Fantastic food, minimal vegan options - Edit
I went to this place because of the raving reviews on here, however although the setting was beautiful, chilled vibes with the music and staff for absolutely fantastic, there was only one main course vegan option on the menu, plus 2 starters (one being bread). That's not what I had expected... the food that I had was so fresh and tasty... just would want to see more options!

Cute Café - Edit
Food came quickly. Cashew ice latte was delicious but rather small for 700. Nice staff. But pricey - European prices.

Nice coffee / Accept cards / Small menu - Edit
They serve good coffee and tasty smoothie bowl though the options are very limited. They also add 3% if you pay by card. I just think this is the cost the business owner should be paying by himself and not making customers bear this cost. But still it’s better than not accepting cards at all.

Delicious Food. Beautiful Garden Setting. Focus on Sustainability. - Edit
The Kip is a fairly new restaurant in Ahangama (opened 5 months ago), but it has already made a large impact on the local food scene. We had heard from 2 other people that we had to eat here and it was easy to see why. Set in a beautiful outdoor garden, surrounded by lush green plants and tiki torches (at night), the ambiance at The Kip is unrivalled by any other restaurant we went to on the southern coast of Sri Lanka. This is a great place for date night, treating a spouse/partner, or celebrating with friends/family.
Read moreThe food is fantastic. Most of it is grown in their backyard garden and anything they can’t grow themselves, they source from the local community.
For drinks, we ordered a ginger mint iced tea and an elderflower spritz mocktail, both of which were very refreshing!
The dinner menu seems to be Italian-inspired and simple, with antipasti, pastas, and desserts. For dinner, we shared the gotu-kola leaves and cabbage salad (with raisins, walnuts, nutritional yeast and coconut vinegar), which was very tasty. There was one other antipasti which could be made vegan (roasted beetroot and carrots). For pasta, we each had the pink ravioli filled with a roast cauliflower and broccoli puree, served on top of a vegan cheese sauce. It was perhaps the best pasta we have ever tasted. Both dessert options were vegan - one was homemade cashew lavender ice cream with two homemade shortbread cookies and the second one was a dulce de leche cake served with ice cream. Both were fantastic!
We also went to The Kip for brunch and were equally impressed. Brunch is in the form of a “make your own tapas board”, where you can choose 3 or 5 tapas items (and add extra ones if you’re hungry). We had the charcoal bun with sesame seed crusted grilled tofu; potato hash with confit tomatoes, charred leeks, and vegan mayo; the pumpkin hummus; golden overnight oats with fresh fruit; the raw breakfast cake; and chia pudding with coconut milk. All were amazing and we would return in a heartbeat to eat this food again!
It also operates a BnB on the premises, which looked beautiful.
Pros: Delicious, locally-sources food. , Focus on sustainability and animal welfare
