Fast & Friendly Service - Edit
Looking at previous reviews, it seems this place has improved a lot in the past couple of years!
Read moreI've been several times and the staff have always been very helpful with discussing the vegan options. Service is pretty quick too.
They now have a separate vegan menu, which is great and has several vegan starters, curries, stir-fries, noodles and salads. They also do a great value lunch deal with an option for vegan spring rolls, curry & rice.
Prices are very reasonable and the food is fresh and tasty!
Pros: Cheap prices, Separate vegan menu, Good lunch deal
Cons: Communal seating (when busy)

OK - Edit
Limited vegan options- however the staff have limited knowledge of what is vegan on the menu. The veg spring rolls were very flourey and dusty...

Absolutely atrocious - Edit
So we went to the pepper tree as it was late and there weren’t many alternatives. I’d read on here they did some vegan food and true enough they do. I ate probably the same as every other vegan that’s ever gone in there: dim sum, vegetable stir fry and coconut rice. It was ok, not amazing but ok.
Read moreI fancied something sweet and I remembered a review on here that said the coconut rice and mango sorbet was vegan. I asked the waitress and she went away to check and confirmed it was. She also mentioned the bean cake but I stuck with the rice. Desert came and I didn’t think anything of it and tried the ‘rice’ which turned out to be a burnt bean cake. Then I tried the sorbet which turned out to be diary ice cream!!!
I complained but I really don’t think they thought it was a big deal!
I recommend that you avoid this place at all costs.
Pros: One or two vegan options
Cons: Gave me diary ice cream!!!!!!

disappointing - Edit
Limited vegan and vegetarian options. I could only have the one vegan option which was the stir-fry, and it was probably the one of the worst stir-fries I've ever had. Bland, partly over cooked, tofu hasn't any favours...... Really lazy cooking. The staff all seemed really stressed and not particularly friendly. It came to £20 per head for a starter (over steamed and falling apart dumplings), main and drink. Not particularly expensive but for table sharing and poor quality food, it wasn't worth it. I will not be going again.
Read morePros: does mention that all curries have fish sauce.
Cons: bad vegan food with no options.

Tasty Food, But Be Careful... - Edit
Went to the Pepper Tree on a Sunday afternoon. It's located right by Clapham Common tube station, facing the main road.
Read moreThe menu isn't great for vegans; just a couple of dishes marked as such. More disappointingly, the waitress said that other dishes were 'vegetarian' as they only contained fish sauce. To be fair the menu does state that all dishes except the vegan ones contain fish sauce.
I wanted to try a curry, but had to go for the vegetable stir fry which was tasty.
Not bad if you don't mind the limited choice.
Pros: Tasty food, Convenient location
Cons: Lack of vegan & veggie choice, Staff didn't understand vegan/veggie

Amazing!! - Edit
Just sat down and the guy who works there came and ran me through everything that was vegan. So nice of him!! Had the vegetable dim sum and vegetable pad Thai. All vegan. Such good food and quick service.

Excellent Tasty food - Edit
The staff were lovely and friendly. It was advertised as doing all day breakfasts at weekends but this wasn't offered. I had difficulty choosing food because there were nuts in all the vegetarian options except for one. However I had that one (coconut red curry) and it was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was relaxed and there was no rush.
Read morePros: Cheap
Cons: Only one nut free vegetarian option.
