DO NOT GO HERE!

I would give it 1 star but HC wouldn't let me. I ordered the pulled jackfruit burger, and a girl on a different table had ordered this before me but had told the waiter she couldn't eat it as it had tomato in it (even though she ordered it with no tomato). So they took the burger back to the kitchen, and the girl left because they wouldn't make her another one with no tomato. When my burger came out, I realised it was the burger that the girl had ordered and they re-served it to me because she hadn't touched it or eaten it. I complained, and they tried to deny it, but I could clearly tell because the bread was stone cold and hard, and the sweet potato fries were also stone cold. They ended up making me a fresh one but I told them that you seriously cannot do that, it's super unhygienic and very rude. The staff were also super rude, inattentive and had absolutely no customer service skills whatsoever. Would not recommend eating here which is a shame because they have 22 vegan items on their menu and home made vegan icecreams.

Pros: Lots of vegan options

Cons: Rude staff

Nice vegetarian place

We came to eat here 3 or 4 times during our 4 day stay at Gili Trawangan since it's the only vegetarian restaurant that's on the main street that goes around the island. They have a good variety of vegan dishes and drinks that are clearly marked as vegan. The food is pretty good though it feels pretty standard as well.

We had the jackfruit toast for lunch, which is fine but could use some more kick by marinating it with some more spices/herbs.

The buddha/sushi bowl are tasty and satisfying. Also the raw zucchini lasagna does not disappoint.

It was unfortunate that several times they ran out of a few meals so we couldn't order those.

The interior of this place good use some work. Both inside and outside looks like someone just placed some tables and chairs and didn't spend any more time or money to make it more cozy or interesting.

Pros: good food, good location

Cons: interior could use some attention, ran out of dishes

Great food, the jackfruit sandwich is a must, vegan and vegi but more than enough for vegans as most dishes can be tweaked to vegan.

Pros: lots of options , decent price

Cons: Not fully vegan but close

pretty disappointing, very hit and miss

After reading the positive reviews we were excited to try the banyan tree. First time, we had tofu curry and the pulled jackfruit sandwich. The curry was nice but the jackfruit was pretty mediocre and didn’t have a lot of taste to it. Sweet potato fries were nice, but a friend eating with us had hard, practically inedible fries. We came back again and had the Buddha bowl which was very nice, but the coconut curry was below average - 4 tiny pieces of tempeh and some veg in a sickly coconut sauce. We shared the Vietnamese spring rolls which were honestly disgusting. Their smoothies and cakes and delicious though and I would recommend going here solely for that.
The food seems to be very hit and miss so I can only give this 3 stars.

Pros: lots of vegan choices , delicious cakes and smoothies

Cons: expensive for small portions, some menu items are disgusting

Good fresh food

We spent most of our time in gilli eating here as it offers the best quality vegan food. We have almost tried every vegan option on the menu. Some of our favourites would include the Buddha bowls, coconut curry and the jack fruit sandwich. The jackfruit sandwich contains vegan alioli but on occasion they changed it for the non-vegan alioli without telling us! So make sure you ask for the vegan sauce. We also had a problem with the blueberry pancakes which come with syrup, however they had run out so put honey on them instead again without telling us and we only noticed after eating it! The smoothie bowls are good as are the smoothies. The restaurant is nice and it was also good to have the option to sit on the beach to eat, we were lucky enough to see a turtle come from the sea and lay her eggs about 4 metres from our table. Not the cheapest place to eat, the price is very similar to uk prices.

Pros: Variety , Healthy options , Tasty food

Cons: Swapped vegan options for non-vegan options, Sometimes orders forgotten/long waits , Fairly expensive

Impressed

Having hopped off the public boat from Bangsal Harbour in Lombok, we headed straight to The Banyan Tree. When you get off the boat, turn right and walk 2-300 metres and the cafe is just after Gili Yoga and Gili Freedive. Extensive all vegetarian menu with many vegan options clearly marked. We ordered tofu scramble on toast which had mushrooms, onions and tomatoes mixed in, an activated charcoal fresh lemonade and a raw blueberry cheesecake. The scramble was a little salty but very tasty indeed, the lemonade was delicious and refreshing and the cheesecake was moist and flavoursome. Very impressed with what we ordered and we will return for sure!

