Do not miss this place! - Edit
Went for dinner here on a Monday night and the place was more than half full. My friend and I both had the veggie burger which was fantastic, and even she as an omnivore said it was the best veggie burger she'd had! Great apps and drinks too, and to top it all off a long desert menu! I had vegan creme brulee for the first time since I became vegan and it was scrumptious. Also very clean and the service is quick and friendly. A

Brunch = Magic! - Edit
We tried several vegan restaurants on our weeklong honeymoon in Austin, and this was the highlight! We went bright and early for brunch on a Saturday and split the chicken and waffles, farmer plate, and a couple of yummy beers. Clean, quick, friendly staff - a little pricey but the quality was amazing and portions were great. My only regret is not being able to make it back for their dinner menu!

Awesome - Edit
I don't have a lot to say. It was a lovely time, with amazing food and top quality booze. We waited about 40 minutes for a table and it was totally 100% worth it. Dim lighting, soft music, cocktails.. a proper grown up restaurant but for vegans.
Read moreWe were next to a super awkward date that went really badly, one was on their phone the whole time and the other just sat there saying nothing. They left separately, drinks barely touched and no food at all.
Then the wings and cheese plate came and nothing mattered any more except for the wings and the cheese plate.
An altogether engaging evening.
I guess I did have a lot to say.
Pros: Service, Ambience, Food
Cons: Belly not big enough to eat everything

The best place in Austin - Edit
I've been to The Beer Plant many times and I haven't had a bad meal there. I had The Purple Pig several times, soooo yummy, so finally asked waitress to make sure I'm banned from ordering it next time I come in, lol. I guess I was worried that nothing else would measure to that. Was I wrong!!! Had blacksmith burger, Big Bend, Gyro, Bahn Fire since and everything was super delicious. Made me forget about The Purple Pig. For that hour, lol😈. Whatever you order, you can't go wrong. The Only thing I didn't care too much for was a buffalo sauce cauliflower, but I think that's only because I don't use a lots of salt when cooking and it was just too salty for me. Everyone else at the table loved it though. Their desserts are just as delicious🍰🍧. So - if you haven't been to this place yet, get in the car and chop chop! Go get that delicious dinner you'll be thinking about for days. Until you drive there again to beat it with another delicious dinner ☺❤🐇🐓🐤🐑🐴🐄🐃🐐🐷🐋🐟🐚🐙🐌❤

Our first experience at beer plant was not great but that was only because our waiter was rude . ( she still works there ) Other three times we ate there we had great experience, both with food/drinks and staff . Would go back , but just hope not to get the same waitress we got first time .

Nice Vegan Restaurant - Edit
This is one of our regulars. I don't drink beer so I don't feel like I get the full experience coming here, but their Buffalo cauliflower and their cheese platter appetizers are amazing! Other than that, their entrees are kind of bland in my opinion. The service is always great and the atmosphere is very nice. After you eat here you can go adopt a dog or cat at the Austin Pets Alive locations on either side of it!

My fiance and I tried this place for the first time today and OH MY GOODNESS!! The Purple Pig was amazing. I don't even think I've had a REAL BACON BLT that tasted this good. As a person newly trying veganism, The Beer Plant is absolutely going to help me stick to it. I can't recommend it enough

Great Austin vibes - Edit
Visited as a vegan and omnivore family. Excellent food all around. Great prices and friendly staff. Live music on Sunday afternoons on the covered outdoor patio. Reservations are recommended during busier hours. Loads of parking outside. If anything, the menu could be more extensive.

The Beer Plant - Edit
I dined at The Beer Plant for the fist time on Sunday. I had brunch. It was excellent. All food is vegan, fresh, and made to order. I had the migas platter which consisted of well seasoned and prepared tofu scramble, fried potatoes and home-made ketchup, sauteed mushroom, sausage patty, broiled tomato, cannelloni beans, and sourdough toast. Delicious! I also had the ginger beer which as flavorful and tart, The ambiance was relaxed and stylish. Beautiful restaurant. I checked out their dinner menu while there and will go back for dinner as soon as possible. Reasonably priced. Everyone said the beer is good, too, but I didn't try it because I was driving. Any restaurant that makes its own ketchup has got to be good.

Many wrinkles to iron out - Edit
I like the concept and menu, but the service was really lacking. We came in around happy hour and waited more than 5 minutes at the host stand before anyone came to greet us. The restaurant was half empty, and servers, hosts, and bartenders were milling around the whole time, but no one thought to seat us (or even acknowledge our existence).
Read moreWe finally got seated outside, but we sat for ten minutes with one drink menu and one food menu before the waitress came to take our drink orders. Unsurprisingly, we weren't ready to order, as our party of eight had trouble using a single set of menus. The waitress apologized and said she would be right back with more menus.
Unfortunately, that took another 15 minutes (no exaggeration!), so by that time we were able to cobble together our orders. The food also came out slowly and staggered. Everyone had scarfed down their appetizers and entrees before my sister even received her meal. I think we even got a second round of buffalo cauliflower wings before she got to dig in.
I don't want to be too harsh on our server (perhaps she's new). Plus, it wasn't just her - the entire service experience fell short for us.
I really wanted to like this place, but I'm quite discouraged and disappointed. They definitely have some wrinkles to iron out. I might give them another try if I'm feeling adventurous and have a lot of time on my hands. After all, the food was actually pretty good when we finally got it.
Pros: Nice selection, Good food
Cons: Slow service, Inattentive

Delicious vegan gastropub favorites :) - Edit
There has been a lot of hype surrounding the opening of The Beer Plant, Austin's first vegan gastropub. The inside is on the smaller side, with flickering candles and dark colors. I sat at the long wooden bar, and ordered the small Ploughman's plate and the Hop's and Chips. The Ploughman's is a vegan charcuterie with seitan, garlic butter, nut cheese, tomato chutney, pickled veg and sourdough bread. This was absolutely amazing...there were 3 types of cheese and the spicy one was the best thing on the plate. This was such a treat to have this popular pub platter made vegan! The Hop's and chips were hearts of palm in a light beer batter (made wth local ATX brewery beer Pearl Snap) deep fried (it also came with crispy fries and an awesome flavorful remoulade). I didn't order any drinks, but they have taps upon taps of craft beers! Overall, this was some great food and I highly recommend it!
