Comforting Comfort Food - Edit
The food here is pretty amazing. Hadn't eaten all day and brought our hunger with us. This really hit the spot. The service was pretty good too. When I was struggling between multiple options, they helped me narrow it down. I had the Hive Bowl, my husband the Baja Salad then split an order of onion rings. Hubs Baja salad was fresh and filling for a salad. My bowl was amazing with the mashed taters, gravy, Gardeins and the veggies that still had a bit of a crunch. The onion rings were really great, too - not many places vegans can get onion rings! Can't wait to come back into town to try more stuff. Yum!

Went with a friend and we both ordered an appetizer and an entree. Needless to say we devoured the delicious appetizers and were so stuffed that we had to get "to go" plates for our entrees. We're definitely wanting to go again. Real delicious comfort food. So glad we discovered this place.

Worst experience in Houston - Edit
I wanted to surprise my family bringing them here and it was the worst experience we’ve ever had in terms of service and disrespect towards the clientele. When we arrived they said we had to wait 40 minutes and we had to wait almost 2 hours. After that, they told us “you need to go” because of their incapability to handle the amount of orders. The cashier literally muttered under his breath to our face “It was only one hour”.

Vegan Comfort Food - Edit
This is easily one of my favorite vegan restaurants in Houston. Mostly comfort food but across a spectrum from Mac n cheese to gumbo to spaghetti to burgers. Always tasty. Interesting that one of my favorite things there is the side of spicy cabbage. Do yourself a favor and make it there. This is a place of indulgences!

We had an amazing meal- will definitely become regulars. Well executed dishes with a variety of flavor profiles. Elevated comfort foods and top notch deserts. Knowledgeable and thoughtful staff and owner. Entire menu nut free. I have eaten so many vegan Mac and cheese a ross the world and this the best I have ever had.

Some of the best vegan food I've had - Edit
I wanted to cry from how good my food was. I got the Poboy and fried oreos and I cannot hype this up enough. Even my non vegan fiance gets hyped when I order from this place (it's the only place he'll try vegan food from so far). While it is expensive, the portions size does not disappoint so it's well worth it. There are so many options for food as well it's amazing. Again I cannot hype or recommend this place enough just go there.

Great variety of comfort foods! I don't enjoy the odd creations of some vegan places. Very nice staff, was offered a free water when I realized I forgot with my order and chef checked on us. Unfortunately, we weren't expecting the chef, caught us off gaurd, and we all just said the food was great, instead of giving some constructive feedback. Overall the food was tasty, but the more u ate the more the salt got to you. Mac and cheese was surprisingly good, if u miss cheese, and really liked the mushroom gravy in the hive bowl. Mash potatoes also good, though I was told the green beans were a little stringy. Overall I would go again if it were closer, but not good enough to make an hour trip.

I was so excited to find this vegan restaurant near my hotel(Hilton Garden) that we walked a mile to get there. Counter person was friendly, menu was great. We ordered the rice balls and they were good, especially the sauce. The etouffe was very salty and the fried oyster mushrooms too. So salty, I couldn’t finish. Easy fix. Talk to your day cook and kill the salt and I’ll. One back

Houston We Have A Winner! - Edit
Delightfully delicious food! Fresh, well seasoned, cooked to perfection. I had called in my order to go. Traffic was light, so I had time to eat on the cute outdoor patio. It's on the east side of the restaurant, which faces south, with shade from the building itself allowing for pleasant outdoor afternoon dining even in 96 degree heat. Wanted to sit outside; Covid is still with us.
Read moreOyster mushroom etoufee was mildly spiced, quite tasty though I usually prefer it teary eyed hotly spiced; this was good over a bed of dirty rice accented with finely chopped fresh veggies. I saved to eat later the lightly battered fried mushrooms served to top the dish. Even cold, they made good finger food, crisp & not greasy 4 hours later.
Well done without being soggy, the spicy cabbage was good, too. I'm a native southerner, and my black eyed peas standards are very high: preferably fresh, not canned or frozen,. spicy, well done without being too soft. These made the grade & extra credit for the bed of dirty rice.
Creamy, smooth sauced mac & cheese personified comfort food.
It's peach season, and the fresh peaches in the pie/cobbler put them to delicious use.
Small. There is some indoor seating in addition to the outdoor patio. Tables seating 2 or 4, or push tables together for lar groups. Upstairs balcony area still being renovated; will add to the space & ambiance when completed.
End cap in a strip center shopping mall. Free parking.

Horrific service - Edit
Went to The Hive for the first time tonight (3 of us). I hope it was a one off experience, but this was the worst service I have ever received. Arrived, cleared our own table to sit down inside. Ordered at the counter. Took 45 minutes to receive glasses of water - and that was only after one of us got up to ask for a drink (it’s 100 degrees outside & warm inside the restaurant too - we were thirsty). Food arrived 1 hour after ordering. No one came to our table except to deliver the water prior to that to apologize for the delay, no one came to our table after the food arrived to see if we needed more water or if the food was ok. It was an awful experience. A family arrived at 730pm (place closes at 8pm) and were turned away. The food was good - we all enjoyed it, but the service was beyond horrific. Always want to support vegan establishments & this one was a 40 minute drive for me. Not sure I’ll return. — at the hive vegan eatery.

My son and I ate at The Hive for the first time yesterday. We absolutely loved our food-we finished everything! He ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich and we added on the onion rings (for $2 why not??). I got the mushroom stir-fry and we also ordered a side of the mac & cheese. The onion rings were so good-next time we’re getting a full order! We wanted to try the fried Oreos, but were too full-we’ll have to save room on our next visit.😄

Located on the end of a strip center about 30 minutes from anywhere I normally go, this place is a little treasurer trove vegan comfort food. Their menu is filled with fried foods and faux meats, the etouffee had a few fried oyster mushrooms, a large scoop of a rather deligtful cross between cornbread and dirty rice. This was in the middle of a spicy, salty roux that was astonishing authentic.
Read moreThe tofu mushroom lettuce wraps were also tasty and surprisingly good. It took about 45 minutes for them to get the order out on a day when there were very few other customers. The sweet potatoe fries were not hot, but mildly soggy. We didn't finish them, and I always finish my fries.
We didn't try the fried oreos, but the fact that they are on the menu gives you an idea of what this place is about.

It was alright. The staff and owner we met were very friendly. The food was just alright. It got to us before our lemonade did. They apologized. Lemonade was regular. Food too. Buffalo sandwich was fine. Spicy! I’m weak though. Fries and onion rings tasted frozen. I could be wrong but mine didn’t look any thing like someone else’s picture. They were still ok.
