Nice food and ambience - Edit
Plenty of vegan and vegetarian options on the menu. Food was tasty if a little overpriced. Cosy atmosphere and comfortable seating. Miso mushroom kebab on a pita bread had delicious flavouring although possibly a little too much sauce.

Incredible scrambled tofu - Edit
Wow the scrambled tofu was rather insane!! Very crispy and very well flavoured, and sat on a beautiful piece of bread/toast. I find that it’s quite rare that non-veg places do scrambled tofu (they usually opt for falafel or fake meat)so I was really happy to see it on the menu. Lots of vegan options here!!
Read moreI would say that the portion size was quite small, I felt satisfied at the end though but yep others may not with just one piece of bread.
I also ordered a decaf soy latte and wasn’t charged for the soy milk or the fact that it was decaf so I loved that too!
Pros: Not charged for alt milk, Finally a scrambled tofu!!, Beautiful interior! Super cosy!
Cons: Small-ish portions

Some Really Great Vegan Options - Edit
Overall we had a great dinner at The Old Bicycle Shop. We started with the focaccia and hummus which was so delicious, I highly recommend. The pea and shallot tortellini (it was actually ravioli) was good, the sauce was filled with veggies and really flavorful but the pasta itself was a bit tough and I couldn’t really taste the filling. We also ordered the falafel wrap which was absolutely excellent, definitely worth getting! The eton mess dessert was only okay. There was barely any merengue which was quite disappointing.

Small portions - Edit
I don’t really like writing bad reviews but I was disappointed with what I was served. I had the avocado toast and it consisted of one thin piece of sourdough with avocado on top for £9.50.
Read moreThe toast was cold and difficult to cut through. On the plus side the oat cappuccino was hot and tasty but overall it wasn’t worth the money

Incredible food and service! - Edit
Probably my favourite breakfast/brunch place in Cam! Always reliably tasty with lots of vegan & GF options. Soup of the day is always vegan with choice of GF bread. Fantastic coffee and loose-leaf tea. Beautiful cafe and very atmospheric! I always bring visiting omni family/friends here. Lovely staff, too - extremely attentive, flexible with allergens, table bookings and always go the extra mile.
Read moreI find some of the negative reviews on here very confusing as I visit semi-regularly at different times of the day/week/year and never once had anything other than a wonderful experience… I personally don’t think they’re representative and would recommend checking the Old Bicycle Shop out for yourself to make up your own mind!

Tiny and Overpriced Breakfast - Edit
I would not recommend this place for breakfast to anyone. I ordered the Plant Based Yogurt with Berries, Nuts and Seeds but it was so bad. It was a tiny pot of basically just yogurt and fruit compote with a few seeds. It was £6.50 too which is so overpriced. My mum ordered the avocado on toast and she said it was ok but the bread wasn’t even toasted and was very thin and the avocado just tasted of lemon and again, the portion was so small. Some peoples food around us looked nice and more worth the money but what we ordered was awful. We spent £25 on breakfast that left me still feeling hungry. It’s a shame because the cafe/restaurant inside is very rustic but the food is so basic and just not worth it. I won’t be returning here.

Not worth the money - Edit
The food all sounds very good on the menu, but it was all lacking in reality. The quinoa salad had no flavour whatsoever (although the tomatoes were good) and the gnocchi with bak choi had a total of 1/2 a baby bak choi. We were looking forward to dessert but decided against it after the mains. The service was perfectly lovely, but there seemed to be one waitress taking orders and payments for the whole restaurant

Great brunch - Edit
Really good selection of vegan dishes on brunch menu and all clearly labelled, and small adjustments to printed menu were explained to us when we were seated. So the peach pancakes were pear instead (which I think was even better!) Very impressed by food service especially as it was busier for bank holiday weekend.

Good Vegan Brunch Options - Edit
The Old Bicycle Shop is an old bicycle store converted into a restaurant. We attended for brunch and were faced with a variety of vegan options including “yogurt”with fruit, various fancy pancakes, avocado toast, and a vegan breakfast plate. I opted for the latter, which included scrambled tofu, miso eggplant, smoky bean stew, avocado, a roasted tomato, and sourdough. All the components were very flavorful with the most impressive being the eggplant, the chili-like bean stew, and the tofu scramble which had a hint of mustard.

really poor food - Edit
such a shame - when I first visited two years ago food was fantastic and huge range of vegan options. Still good range, but since covid have changed menu substantially. food sounds fab but very poorly prepared… ordered pancakes which arrived within 5 mins and were nearly cold - had clearly just been reheated and served in haste. Coffee also not great… far better brunch places elsewhere in cambridge

Really great food and service. Lots of plant based options and the restaurant has a really cosy, welcoming and bustling feel to is. I ordered some pasta which unfortunately was a very small portion but the flavours were amazing. Would definitely still recommend and visit again.

Lots of plant-based choices for brunch. The pancakes were great, the tofu scramble could have had a bit more flavour but pretty good too. Good service and setting. Would happily eat there again.

Lovely restaurant with good vegan options. The cocktails and desserts are particularly good. They use aqua faba to create foam on their whisky sour which was a real treat.

I had the mushroom ramen, which was great. Lots of different mushrooms I had never tried before. The vegan pavlova is also impressive. The atmosphere is very good as well, but overall was kind of expensive for the amount of food you get.

Old Bicycle Shop - Edit
Old Bicycle Shop seemed like an interesting breakfast choice but after sitting there for one hour after ordering and being lied to about the status of our order (in a half occupied restaurant), we had to throw the towel in. They have a cute conservatory seating area...the food I saw on people’s plates looked OK, not amazing. Overall, I’d suggest they work on getting their kitchen in order and level setting with customers.

Good Veg and Vegan International and Fusion Food options! - Edit
✓ Vegan and Vegetarian Options
Read moreWHAT I HAD: Posh Kebab of Jerk Jackfruit and coriander and ginger slaw topped with coconut and mango raita (Vegan) [£12.50]; Sweet potato pancakes, dried apricot, coconut yoghurt, oat crumble and banana powder (Vegan) [£7.00]; Smashed avocado, toasted sourdough, chili, lime & tomato salsa, watercress, almond dukkha (Vegetarian) [£8.50] (extra 1.00 for poached egg)
A place that offers international food, mix of cuisines and some fusion. Prices are in the range of high street food prices. The food portions are quite generous with the use of good and quality ingredients with is well worth the price you pay for. They do offer several inspiring vegan options too. A while back, I had the vegan jerk jackfruit kebab which was just hearty, refreshing and delicious with a great mix of textures, flavours and fresh ingredients. I was quite disappointed with my visit for brunch, the vegan sweet potato pancake was stodgy, dry and heavy especially with the dried apricot and oat, the yoghurt didn’t help. The avocado toast was average with the lacklustre sourdough bread.
Staff is really friendly and attentive! Absolutely great service even when they were swamped and low on staff. I love the rustic décor that gives a charming and casual ambience. The outdoor seating is lovely as well during the summer. The Old Bicycle Shop is quite a hit and miss with their dishes, still I would return for a satisfying and flavourful lunch or dinner (over breakfast or brunch) that is inspired by different cuisines, and the great service.
Pros: Good Vegan Options, Charming and Rustic Decor, Great Customer Service
Cons: Food are a hit or miss, Not the cheapest
