an excellent black bean burger with a chipotle sauce that was clearly all from scratch. We also had a sausage roll, mushroom caps, and quesadillas (a very good melty cheese). Great flavor and satisfying all around. They know what they are doing in the kitchen.
The staff is friendly, courteous, and professional. The only downside of the experience was the long wait. There weren't a lot of customers, and there were four people working the grill area, but the food was still a very long time in preparation. Not sure what was going on there. The music was a little on the loud side as well: again, the ambiance says bar. Maybe the place makes more sense at night.
Some other reviews have criticized the prices. Entrees ran about $15, which felt a little on the high side, but it is a nice establishment preparing quality (and 100% vegan) food, so I can't complain. I hope more people support it.

Pricey and not great! - Edit
I had high hopes when I found The Social Vegan while passing through Kentucky. The prices seemed a little high but not outrageous since the food looked good online. I do not recommend the Cajun Shrimp Linguini. It had very little flavor (I forgot until writing this review that it was supposed to be "Cajun" since it definitely was not!) I ended up throwing it out since it was not flavorful + the pasta was mushy. I had never had vegan shrimp before, but would not try it again (very hard texture).

Vegan, but Pricey - Edit
I ordered the Chop Chop salad from here and it was good - but not worth almost $15. Most of their food feels overpriced for what you get, but I am glad it is a vegan option. The quesadillas are good as well.

Best black bean burger I've had in a while - Edit
The concept of The Social Vegan is very cool: a little bar you can stand (or sit) and socialize at, or get a bite to eat. I didn't get any drinks, but the black bean burger was flavored perfectly and complimented well by the avocado and chipotle sauce. It had an amazing texture, and was pretty big. It's pricey, but I'd recommend the black bean burger.
