Incredible Pizza! - Edit
First time visiting the Glad Cafe and I will be back many more times. Me and my friends got 3 different pizzas to share between us and they were all great!

Wonderful spot in South Glasgow - Edit
Great community cafe and bar which hosts events and has bohemian vibes. This place was founded by the parents of a friend of mine, and while the family no longer owns the cafe, it’s still run extremely well and has staff who has worked there for a long time. Highly recommended!

Keep coming back for the savoury french toast as it’s delicious. Cool spot for a drink in the evening also!

Expected a little more - Edit
I had heard great things about this cafe and with it being local to me I was really excited to try it.
Read moreMajority of the staff were very friendly aside from our main server who gave us the impression she just really did not want to be there.
Cooked breakfasts were a bit slow to come out but were nice, just the beans let them down with being so dry.
I'll definitely go again and hopefully have a better experience.
Their empire biscuit was really good!

Perfect - Edit
I can not rave about this place enough. Everything I have ever eaten there has been spot on, just really, really delicious food. Lots of choice, average prices for Shawlands, staff are friendly, dog friendly, boozy cocktails, 10 outta 10.

A great weekend brunch menu - Edit
I had the everything all at once brunch and it was absolutely incredible. The staff were all really sweet, and the space itself was cool. Overall, I’d really recommend the Glad Cafe!

Delicious food - Edit
The food felt wholesome and freshly prepared. Very delicious and a very nice selection. I hope it remains fully vegan as it used to smell very eggy, which is bad. But now it smells nice!

Great Find - Edit
Was going to Shawlands and found a recommendation for the Glad Cafe on the Glasgow City Vegan Facebook page so headed there for brunch/lunch. It was busy at 1pm which is to be expected so didn’t mind waiting for a table.
Read moreThe food and service were both excellent, it has a student vibe but us oldies felt comfortable. My partner had the full big breakfast which he said was delicious, special mention for the home made square sausage which was great. I had the savoury French toast with cheezy mushrooms which was really tasty. We were too full for anything else but for the unselfish purpose of research we squeezed in some coffee and cake 😛 If I’m ever out that way again I’ll definitely be back

Chilled meal - Edit
I didn't really feel like a burger or pizza so got the cheesy aubergine, and some chips and cheese to fill me up, and a beer. I do prefer their brunch menu dishes as there’s a bit more variety for my tastes, but was here this time for a weeknight dinner.
Read moreThey didn't have the desserts from the menu available, but they did have several cakes, so my companion got a brownie and they were able to provide ice cream and sauce with it. Service was great. Gave it an aspirational 5 stars, next time I'm going for lunch!

A cosy and creative setting for a good feed - Edit
First time eating here and it was the perfect way to end a 2 day camping trip, we had the breakfast focaccia and the mushroom ramen.
Read moreI highly recommend both options, the focaccia was incredible combined with the vegan cheese and mushrooms and the soup the ramen came in was so flavourful and warming.
We will definitely be back for food and events now that we have discovered this wonderful space!

Lunch review - Edit
There are a few vegan options here, amongst the abundance of eggs! The full breakfast is good, but I decided to try the fried tofu/black pepper sauce baguette this time. Disappointing. I think the flavour and saltiness would be overpowering for most people - so heavy on the sauce that it felt like a chore to eat. I’ve felt this a few times here, with both the lunch and evening menu. The seaweed fries are always a treat though! And the service is guaranteed to be friendly and laidback while still efficient.
Read moreA few more vegan cake options would be a great addition, and an easy adjustment to make.
Pros: Pleasant atmosphere. , Enough vegan options for mains., Good service.
Cons: Not enough vegan sweet options. , Some overpowering dishes.

Great timing - Edit
Always bars to judge a book by its cover.
Read moreThe Hug & Pint are presently doing the evening menu at Glad.
Love the Korean slant on food so hard to go wrong.
It's an odd one as the food changes all the time an the lunchtime menu is really egg central, but veggie. Night time as this present moment is 100% vegan. Yum.
Pros: Tasty

Nice food, but cakes are too sweet - Edit
I really like the atmosphere at the Glad cafe and the kimchi pancakes tasted really nice (and were not too expensive given the portion size).
Read moreI also had some coffee and cake and the coffee was just of a very average quality and the cake was overly sweet and filling.
Pros: Nice food, Host for interesting concerts / events
Cons: Not so nice coffee and cake
