Honestly though it was just ok - Edit
We went for brunch. The restaurant itself is really cute and theres lots of parking. I got the tofu scramble and it was just ehh. Not the best I've had, not the worst. The fruit was delicious though! My friend got the BLT and she thought it was just ok too.

Cool Bar and Sexy environment! - Edit
This place is awesome, from the expansive menu and interesting combination of items. I got the 'February Special' gumbo, the Carolina w/house salad my gf got the Chicago Italian beef w/Mac and cheese. No lack of flavor and no complaints from either of us.

Make a reservation! - Edit
Based on other reviews, I made a reservation and I’m glad I did. It filled up very quickly by 6pm. We had mac and cheese, golden beet bruschetta, meatball sub, chicken and gravy, cheesecake and gingerbread ice cream sandwich. Everything had great flavors. The bruschetta and the chicken were our favorites.

I only had dinner here once (kimchi grilled cheese, fingerling potatoes, and turtle cheesecake) but it was amazing. Interesting dishes. Huge selection of beers if you're into that sort of thing. I'm happy I read these reviews first and made a reservation (for one) because I got a table right away while there was a huge mass of people waiting ahead of me.

Couldn’t be happier - Edit
We enjoyed a seasonal mix of selections as well as some tried & true favorites. The Orchard salad w/ deep fried oyster mushrooms was phenomenal, the chorizo loaded fries are perfect for that unhealthy kick, and the crab cakes were also delicious.

Exceptional food and great atmosphere - Edit
Thre good was great the cali wings were amazing and the portion was huge. I had a meatball sub special with mac and cheese and I couldn't have been happier. Incredible beer selection with a great section of sours which is a huge plus. One negative would probably be it's definitely a little pricey.

Best vegan food in Austin - Edit
This is probably my favorite restaurant now. It’s not even just good “for vegan food” - I went with people who are not vegan and still thought it was one of the best restaurants they’ve been to. It has a really great ambiance, fantastic beer selection, and everything we tried was just incredible. I also appreciated that things are made without processed meat substitutions and such.
Read moreIt’s also nice that it’s kind of fancy - it has a romantic gastropub feel with candlelight, which is nice since there’s not many fancy restaurants for us veggies.
This will also be my go-to place for bringing omnivores to try vegan food. It has some things on the menu that would be familiar (like a Nashville chicken style sandwich), and also some stuff that’s just naturally vegan. I don’t think it would be intimidating for people who aren’t used to vegan food, and it will certainly give it a good name.
Pros: Only vegan food, Great ambiance, Beer selection
Cons: Might need reservation or long wait, Can be loud

ALL food and drinks are vegan! It was so incredible to see a *real* restaurant with reservations and a slew of people waiting to get in on a weekend night THAT WAS ALL VEGAN! We didn’t have a reservation, but only had to wait about 30 mins.
Read moreThere is a draft beer wall of all vegan beer!
We had the appetizer special which was “chorizo” fries. It was seriously the best. Our entrees and drinks (one alcohol and one non-alcohol cocktails) were divine too.
One entree was mock pulled pork made out of banana flowers. I’d never had this, and loved it as a jackfruit alternative. Viva banana flowers!
This is the best restaurant I’ve been to maybe ever. It is a bit $$, but was worth it to have such a nice, delicious, VEGAN treat.
As an added bonus, the restaurant is between two local animal rescue facilities.
Highly recommend!
Pros: Everything is vegan, It’s a *real* restaurant, Everything was divine
Cons: A bit expensive, but worth it!

There is a lack of 100% vegan restaurants in Austin. The Beer Plant fills the void perfectly.
Read moreThe Beer Plant is completely unassuming from the outside. It's appropriate that it's nestled in between 2 Austin Pets Alive sanctuaries. I'm not sure if the location is a coincidence.
All of the food is priced like any average Austin restaurant (~$6 for a pint of craft beer, ~$15 per entree).
I tried the cauliflower buffalo wings as a starter. They were by far my favorite food of the night. I also tried their cultured butter, Reuben sandwich (outstanding sauerkraut) and their nachos.
By the time we left around 8, the restaurant was completely full. Great vibes. Attentive wait service. I will return!
Pros: 100% Vegan menu, Friendly, attentive staff, Variety of cuisines
Cons: Can get crowded depending on the time, Not open for lunch

I was super excited to try this place but was kinda let down. I got the Mac n cheese & Ravioli that was a special and both didn’t have much flavor. My sister got the ceaser salad and that was VERY good!

Wowowow!!!!! - Edit
Love love love this place!!! We went with a group of 4 plus a toddler. Our table ordered two of the Big Bend sandwiches, a kimchi grilled cheese, the cauliflower buffalo wings, the Brussels sprouts, and a side of Mac n cheese for the toddler. EVERYTHING was fantastic! The Big Bend in particular was amazing, and the wings. We also had a flight of beer which was really fun to try- there was a great selection. We’ve been for brunch on the weekend before and dream about the chick’n and waffles still. Will definitely be back here!

Vegan beer bar!!!!! - Edit
This place is amazing. It is very unusual to have a beer bar with a full cocktail menu and robust wine list, let alone a vegan one! I loved everything about this place. I would come back to Austin just to eat here. It’s that good. I had the fried chicken dinner with mac n cheese and a beer flight. Love, love, love. The bartenders are also super nice. Highly recommend!

Get the key lime pie! - Edit
Love the drinks and am so glad to hear that the delicious key lime pie on special should be here to stay on the permanent menu! I didn't personally love the chicken fried seitan and think the gravy could've packed a more flavorful punch, but overall it was an enjoyable dinner experience.

This place has amazing vegan food! The wait is very long, but you can put in a reservation before hand. I live in Austin and this place is so good that every year for my birthday I have dinner here. My favorite item is the vegan Mac and cheese.

Best Vegan restaurant in Austin - Edit
I'd consider this to be the best sit down vegan restaurant in Austin, partially due to lack of competition but I'd consider it up to par or better than even most places in the Pacific Northwest. Great beer selection and most dishes are quite good. The main things worth noting are that the quality can range from pretty good to amazing based on what cooks are there each night. For example, the cauliflower wings Monday-Wednesday are probably the best in the world, while the weekend ones are pretty good. I'm also a huge fan of the specials those nights, as the chef seems very creative. Saturday/Sunday brunch is great, try the seitan sandwich and the french toast! On nights, big bend sandwich, cauliflower wings and orchard salad with mushroom calamari all the way!
Read morePros: Allows dogs in outdoor seating with fans and shade, Great beer selection, Many very high quality dishes
Cons: Some dishes are no good and expensive, risky, Inconsistent quality on weekend nights, Some dishes are extremely spicy with no warning
