The best bread in Tunbridge Wells - Edit
I had a lovely Abugene and chick-pea salad with herbs and seeds and chunky bread in the Bicycle Bakery today. Jamie the proprietor has a natural talent for baking and food making of exceptional niceness and simplicity rarely found when eating out. He says it is easy.
Read moreThe feature of this little Bakery/Cafe is that everything uses traditional recipes and methods. So traditionally unglazed breads are vegan but if it is glazed it will be with egg - so the veg-sausage roll is egg-glazed. No bread mixes are used in any case these may have milk, soya and other untraditional things in them. I bought bread today which buy-the-way is the best in Tunbridge Well.
When the Bicycle first opened the chalk sign outside said things like take vegan bacon chuck it away and fry up some real bacon. I tend to agree but I would also chuck the bacon away as well. The bakery has changed and got a little bigger over the few years it has opened. I have been offered soya milk with coffee and tea but back to the first principle don't want either of those. (Jamie may be a vegan by the way and has worked for Food for Friends and other famous places and in baking circles said to be the Gold standard)
