Interesting Ambience - Edit
There are vegan options and I probably should have gone with the tofu someone raved about on here. I tried the hummus appetizer which was decent (although with fresh tortilla-like chips) and the black bean with sweet potato burger (added roasted peppers (bun different than previous pictures). The peppers and spinach were good. Dressings tasty. However the burger was too mushy and fell apart. Still all edible I was just hoping for a dense black bean dominant burger, that was crispy. Service was good and everything clear.

Fried Green Tomatoes - Edit
They had vegan fried green tomatoes. I was hooked as soon as I saw that was an option. Food was delicious. The atmosphere is very nice. Knowledgeable server & willing to accommodate vegan. They had a nice selection of vegan dishes & even a vegan dessert. The vegan dessert was a citrus cake & it was amazing. Our server said the vegan desserts changes from time to time, too. I really love being able to enjoy a restaurant with vegan options already on the menu, clearly marked, and being able to just order without trying to make something work for me. This was a wonderful dining experience.

Lots of vegan options - Edit
Many things in the menu can be made vegan. They have two great vegan protein substitutions including tofu, and tempeh either blackened or marinated. They also have vegan dressings and sauces so those can all be subbed out. No vegan cheese sub so that’s a bit of a bummer. And they have a yummy vegan dessert - coconut citrus cake.

Cons: No sub for the cheese, Veggie burger good but mushie

Wonderful Dining Experience - Edit
We wish we could give this 5 stars. From the top-notch service to the delectable dishes, we absolutely loved the Floridian. I had the Steak Frites made vegan with some of the best tempeh I have ever tasted. My husband chose the Golden Curry over tempeh and it was possibly the tastiest curry I have tried. Our nephews aren’t vegan and they found plenty to keep them happy. Love this place. We will be back.

I loved the atmosphere. Server was very helpful in pointing out which options were vegan or could be made vegan. I tried the fried green tomatoes (good with an excellent garnish), the grain bowl (excellent) and the fried fingerling potatoes (good).

We go here every time we visit St Augustine! It is so delicious and fresh. This time I ordered the winter grain bowl..best bowl I ever had. Loved the lemon hummus. We always sit at the bar and the bartenders are so nice. It’s great to eat where we can take non vegan friends!

Chic tropical decor, genuine hospitality and options for herbivores and omnivores. The second floor (complete with a second bar and bathroom!) was perfect for our large party. My go to spot for dinner in old city St. Augustine.

Probably only good if you get a good server - Edit
While there are so many options that you can substitute tempeh or tofu with, nothing is specifically labeled vegan. Two vegans in our group. I asked if the tofu burrito can be made vegan and the server wasn't sure if it could (it was, just very bland and no flavor because all sauces were just left off). After I ordered my husband asked the server what options could be made vegan and his answer was the Veggie burger. While I'm sure that's not the case, our server was not interested in helping us figure it out

Great atmosphere, delicious hummus - Edit
I loved the food and atmosphere at The Floridian. We had the chips and dips, which was made with some of the best hummus I’ve had. The soup of the day is always vegan and gluten free, and we enjoyed a savory white bean and kale soup. This is a great place to eat while enjoying downtown St. Augustine.

Great place - Edit
This place is great for vegans and non vegans. The waitress was very knowledgeable about what was vegan and what can be made vegan. The Golden Curry was absolutely delicious with the tempeh. The tacos were great with tofu. The fried green tomatoes can be veganized and delicious. I will come back in a heart beat next time in town. They even charge LESS for vegan proteins than meat!

Great food and experience - Edit
Tons of vegan possibilities. The soup of the day was outstanding as were all the meals our party ordered. The server was great and very knowledgeable. Loved the ambiance. Will definitely be back next time I’m in town. There is a paid parking lot directly across from the entrance if you can get in there. It was pretty expensive to park there. You can pay by app or at the meter.

Plenty of Delicious Vegan Options - Edit
We went for lunch and started with the soup of the day, a kale white bean soup which the server informed us from the get-go that it was vegan. That thing was pure delicious spicy goodness so off to a good start.
Read moreFor a small-ish plate we had the chips and dips. The tortilla chips were so fresh and indulgent and don’t even get me started on the dips. The hummus was perfect but the black bean poblano dip took me by surprise how good it was.
For entrees it was very easy to veganize them as you can sub most of them with tofu/tempeh and also don’t have to take off half the toppings lol. I had the spicy melt with tofu and no cheese and it was super tasty on a fresh baguette. Only complaint is I would have preferred the tofu to have been crispier and not as soft.
Overall the place was great with a nice ambiance and the server was very friendly and knowledgeable.
Pros: Black bean poblano dip, Easily veganized menu without sacrificing taste, Knowledgeable staff

Fresh and delicious - Edit
Many options here! Tofu and tempeh are protein choices for many entrees. The use of fresh herbs in many dishes is a nice touch.
Read moreI ordered the grain bowl with marinated tofu. It was very tasty and fresh. (For the past month I have started eating mostly veg and don’t often eat tofu. This was some tasty tofu.) The tempeh tho - Edit
So when I first read the reviews for The Floridian, there was an overall pattern praise for the tempeh. I thought, “Not possible to prepare tempeh beyond “good”, but let’s find out.”
Read moreOk, it’s truly quite delicious. I swear they must marinate it for days or something as it’s uniquely flavorful. It’s not an afterthought “alternative” option. It’s a great one that anyone would be happy to have.
I had the Posole with the tempeh option (minus the chips). I do recommend.

Vegan? You should come here. - Edit
This restaurant has THE best implementation of Tempe I've EVER tried. In addition, the Staff was so helpful in explaining what on the menu could be had vegan, there was no need to constantly probe over all the dishes to find which was vegan and which weren't. The Nicoise and the Pozole with Tempe were just *chef's kiss*. They even have a vegan carrot cake that comes out warm and is honestly gustatory magic.

It's honestly a shame happy cow doesn't allow for a 5 star rating, because they honestly deserve it.

Unhelpful/rude waiter - Edit
The menu does not clearly show which dishes could be made vegan. I asked the waiter but he insisted that I read the menu. I responded that I had and it was not clear at all. He ended up being rude. I should have walked out. He was also unhelpful with the table next to me, who were vegetarians.

Best meal I had on my American trip - Edit
Got to say my experience of food out in the states has been pretty bad. Extremely limited vegan options and when they are there it’s usually beyond meat that’s not even cooked well or thought about.
Read moreThe food here was so fresh and seasoned perfectly, it was so nice to see somewhere that actually cared about vegan options!
Our server knew all the options on the menu and had tried all of them! She recommended the grain bowl to me, I got it with blackened tempeh which was so so good

The whole meal is a 5/5, would of eaten here everyday if I could

Great! - Edit
The food was delicious. I had the tomato veggie soup, golden curry tofu, and a vegan coconut cake with key lime frosting. Portions were large and all three things were amazing. It was so good that I finished everything on my plate even though I was super full. Worth it. Our server was a little lackluster and not very friendly but it looked like he was working a ton of tables at once and possibly was just overwhelmed. Definitely recommend eating here if you get a chance. Though I suggest making reservations. The place gets packed and wait times can exceed an hour.
