pub supposedly with vegan options - Edit
Nice setting for a few beers. There are a few Vegan options on the menu but when you try to order, the staff said they didn’t have the vegan cheese (listed on the menu) and they couldn’t sell a bowl of chips because they needed to save the chips for the burger meal. I’m assuming there’s more choice during peak snow season but we went there at the start of March (2024)

No thanks - Edit
Last season they had a veggie burger, they have now just cooked veggies and about 10 beans in a “burger”. It’s a poor excuse to make up for not having the veggie patty any more. Not to mention veggies undercooked. Could maybe half the price, and sell it for what it’s worth or just order veggie patties??? BYO bun as theirs has milk.

Cons: Not good vegan choices, Veggies undercooked and burnt, Milk In bread

They don't update their online menus - Edit
They changed the veggie burger to something with mushroom and capsicum without updating their menu on their website. Personally we didn't find the new option appetising. So we were left with nothing to eat but appetisers / sides and no other options as you can't eat anywhere in Hakuba winter without a reservation.
Read moreBasically ruined our night. If you have specific dietary requirements don't trust their online menu. Call ahead to ensure they can accommodate you.
Also drinks are more expensive there than other spots in Hakuba.
Cons: Menu out of date, Drinks more expensive than other locations.

Okay options but expensive, good coffee - Edit
Very friendly staff, menu in english and Japanese. Coffee is very good. Dairy free milk options included soy, oat and possibly other options.
Read moreCurrently the vegan burger is only vegan when not using the bun, I had it in a lettuce wrap. I was happy to be able to eat anything substantial as it's been tricky travelling Japan in some spots.
Breakfast I had the avocado toast made vegan and added hash browns. You will pay the same price as the avo toast with all the non vegan extras (egg & feta) which kinda sucks. Worth it to get a good coffee though.
Looks like the salad may be able to be made vegan too.
Pros: Willing to alter food to make it vegan, Good coffee + multiple dairy free milks
Cons: Expensive, Pay the full price even when subtracting item

BEST VEGAN BURGER - Edit
The Veggie burger was soooo good! It was totally vegan with vegan cheese, special sauce, tasty ass bun and also the most delicious smoky mushroom that replicated bacon. Super super good. Can confirm I have had 3 in my time here.

One option... - Edit
We asked if they could do anything vegan. Thankfully they understand veganism and were honest. You can have the veggie burger in lettuce as the bun has milk in it. Not really the answer wec we're hoping for.

Not vegan friendly, great for vegetarians - Edit
The veggie burger has milk in the buns and was given it without buns. No alternative bread options. Told them I was vegan and the slaw had what was likely dairy based dressing. I wouldn't bother.

Limited vegan options - Edit
Great atmosphere and convenient location but very limited options. Veggie burger must be adapted as some ingredients and bun not vegan. Veggie sandwich was delicious.

great food and friendly staff - Edit
A few choices here to have a vegan option which makes life easy given there are very few places here with a vegan choice.

great staff and some great veg options - Edit
The chef recently left and the waitresses have taken over the kitchen. One of them is vegetarian and added more veggie options to the menu. The roasted pumpkin toastie is one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten. The kimchi rostie also great, as are the Mexican fries.

not great for vegans - Edit
Nice place and friendly staff but I wouldn't recommend this place to vegans at all. Staff were willing to alter dishes which was nice but only real option would have been little more than a green salad. Looked like there was a couple of great options for vegos though! They have good looking coffees and soy and almond milk available but both incur extra cost (¥250 for almond milk seems a bit steep!)
