Amazing! - Edit
The Floridian had it all- ambiance, flavor, fun cocktails. I enjoyed the Vegan Version of the Tuna Nicoise. It was fantastic. Full of flavor, I really wanted to lick the plate! 😋 Only bummer, there was no price drop for subbing tofu.

A really nice atmosphere with tons of locally sourced ingredients!! Lots of options for gluten free and vegan and very accommodating. I will most definitely be back. I had the Yuna Niscoise and switched it out for tofu and it was one of the best vegan dishes I've had in my life!

Amazingly fresh! - Edit
We had such an incredible meal today! The kids fried tofu was great, the Dixie burger (black bean and sweet potato) was INCREDIBLE and the chik pea curry soup was amazing. My meat eating family was very happy as well. Our waitress was very helpful and knowledgeable on vegan options. Can’t wait to go back

absolutely delicious! - Edit
The Floridian was incredible! My family and I stopped there for lunch today and were not disappointed. I got a glass of wine, a bowl of the soup of the day (it was a sweet potato soup with chickpeas and collard greens) and the spring salad with tempeh. The waitress was incredibly helpful with pointing out what was vegan and even giving me options! I will definitely come back here next year when my family returns to St. Augustine. They even had vegan desserts! :)

Fantastic food! - Edit
A couple friends recommended eating here and it's easy to see why; the food was truly delicious! The simple menu boasts recognizable favorites and some unique items, from apps to main dishes & an amazing dessert case. My blackened tofu melt was perfectly done and they have both meat dishes and meatless options. Bravo, Floridian!

Get the 'N Biscuits Vegan Style! - Edit
First off, they offered a vegan batter for the fried green tomatoes and fried pickles appetizer and preemptively placed the non-vegan dressings on side plate for my friends. The waitress said most vegans go straight for the veggie burger but that she recommended the 'N Biscuits made with tofu. I am so glad I did! It was delicious and unique. A fabulous sauce, the biscuits being replaced by a vegan bagette.

Awesome vegan fare! - Edit
I had the DIXIE BURGER which was very meaty and tasty, not to mention large and filling. My wife had the TUNA NICOISE done wth tofu (grilled - excellent) and my daughter had the TUNA NICOISE done with the tempe. he tempe is a bit salty, so be warned - the taste can wear on you after a while. The service was excellent and the friendly staff was very happy to explain the vegan options and meet our dietary needs, despite the busy Christmas rush of tourists. I give this restaurant five stars!

The waiter gave us the option to make the chicken and biscuits vegan and also the spicy melt. You can tell the food is made with care and plenty of flavor. The spiced vanilla cupcake was amazing.

Excellent Farm to Table Food - Edit
As a native St. Augustinian and vegan, I love the Floridian! The restaurant is Farm-to-Table, featuring fresh, seasonal dishes made with local ingredients (as much as possible). I do not understand these reviews that say there are limited to no vegan options--they must not have asked or looked hard. The Floridian has excellent salads, a black bean burger that can be veganized, and their seasonal sandwiches/dishes can usually be modified to accommodate vegans. Additionally, they almost always have a vegan soup du jour and multiple vegan options for dessert. I recommend their vegan cupcakes and fruit crisps! They also have an amazing selections of beer, wine, and handcrafted cocktails.

great food, great service - Edit
The waitress we had was great! She went section by section showing me what I️ could order that was vegan (and did the same for my GF friend, tough crowd lol). The food was amazing! I️ split the fried green tomatoes and soup as an app with a friend. The vegan sauce that came with the tomatoes was so flavorful- tangy with cumin. The tomatoes were cooked perfectly too. The soup was spicy but good, it would’ve been perfect with a slice of bread. The entree I️ ordered was supposed to be made with tuna (I️ don’t remember the exact name) but I️ got it with tempeh and it was so delicious. The sauce added a lot of flavor and was cooked perfectly. We didn’t stop there. For dessert vegans have too options: an apple pie or a zucchini cupcake- I️ went with the second. It had a delicious cream cheese like frosting on it. Overall, I️ highly recommend this place for vegans! They had plenty of options for vegans and graciously accommodated.

Worth the hype! - Edit
We were recommended this place by many non-vegetarians (and were a bit skeptical about our options as vegan/vegetarians), but it had an abundance of veg-friendly options on the menu! Tempeh/tofu options were included for the majority of main dishes, and our server was so accommodating to our dietary preferences. They even seated us after we came in just as the kitchen was planning to close, and the atmosphere was lovely outside! I'd recommend this restaurant to all. The veg dishes were outstanding.

good food, wish the menu indicated vegan options - Edit
It's hard to travel with young vegan children. I spend so much time on happy cow, Yelp and restaurant websites. My vegetarian sister loved this place and I saw it on this site. It's a great place for vegetarians and a decent place for vegans who like to ask questions. I am neither of those things. We were tired and hungry when we stopped in for lunch. I almost started crying when I looked at the menu until the waitress told me the veggie burger was vegan. It was homemade and delicious!! My 3 yr old wanted it too. She was able to eat half of it but didn't touch the salad it came with. My 5 yr old was super crabby so I got the homemade chip appetizer. I ordered her the fried tofu off the kids menu. It came with apples and corn bread. I didn't let her eat the cornbread as I'm sure it wasn't vegan. She devoured it. There were so many tofu/tempeh options but I had no clue if they were vegan and they all had non vegan sauces. A little green v on the menu and some vegan cheese/mayo would have gone a long way. Our lunch cost a fortune, too! The food was great, I just wish they were more accommodating to vegans.

