Best Breakfast Burrito - Edit
Thrilled to have finally visited The Root. I had the pleasure of trying their Saturday special, the breakfast burrito. This burrito is massive and loaded full of goodies. I added mushroom of course but otherwise I wouldn’t change a thing. They also had Dirty Sheets hot sauce which I just had to try. They are a great local hot sauce company too!

Amazing Vegan Cafe in Massillon - Edit
This place is awesome! Their menu has so much variety, it was hard making a decision on what to order. I went with the special of the day which was lasagna, garlic bread, and a side salad. It was amazing! I will definitely be coming back. I also grabbed some cookies on the way out and they were so good that they didn’t make it home! Great to see an all vegan place in Massillon! #Veganuary

100% Vegan Menu packed with choice - Edit
The menu board is packed with so many choices among each category (appetizers, salads, entrees). We enjoyed the jackfruit BBQ wrap and the Italian Sausage sandwich. The service is excellent, efficient. The food is delicious. It was not greasy, Everything was packed with flavor.

Wrong order not friendly kicked out early - Edit
Arrive before 4:30 they close at 5; said we could eat in, after paying they told my husband we could not eat in, the food was packaged in Styrofoam take out boxes and the sandwich I ordered was wrong not what I ordered. Atmosphere was cute but we weren’t able to enjoy it not pleasant experience for either of us.

A Small & Friendly Vegan & GF Cafe - Edit
I have been to The Root the past 4 weekends. Once with my dad, by myself, with a friend, and with my boyfriend. All of us genuinely enjoyed our food and our overall experience there. The staff is very friendly. They always make sure you're enjoying your food and thank you for your support of their cafe. I've tried a few items from their current menu and a few of their specials of the day. I was told they make all of the cheeses from scratch, as well as sauces and dressings, chips, desserts, breads, pizza dough, potato salad and much more. A nice mix of clean, healthy options and comfort foods to choose from. They even sell handmade items such as bath bombs, chest rub, body butter, and more.
Read moreI've tried the Mediterranean pizza (herbs and olive oil, peppers, tomatoes baby greens, onions, roasted garlic, fresh basil, and "mozzarella" without olives). It was delicious, hands down the best crust I've ever had in my life. The philly was good (smoked mushrooms, sauteed peppers and onions smothered in "cheese" sauce on a hoagie bun). I wasn't a fan of the coleslaw. It was fresh but I didn't like the flavor. My dad liked it though! The "chicken" enchilada bake special (layers of tortilla, jackfruit, sauteed peppers and onions, jalapeños, and sauce, topped with more sauce and cheese, with a guacamole salad and rice) was incredible! I would say my favorite dish yet. The dessert rolls they make are fantastic too. I've tried the peanut butter and jelly, cinnamon toast, and strawberry rolls.
Today my boyfriend and I ordered the Salisbury "steak" special (pea protein "meat", mashed potatoes, gravy, and roasted balsamic glazed carrots with their herb bread). We both enjoyed it and were happy with the portions. We got two blueberry banana dessert rolls to go.
Pros: 100% vegan, Anything can be made GF, Good prices
Cons: Styrofoam cups, plastic utensils

Great food - Edit
I was happy to see that Massillon has a fully vegan restaurant now and even happier that the food was amazing! I had the philly & loaded fries. The cheese sauce on the philly was flavorful and had a great texture. I loved the fries and the coconut bacon on top was a nice addition. Definitely recommend checking them out!

A Vegan Place in Massillon!! - Edit
My husband and I visited The Root for lunch. I grew up in Massillon and I couldn't believe that there is an all-vegan restaurant here now. I got the "philly" sandwich with homemade potato chips. They make their own cheese in house and the philly cheese sauce was absolutely amazing. My husband got the special of the day which was a stuffed artichoke portabello mushroom over creamy alfredo pasta which was equally delicious. They give you big portions and the staff is very friendly! I do not live in Massillon anymore but I will definitely be back here every time I visit home. One downside is all the plates, cutlery, containers, and cups (Styrofoam) are non-reusable even if you are dining in. We hope they can change this in the future. They also do not serve coffee which is strange as they call themselves a cafe. They also have desserts which we did not try, but the cafe used to be a bakery and I've tried sweets from the bakery some years ago. Overall, we loved it here and the food is stellar.
