Serves meat, vegan options available. Hotel and restaurant open to non-residents. Can make vegan dishes on request such as a curry, stir-fry and a cooked breakfast.
Not as catered for as the previous review suggests. They can make you a meal based on what's on the menu. I ordered a breakfast which was just tomato, mushrooms, potato bread and beans, which was meager, so I added a side of chips. They have no meat, dairy or milk alternatives available.
I contacted this establishment about vegan options. The owner said he was very happy to make lots of vegan things as they have some vegan regulars. He said that they keep some tofu and fake meat products etc. I have eaten here twice. The first time I had a delicious and very reasonably priced cooked breakfast. The second time was for lunch. I ordered a stuffed pepper but the peppers had all been chopped up so it was a savoury vegetable rice dish, it was nice enough. My other half had a curry which he enjoyed. Nice to know that there is somewhere with accommodation that vegans can be catered for in Portaferry. It is in a lovely setting looking out over strangford lough - with the ferry going back and forth, very relaxing!