What vegan options? - Edit
I was so confused when I went to the Floridian with my family, tonight. We're all vegan, so we chose this restaurant based on reviews. Google even listed it as "Vegan Restaurant."
Read moreWhen we got there, the only vegan appetizer was the fried pickles. I've had good fries pickles, but these were limp and soggy. We then searched the menu to find something we could eat. There was no mention of vegan options on the menu. The restaurant is decorated with taxidermy animals and alligator heads/skulls. 90% of the menu was meat. Most of the rest had cheese. We had to choose between asking the server if the veggie burger and bun were vegan and then ordering without mayo, or a Thai curry dish (unless it uses prepackaged Thai sauces, which often include fish oil). Since the restaurant was packed and was clearly more of a carnivorous type of place, we decided not to bother the staff. We left, and went to the Present Moment Cafe, where almost everything is vegan (including some amazing ice cream!)
This was a bit of a hassle, since I had my extremely hungry three and six year old kids with me, and my husband and I were trying to celebrate my mother-in-law's visit. Reviews mentioned tempeh and all sorts of other veggie foods. We saw none of that.
Pros: Nice area of town
Cons: Not vegan friendly, Decorated with dead animals, Serves mostly meat.

Mehh.... - Edit
I and my girl friend visited this place to grab a quick lunch. We ordered something called "chipwich". It was sort of a sandwich. It seemed that the chef just made it in a hurry. The salad was awful with stale veggies! Neither would I go there again nor would I recommend it to someone else based on this experience. The homemade potato chips were pretty nice though.

Best place for vegans/vegetarians/ in St Augustine - Edit
This restaurant was just awesome for us. Everything on the menu had a vegan/vegetarian option. Plus the selections were delicious. We always have a problem eating out because my husband is 90% vegan, my son is vegetarian and I am mostly vegan and gluten free - so to find a restaurant that accommodates all our needs is generally not easy but Floridian did that plus much more. They even had vegan, gluten free dessert too! I ate the Floridian salad with tempeh, my son ate the not-mac and cheese with tempeh and my husband ate a spicy melt with blackened tofu. Then we ordered a vegan, gluten free chocolate cake and carrot cake - everything was delicious and the service was excellent. I also tried their birch cola - interesting taste.

Ask for eggless fried green tomatoes - Edit
I went back and forth on what i should order and just made a split second decision when asked. It was one of those situations. Too many things sounded amazing. We also ordered a sampler plate with fried pickles, fried green tomatoes, and bread with spreads. When we got the appetizer, I asked if the pickles/tomatoes were made with eggs in the batter. The server said they could have been made that way, if I had asked for them that way, and I knew it was my mistake for not asking when we ordered. But when our food came, she brought a couple extra FGT slices made without eggs, no charge. I was very grateful and they were very good.
Read moreI had the veggie burger, which is handmade with black beans and sweet potatoes. It was delicious! I have to mention that if you are only familiar with Boca Burger/Morningstar Farms veggie patties, these are a little different. Handmade burgers aren't firm patties, they're more like falafel in texture perhaps. I like them better in fact. Just a warning. ALSO! let the FGT(fried green tomatoes) cool before you bite into them. The inside is hotter than the outside.
Pros: vegan FGT, tempeh, handmade veg burger
Cons: can't order drinks at yr table(?)

We went there twice for lunch and once for dinner - in a span of three days. Excellent service - always good to be recognized the second time! Good salads and really good vegetarian burger/sandwich options. Excellent fried green tomatoes. Not-so-Mac and cheese was so-so. Yummy apple pie! And a serious portion too! Outdoor seating is fun!

loved it - Edit
My husband and I visited recently, and got the Tofu N'Dumplings and the Tofu Floridian to share. I loved both, but my husband thought the N'Dumplings was like eating a big bowl of gravy and the Tofu Floridian was greasy... however he's from NY and I'm a multi-generation Florida native- if it's not a little greasy and covered in gravy, it's not worth eating! He did like it enough to go again, and plans to try either the Indialantic or the Banh-Mi Sandwich. I would get the Tofu Floridian again, or the Indialantic as well. The host and wait staff were very friendly and accommodating- no problems with our vegan requests, and the bartender was helpful and knowledgeable. (There are alcohol licensing issues which are strange but not a big deal- you can still enjoy beer or wine if you like.) I'll post again with reviews of our next meal here!

One of the best vegan meals I have ever had. - Edit
I went to The Floridian for dinner and ordered the tofu and dumplings. It is not a vegan dish, but it was easy enough for the kitchen staff to make it vegan for me, and it seemed like it was not an unusual request.
Read moreThe tofu and dumplings were served with a salad of mixed greens, and the server suggested a rich, vegan, curry-tasting dressing which I savored. The main dish was marinated tofu and small, doughy dumplings in a creamy sauce. The biscuits it usually comes with are not vegan, so I was given toasted baguette instead, and it was filling and great, and one of the best vegan dishes I have ever eaten that I have not cooked myself.
I could not finish my whole meal. There was a vegan chocolate mousse cupcake dessert option, but I did not order it.
Pros: Large portions, Delicious, Server happy to give vegan modifications
Cons: Not vegan, Not very healthy
