Dreadful - Edit
Happy Cow really need to amend the rating system in order to allow poor vegan establishments to be given a one-star rating. Places can be so bad that they give veganism a bad name.
Read moreWhatever you may think of the Glad Cafe location, atmosphere, clientelle, and their entertainment events., food is the main reason for adding a Happy Cow review, and sad to say, what we received was the worst food I have ever been served in a vegan or vegetarian establishment.
I would have complained but for the fact that the waitress was charming, allowed me to bring in my wee dog and she lowered the background music when she noticed me looking for a quiet seat.
But if you want tasty wholesome food, I recommend you to look elsewhere.

I can't believe I've never stuck a review on for the glad cafe. It's a fantastic place with a full vegan menu. The staff are great and they have great gigs and a nice wee venue. Good choice or drinks and quite a varied menu.

Great spot in the southside - Edit
Had food at the venue before a gig.
Read moreThe menu was great, lots of choices!
Had the chicken burger with chips and the fried pickles.
The burger and chips were great.
Fried pickles were a bit disappointing. I prefer them in slices and crunchy but they were a bit soggy.
I would definitely come back again to try their other options.
I would also want to try their breakfast!

Glad I Got To Go Twice - Edit
I actually performed at Glad Cafe in December & forgot to review it, we had pizzas as that was all they were serving. So last night I was there to see the incredible Fyfe Dangerfield & got to eat before the show. I had the chicken burger with chips & my mate had the Dirty Mac. My burger was really tasty & dressed so that everything worked together, the chips were plentiful & well cooked. My pal's mac n cheese was great with bitsof bacon & onion. Would definitely go back.

Delicious all vegan brunch - Edit
Such a wonderful lively cafe! The “everything all at once” is the perfect choice. A plate full of deliciousness! The cafe is 100% plant based! It’s only about 45 min from the airport in Edinburgh! Great place to stop and get brunch after a long flight!

Wonderful spot in South Glasgow - Edit
Great community cafe and bar which hosts events and has bohemian vibes. This place was founded by the parents of a friend of mine, and while the family no longer owns the cafe, it’s still run extremely well and has staff who has worked there for a long time. Highly recommended!

Expected a little more - Edit
I had heard great things about this cafe and with it being local to me I was really excited to try it.
Read moreMajority of the staff were very friendly aside from our main server who gave us the impression she just really did not want to be there.
Cooked breakfasts were a bit slow to come out but were nice, just the beans let them down with being so dry.
I'll definitely go again and hopefully have a better experience.
Their empire biscuit was really good!

I can not rave about this place enough. Everything I have ever eaten there has been spot on, just really, really delicious food. Lots of choice, average prices for Shawlands, staff are friendly, dog friendly, boozy cocktails, 10 outta 10.

Delicious food - Edit
The food felt wholesome and freshly prepared. Very delicious and a very nice selection. I hope it remains fully vegan as it used to smell very eggy, which is bad. But now it smells nice!

Great Find - Edit
Was going to Shawlands and found a recommendation for the Glad Cafe on the Glasgow City Vegan Facebook page so headed there for brunch/lunch. It was busy at 1pm which is to be expected so didn’t mind waiting for a table.
Read moreThe food and service were both excellent, it has a student vibe but us oldies felt comfortable. My partner had the full big breakfast which he said was delicious, special mention for the home made square sausage which was great. I had the savoury French toast with cheezy mushrooms which was really tasty. We were too full for anything else but for the unselfish purpose of research we squeezed in some coffee and cake 😛 If I’m ever out that way again I’ll definitely be back

Chilled meal - Edit
I didn't really feel like a burger or pizza so got the cheesy aubergine, and some chips and cheese to fill me up, and a beer. I do prefer their brunch menu dishes as there’s a bit more variety for my tastes, but was here this time for a weeknight dinner.
Read moreThey didn't have the desserts from the menu available, but they did have several cakes, so my companion got a brownie and they were able to provide ice cream and sauce with it. Service was great. Gave it an aspirational 5 stars, next time I'm going for lunch!

First time eating here and it was the perfect way to end a 2 day camping trip, we had the breakfast focaccia and the mushroom ramen.
