We had a very good Sunday lunch here: vegan mezze with tasty homemade baba ganoush and hummus (and cheeze), followed by tofu curry and tomato cheezy gnocchi.
Read moreMy only peeve was that the curry was served in a separate bowl to the dish of rice - a bit fiddly as there was no spoon.
There were even puds that weren’t sorbet *gasp*.
Chocolate torte and affogato with coconut ice cream.
Food was clearly made with care and thought.
The pub is also close to two beauty spots, which are great for walking: St Martha’s Hill and Newlands Corner.
Pros: Good, tasty vegan options, Friendly, helpful waiter, Cosy setting
Cons: Ladies’ loos could have been nicer, Separate bowl for curry served on dish of rice

Had the vegetable meze (veganised 😁) to start. Great platter and one of the best babaganosh I've had.. As long as you like garlic! Be warned ..

The menu provides lots of vegan adaptations. I had the mushroom burger (vegan option?) which they explained didn't come in the bun as it contained egg so instead I had it on a pitta with both a side salad and chips. They used vegan cheese too. I can highly recommend it!

Great if you are the only vegan - Edit
I’ve been here a couple of times now, once with my boyfriend and with my family also - both of which are meat eaters. This is a nice restaurant to kind of meet in the middle. It has obviously good options for meat eaters and also a vegan menu. The soup is always amazing and fresh and I can also vouch for the gnocchi. Not many places like this can cater specifically for meat heads but also for us!! And they have vegan cheese!

Best vegan pub food! - Edit
This restaurant was such a lovely surprise for a vegan. There were plenty of vegan choices as well as ones that could be adapted to vegan which the waiters happily explain how. I went with my family and had the smoked tofu stir fry which had amazing flavour and was full of fresh veggies. The service was amazing, the waiters were friendly and helpful but still very professional. You can tell it is a popular restaurant from how busy it was and although we waited awhile for food it was a pleasant wait as the staff were so attentive and the restaurant was lovely. We were so pleased with the service that we came back the following evening. This time I had the vegan mushroom and polenta starter and the mushroom stack burger with sweet potato fries. Another yummy dish, the mushrooms were topped with vegan mozzarella on a lovely assorted salad. The portion was very generous too! The owner of the restaurant was so lovely and printed out the list of vegan wines as well as creating a vegan dessert of fresh fruit and sorbet which wasn’t on the menu. They seemed interested in feedback and improving which was really nice to see. Overall I was so happy to find such a vegan friendly pub with amazing service, great food and a lovely ambience!
