We had breakfast here and it was good, in a cosy and friendly atmosphere. I didn't expect much from the porridge, but it was just the right sweetness. A great start of the day!

I didn't get the friendly staff or atmosphere that has been reviewed. There are lots of vegan options, I had the tofu ciabatta that was fine. I was unfortunately expecting a lot more from the reviews so this maybe led to the disappointment.

Read moreWhat might need to be noted is that they do use "vegan substitutes" to create classical dishes e.g. "Salami"sandwich or for German breakfast with "cheese" and "sausage style ham/Wurstaufschnitt".

Die Portionen sind relativ groß, geschmacklich war alles sehr lecker. Vor- und Hauptspeisen kamen alle gleichzeitig, weshalb es am Tisch etwas eng wurde. Das Personal ist aber sehr freundlich & zuvorkommend. Eine Vitrine mit diversen Kuchen lädt zum Dessert ein - der rote Cashew-Rohkostkuchen ist sehr zu empfehlen.

The food was fresh and delicious. We loved the potato goulash (daily special) and vegetable quiche! The Heart of Joy sandwich was unimpressive and felt like something we could easily make at home with Tofurky ham slices. They have an English menu available and English speaking staff. Really kind and friendly waitress. They do accept credit cards now.

Yet another place run by a religious org - Edit
The food was ok (few vegan, but decent options for breakfast), and the place itself is actually pretty nice if you don't mind the statues, portraits etc of the leader (Sri Chinmoy) of this religious organisation running it. I must admit stuff like this irritates me.

Went here for a good vegetarian breakfast but somehow the place felt weird and unhygienic. Fruit wasn’t fresh and the toast wasn’t enough so went to a bakery afterwards for a good breakfast ..

Had the vegan green curry and vegan lentil soup, with coconut water and the austrian herbal drink Peda Cola. It was really good! Vegan and vegetarian menu. Friendly staff. Lots of seating inside and outdoors. Recommend!

A wonderful vegetarian/vegan restaurant in the heart of Salzburg, near the Mirabell gardens. Brilliant menu of fresh salads, soups, quiche, breakfasts and cakes. Have been 3 times this trip and thoroughly recommend!

We found this right by our hotel and decided to give it a try. We did the Vegan breakfast plate, it came with delicious coffee and an interesting variety of fruits, breads, and some porridge. My wife loved the porridge and I loved the variety of breads and fruit. The vegan butter was incredible. I also ordered a chocolate muffin and it was insane, definitely my favorite item but I have a big sweet tooth.

This place is so good. We had the soups - the lentil was incredible, and the veggie soup was creamy and delicious. Salads were so fresh and tasty, and the sandwich was great. Loved everything. It’s a small place but if you are looking for great vegan options this is the spot.

Vegane Gerichte sind deutlich gekennzeichnet, und es gibt eine Auswahl an verschiedenen veganen Kuchensorten. Die Bestellung wurde schnell aufgenommen und serviert. Allerdings wurden uns auch die Speisen vom Nachbartisch serviert, und am Ende wurde unsere Rechnung mit der des Nachbartischs verwechselt, was zu einigen Verwirrungen führte. Außerdem mussten wir lange auf die Möglichkeit zum Bezahlen warten. Trotzdem war der Kuchen lecker und der Kaffee gut!

Read moreI really like the curry, dhal, salads and soups, as well as all the daily specials. They have great sweet treats also - eg chocolate brownie, cookies and a range of home-made style cakes. They seem to use very good ingredients and they have options for people with food allergies. The coffees look great (I don't actually drink coffee). I have really appreciated the hot chocolate and hot lemon drink during winter.
If you don't happen to like some food or drink that you buy there, you can let them know and they will give you something else until you are happy. I think this is a great policy because you really can't lose.
The ambience is just wonderful - so inspiring and beautiful. I have bought some of their spiritual poetry books and referring to these books every now and again has really helped me deal with some problems in my life.
The workers are all super helpful, friendly and kind in my experience. I appreciate the table service.
I wholeheartedly recommend the Heart of Joy. Lunch times can become busy sometimes. They are also open up until the early evening if you prefer less risk of it having no tables left.
