Great vegan burger and real ale - Edit
Fantastic. Real ale, old school. Vegan burger looked made from scratch, around 5 vegan choices. Amazing.

I had a great lunch here, vegan sausages and mash with seasonal veg. Everything was delicious and a really big portion. Yummy mulled apple cider too, and the whole bill came to £11. Highly recommend 😊

Lots of vegan options on the menu, all clearly labelled. Friendly staff. Very clean pub with hand sanitizer on every table. Reasonable prices.

So impressed with the menu and variety of options at the Red Deer - plus they were doing vegan before it was cool.
Read moreThey don't always get it right (I remember some very big slabs of tofu with no seasoning a while back) but that's only because they try new things and are willing to experiment.
Not the fanciest meal of your life, but good honest pub food and a great space to sit by the fire, enjoy a pint and tuck into a big meal

We've eaten here many times, mostly with non-vegan friends and everyone has always been happy with their meals. They offer vegan Sunday roast, which is good but I think some of their other options are more flavourful (maybe because I've never been a Sunday roast lover). I've had their falafel wrap twice and it was great and my partner enjoyed almost all the other vegan option. The fries are also delicious, and they have a few vegan dessert options too.

We ate in here on a Saturday in January. This pub has been a star of the Sheffield beer scene since forever, and now it has Vegan food. The food is great, portions are generous and prices reasonable. All vegan options, including the beer, are clearly identified. I'd eat here again, and the beer is great.
Read moreCame back today and ordered vegan fish and chips. Due to a slight miscommunication they brought actual fish out. However, the mistake was rectified with great good humour, chef went out to Tesco to get more stocks of tofu and we got a free round of drinks to compensate. The tofu fish n chips was outstanding, and the service here is just excellent. I will come here again.
Third visit here today (a Sunday). Food just gets better, the Sunday dinner option was very tasty, service just excellent. Love it.

I previously rated this place 1* as I didn't enjoy the food, but having been back again, I really enjoyed it and would thoroughly recommend their vegan options - very tasty!

This is a right proper boozer full of character. British at its best. The vegan options on the menu are quite astonishing such as ‘fish’ and chips, cottage pie, sausage and mash, breakfast bun, tempeh & sundried tomato sandwich to name a few. Typical pub fayre. As we’d just eaten we had a couple of half’s of Hoegaarden. All vegan draught beers are labelled as such too.

I love this understated pub. Vegan food is great, starters, mains and puddings. Good taste, portions and prices. The Southern Fried Tofu is delicious as is the vegan Sunday lunch. There are other yummy options too, tempeh and salad sandwich is a winner for me. To drink you will find vegan beer, herbal teas and coffee. Not sure if they had plant milk as I didn't ask. Then why not round it off with a board game. We tried Obama's Llamas!

I love this pub! Just ate Southern Fried Tofu with vegan slaw and Cajun corn, with a side of BBQ Cauliflower 'wings'. Yum!

Many vegan options. Hark back to your students days and coming to veganism from McDonald's/Burger King every day. This kind of fare would be your salvation. So not gourmet exactly but it doesn't need to be! Friendly staff and great to have yet another place with vegan options. Nice to visit if nearby, good beer and a nice easy change.

We came here on a bank holiday when everything else was already closed. Staff was very friendly, the pub had a good vibe. We had the burger and the battered tofu, both really good, and generously portioned. Now my pub of choice in Sheffield.

Fantastic Vegan Food! - Edit
I came here three times last week while staying with friends in Sheffield and every time the food was utterly fantastic! The vegan board was an all-round delight and I just loved the vegan burger, homemade with sweet potato, butternut squash, cashews and ginger. I was also amazed to learn that the bar staff are able to tell you which of their beers are vegan-friendly! Definitely above and beyond what I would normally expect from vegan pub food. Highly recommended!