Just ok.

We visited this restaurant after arriving on Gili T from Bali, it was the first resto we saw after the pier and we were really looking forward to enjoying breakfast. We ordered the chocolate peanut butter smoothie bowl, which took 45 minutes to arrive.. and It was just ok, very small for 6$ and lacked flavour. We would of ordered more food but the energy was way off.. people were complaining about not receiving their order and the staff couldn’t care less. It was disappointing. I would not go back.

Great food all round

Lots of different options, most of which are vegan. I had a 'Three layered heaven' smoothie, pumpkin soup and coconut curry. All incredible. Rest of my group all very happy as well.

Did have to wait a while but nothing unreasonable. Sweet potato fries were a little cold by the time they came out.

Pros: Lots of options, Great taste, Lovely staff

Cons: Small wait for food

Long waiting

Ordered a juice and a starter papaya salad. 40 minutes went by and people that came after me started getting their foods. I didn't mind the waiting at first since they were quite busy. But now it was getting pretty late. They confirmed my order again. At this point I was getting more hungry and wanted to change my order since they hadn't made it yet. But I couldn't do that. Got my food after waiting for an hour. Very small salad. Had planned to order more food but did not want to wait more. Had to argue to get a discount (10%). Was quite sad about the experience since I was excited to eat here.

Pros: lots of options

Cons: long waiting time

Amazing

Me and my bf are both vegan and we fell in love with Banyan Tree. The breakfast is amazing my favourite was the Chocolate Peanut bowl (and I asked for extra granola with raw peanut butter and toast on the side) his favourite was the Scrambled Tofu. He is allergic to mushrooms and they speak good English and had no problems with changing some of the meals for him.

Our favourite lunch/dinners was the Coconut Curry, so tasty and not spicy as I hate spice! The Jackfruit Sandwich was also incredible as well as the Peanut Tofu Stir Fry (good for spice lovers!!) Also try the Orange Crush drink! 10/10!

Wifi is also good and you can sit inside with Air con or on a lovely balcony overlooking the beach. Can't wait to go back to Gili and visit this place again

Great nasi campur and they have air-con!

I wasn´t too interested in ordering from the menu here, because they had nasi campur counter here. So next to the cashier they have several dishes that you may choose to accompany your rice: tofu, tempe, sauces and more warm salad -like dishes. Ask which ones are vegan, some of the dishes are actually boiled eggs that strangely don´t look like eggs (they were grey-brown). Nasi campur dishes were very good and better than in the usual non-veg stalls.

I visited here in November 2016 and service was very poor. The staff didn´t smile, greet and they seemed to want to avoid the customers. The Indonesian staff had either no knowledge on which dishes were vegan. I hope they have found a way to motivate the staff or find new people to work there. Because otherwise this was a perfect beautiful restaurant, the building is well built, the menu is great and all.

They also have a salad bar next to nasi campur counter. They have indoor seating upstairs and hooray! air-con. But I noticed one waiter leaving the balcony door open all the time, so he had no idea what is the idea of air-con.

Pros: Very good nasi campur

Cons: Closes early, Staff were very unmotivated to work

Amazing!

I ordered the tofu curry and it was the best one I've ever tried. It was slightly sweet and slightly spicy in just the perfect amounts. The portion was generous and filling. The seating is upstairs in a nice area. All food items were clearly marked for vegan, gluten-free and a third category which I can't remember. They even have vegan desserts! :)

Pros: food tastes amazing, generous portions, easy to find

Cons: service is a bit slow

Average

Nice looking place, lots of good seating areas with an upstairs balcony.

But... not very welcoming or enthusiastic, chips not cooked... bland food with bad textures and no real flavour.

Looked and felt very new hopefully it improves soon.
