Awesome market

Lots of vegan options! Specialty spreads, faux meats, juices, ice cream, anything vegan you need - you’ll find here

Lots of vegan options

They have lots of different vegan cheeses and lots of frozen vegan meals like mozzarella sticks and vegan baked lasagnas. They also have vegan pate, cream cheese and vegan queso.

Great Store with Local and Unique Offerings

This is a great store located in downtown. Has a lot of local, island and BC products to choose from. Lots of vegan market goods (e.g., beyond products, tempeh) and good produce.

Pros: Lots of vegan milks and cheeses, Always a few in-house baked options, Lots of frozen vegan dinners, burgers etc

Cons: Can be a bit expensive but sales can be good.

Unexpected grocery store!

I was reccommended this store by a receptionist in my hostel (both the store and the hostel were on Yates St., so a very convenient location). I did not expect much from this conventionally-looking supermarket, but was totally amazed! Specially by their great selection of vegan cheese of all kinds. They have anything you might think of as a vegan. The few kinds of vegan muffins (I tried the raisin one) were just a cherry on top.

Pros: Central location, Ok prices, Selection of vegan baked good, specially muffins

Very Local Village Grocer

The Market Stores is locally-owned & family operated. They have 2 outlets, at Yates & at Millsteam. The Millstream location is at Millstream Village in Langford.

The store carries a wide selection of local produce. I like their variety of vegan & organic products too. Although their store is not as large as the big chain grocery stores out there, they have a decent selection of international products for Asian cooking. They also usually have some vegan baked treats at the deli section, so keep a lookout if you go by the store!

Although this store is at a nice location & has a nice vibe, I don't shop there much because Langford has so many other grocery stores. Before I get to The Market Stores, I'm likely to have already been done with my shopping. It is nice to have them in the neighbourhood though.

Pros: many local products, many organic & environmentally-friendly products, vegan baked goods

Cons: can be pricey - so check the flyers & compare!, small when compared to other grocery stores, more vegan baked treats please! :)
