Serves meat, vegan options available. A wholefoods cafe in an old silk mill hidden away down a passageway in the town centre, since summer 2016. Much of the food and drink is vegan and largely organic, however new owners added meat and dairy to the menu Nov 2018. Range of loose leaf teas plus fair trade coffee with plant milk options. Original stone, brick and timber features and large wooden tables create a social atmosphere. Open Mon 10:30-15:30, Wed-Fri 10:30-15:30, Sat 10:00-16:30. Opens last Sunday of month 10am-3pm.

Good but expensive - Edit
Good in terms of them selling quite a lot of vegan things such as mezze, but quite expensive.

Edited review. - Edit
We’ve been here many times but only just got round to doing a review. We’re still a little stunned to find such an amazing vegan cafe right on our door step. We pretty much stopped eating out as we found it such a challenge to find cafes/restaurants with vegan options on their menu, so you can imagine our delight to find a fully vegan establishment in our home town. The button warehouse is a haven for those in and around the Macclesfield area, the food is always excellent and the staff are super friendly. They now have a bar and are open some evenings, check out their website for more info on events.
Read morePlease be aware this establishment is no longer fully vegan, absolutely gutted, there are plenty of cafes, restaurants in the area that cater for non vegans, it was nice to have a place we knew we could go to and be confident about the food and drink we ordered, and the kitchen it was prepared in. There are still vegan options on the menu......but the ethics of the place have gone.
Pros: Vegan options.
Cons: Meat in kitchen area.

Recent re-evaluation - Edit
We were disappointed to discover the change from vegan status. It was their first day of new management and the service dreadfully slow. No vegan spread to go with my bread and vegan soup (the supermarket didn’t have any, they told us). The ‘soup’ was minced mushroom (photo submitted) completely lacking in flavour. OK it was their first day but you’d have thought this, if ever, was the day to make a good impression. We won’t be going again.

Cosy café with great food - Edit
Fantastic selection of food and drinks (with five kinds of non-dairy milk!) I had waffles with banana and oat cream which were really tasty! It’s a lovely cafe, too, with a nice atmosphere and plenty of seating!

A great place to have in Macclesfield - Edit
I have only been here once so far but it was so lovely inside, the staff were great and it felt amazing knowing everything is vegan (something you wouldn't expect in Macc). The food was really tasty, I can't wait to go back and try more! The only thing for me was that it is mainly 'raw' food and I prefer fake meat and carbs.

Cons: All raw

Brilliant hidden gem!! Good food, drinks and atmosphere! - Edit
This is a brilliant hidden gem! I don't live in Macc anymore but came in here with my folks, who aren't vegan but loved it too, for lunch and I was so impressed with how tasty the food was. I had the Jackfruit sandwich on sourdough which comes with a really fresh salad and vegan coleslaw. I've been to quite a few vegan junk food places recently so it was nice to see this place has more of an emphasis on serving fresh, and healthy food!
Read moreLovely atmosphere, it's in an old mill that's been done up nice! It's a bit tucked away, down a little alley off Chestergate but well worth seeking it out. The menu is completely vegan which was a plus for me but I think the food would definitely still appeal to veggies and those looking to reduce their meat consumption. Alcohol served here as well! Keep up the good work Button Warehouse!! 👍🏻🙌🏻
Pros: Lots of vegan options, Fresh & Healthy , Good selection of hot and cold drinks.

Delicious and Healthy - Edit
The Button Warehouse was the first place I visited since transitioning to veganism, and what a way to start off my trail of seeking out vegan places to eat! I’m very much into my ‘clean eating’ and their menu does not disappoint – local and organic where possible, fresh, and so delicious! Since then I’ve been once more and ordered the same thing twice as it was so tasty – the homemade Staffordshire oatcake, harissa tofu and tabbouleh, so fresh and scrummy. The first time we visited my partner had the soup of the day (butternut squash) with freshly baked rye bread. The second time he ordered the spelt ‘pizza’. Safe to say the plates and bowls were completely clear when we were finished, portions were perfect, leaving you satisfied, but never stuffed and heavy.
Read moreThe first time we picked up a dessert, which as all their other products are made with no refined sugars – blueberry ‘cheese’cake, delicious! A wide variety of plant milks to choose from, and a takeaway service available too, with completely compostable takeaway cups!
Could not fault The Button Warehouse, apart from it being a bit too far from home, haha. I plan to be visiting many more times!
Pros: Healthy, freshly prepared, great menu, Gorgeous location, friendly atmosphere, very clean
Cons: Nothing!

Tranquil and delicious - Edit
Had lunch here today and it was excellent. I had a sweet potato bean burger with coleslaw and hummus and it was delicious. My husband had sautéed leeks, with mustard on rye bread toast and that was also delicious. We finished with awesome vegan cakes - a chocolate brownie and berry cheesecake - which we shared. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was very tranquil and conducive to a wonderfully relaxed lunch.

Vegan Cafe in Macclesfield - Edit
I am so excited that there is now a vegan cafe in Macclesfield, which previously really didn't have anything for vegans to eat at.
Read moreThe Button Warehouse is tucked away behind other shops, but can get to it either from Chestergate or Churchill way. The cafe is beautifully set out, with bare brick and stone walls, wooden floor, and lovely old wooden chairs and tables of different styles.
The staff are very friendly, you order at the counter and they bring your food/drink over to you. They were also particularly nice about asking if I wanted another drink when my friend arrived.
The menu seems to have 2 or 3 hot main courses which are written up on a blackboard and changed while we were there (something finished so something else was put on). There was also soup and salad.
The cakes were raw type, one chocolatey/one coconuty.
They have the most extensive range of non-dairy milk I have seen offered in a cafe - oat, hemp, almond, soya, coconut.
My friend and I both had the sauted rainbow chard and mushrooms on rye bread which was really good. Then we shared a coconut lemon cake slice.
Pros: Vegan cafe in Macclesfield!, Original menu with unusual ingredients, Really nice vibe
